The bar is there for a reason- grocery shopping vent- long

I've been paying attention to this whole bar thing since this thread started. When I was at the grocery store on Saturday, the person in front of me did not put the bar down so I did. What was kind of funny is that there was a gap between her groceries and mine (and I really didn't even need to use the bar in hindsight), but after I put the bar down she scooted it way up so I'd have plenty of space to put my things. I put my things as far up as possible , but it was almost as if she felt bad for not putting the bar down and was trying to make ammends.

I put my stuff on the belt and then put down the bar in back of me. The person behind me put her stuff down and then put the bar down in back of her order. I had to leave, though, and couldn't spend the rest of the night looking at grocery store bars.

Next time I'm at the store I'll ask the cashier if most people put the bars behind their groceries.

How long are the belts in the lines at your store????? There was room for 3 people to all stand there and put their stuff down. Wow
