So Florida mall might be an option instead of I-drive by the sounds of it! How far away is it from SSR ish does anyone know? We're not hiring a car you see but we can get the bus or a taxi I assume

We take a taxi to the malls from DTD slightly cheaper than from the resort. It cost around $60 dollars in taxis for us to go to millennia mall, outlets at vine land and back direct to old key west. Cost about the same to and from OKW.
I did not find that the millennia mall was to our taste or budget. We like the Florida mall and the outlet mall on Vineland the best.

We're not driving either so were just going to get the bus, it's like $16 for a 7 day bus ticket. I'd much rather pay that than $60 for a taxi

Florida Mall is a great place, you'll find many stores, but the best bargains will probably be from Sears. (you also get Macy's and JC Penney, along with major brands)

If you're looking for brands, then go to the top of Idrive to the orlando premium outlets (not those on Vineland, but those at the top of Idrive, close to millenia and universal)

You'll find lots of stores with good prices (often last year's collection at discounted prices)
When a new collection is released, the items from the previous collection are sent to the outlets. The "orlando premium outlets" and florida mall are run by the same company

Idrive per se is a tourist trap. Cheap shops, like flea markets that will make you want to run like hell from those places.
Avoid those places.
