The Bahamian Rum Runners! May 18, 2012 - 5 Nights on the Magic!

We are in room 2558 and it's our first cruise!
Yay welcome aboard! I fixed the spelling of your username in the FE list too.

Thanks. Just a quick note for a requested correction: MagicFan75 and Alexturner74 are in the same room since we are married and like each other a lot.
DW will be pleased to know that MagicFan75 has not taken her place in our cabin.
:rotfl:
I am a tool! I'm sorry guys, all better now. Some days I'd like to trade my husband though... :rolleyes1

I wish you luck and hope everyone appreciates the gift (I wish someone would take me on a cruise!!!)! While DW and I love cruising (especially on Disney), we know people who have absolutely no desire to step aboard a ship.
Yah, my father in law swears he has "no desire to be trapped on a ship." I'm thinking a free Disney cruise from his favorite (ok, only) son and daughter in law will change his mind. But if not, oh well, refund it and more drinky drinks and souvenirs for us!!

! I actually already had to ruin the surprise for my sis-in-law, because she was thinking of getting her parents a cruise for Christmas. She wouldn't listen to me as I tried to think up every reason why that was a bad idea... until I finally had to call her and tell her that everyone already had a cruise coming! She promised to keep her mouth shut though until we surprise everyone else!

I can NEVER keep a secret that big. Good for you. All the pictures are adorable.

I HAD to tell DD19 about our surprise BLT day after our last cruise and she already knows about our P&P voyage this trip. I am hoping for will power not to tell DD10 and DH

I hadn't heard of the Pirates & Pals voyage before, just searched it on the DIS main site... how much fun does that sound?!?!?! I definitely need to book that one of these days! They're gonna love it, and I'm jealous! pirate:

Hi Everyone,

We just wanted to check in and join the FE for the May 18th cruise, we just booked our reservation and are starting our planning! We actually transferred our reservation from the Fantasy since this cruise was much more affordable and it gave us more time in the parks. This is going to be our 5th cruise.

Here is our info:
Me Katie
DH Morgan
DS Aidan, 10
DD Samantha, 7
we will be in room 2642

Please let me know if you need any more info from us. It looks like everything is pretty organized so far!

Any suggestions on excursions for Nassau?:confused3

We have been wondering the same thing.. we've never been, but reading all these reviews makes me wonder if it's even worth getting off the ship. I have youtubed some videos of the sea lion and dolphin encounters, and of atlantis aquaventure, and they seem kinda fun.. so we're still debating. Anybody that has been before, done anything that you would highly recommend?:surfweb:

We honeymooned in Nassau and weren't all that impressed. I suspect all we'll do this trip is wander around a bit and then spend some quiet time on the ship.

I hate to be a Debbie downer but I didn't like Nassau at all. I thought the excursions were too pricey, so we just walked around on our own. Something we regretted when we split up from my husband and I was with my DD 18 and 9.

We're looking into the Atlantis excursion OUTSIDE of Disney but my gut is telling me to stay with the Disney as a safety. Especially after what we experienced in August. I'm thinking Bay Lake Dolphin or Beach Day.

Hey Everyone. :)

Sorry I have been MIA lately. Looks like we lost a few people :( but gained some as well. :)

We got our cruise paid off  - so excited about that.

Now just passing time until we can book excursions and other things.

Hope everyone is having a MAGICal Holiday Season. :)

We will be arranging non-Disney transportation (through DISboards vendor, of course) from Old Key West (OKW) to the port.

We are doing this because we had Disney take us on their bus in August and didn't arrive on the ship until 2:30 from Beach Club. We were starving and they were closing the buffet as we were trying to get lunch.

We would like to get to the terminal at the 11:00 check in. I hate to miss the bus with the port-holes and the cute video but its not really worth the delay.

I would be happy to ride-share if anyone else is interested.

Hey all. We are coming too. Frank (37) and Ashley (27) and Ashley's Mom will be down the hall. We just got back from Aulani for Christmas so I hadn't really thought about May until now.

We stayed in a treehouse for Labor Day. They are great. We hit up wal mart and stocked it well. Used the BBQ out front too.

Our favorite piano player will hopefully be on board, Tim.

I love key west, that should be a great day, especially if you have never been.

Frank

We leave in 8 days to drive down to FL and getting on our first cruise on the Dream and we're staying at WDW for a few days afterwards, including Thanksgiving. So, we're pretty excited about that. But we've still been REALLY looking forward to our upcoming 5-night cruise on the Magic, as all of our other cruises have been 7-nights or more on the Magic, we don't know how we'll like only spending 3-nights on the Dream. I'm sure it will be fun and all, but its probably too short of a trip to relax.

But I got even more excited this morning for our 5-night cruise, since I just made our post-cruise reservations at the Tree House Villas at SSR for three nights. I'm super excited because I was afraid that there wouldn't be availability. But there was!! :yay:

I am playing catch up. Did you ever get your question answered?

The rain forest room is like a steam room on steroids. It is co-ed. Many people opt for a pass that allows you to go as many times as you want during the cruise. You can also buy a one day pass. If you get a spa treatment that day you can use the room that day.

We have done couples massages twice. I really don't like them but Ashley does. During the Alaskan Cruise on the Wonder they were slow and ran a special on the Villa for two. That was great. 1 hour in a private villa with a bubble bath hot tub, champagne and a bed over looking the side of the ship with one way glass. Then a 50 minutes massage side by side. They also do a Villa for One, which I like better since I don't have to go, LOL.

It is normally pretty pricey ~$400 + tip, but it was only $199 that day so we did it.

The fitness room is free in the spa. My other tip for the ladies (and for the men who want to avoid a crisis) bring your own hair dryer if you have sensitive hair. We had a crisis on the first cruise and had to get an emergency blow out at the spa. We pack a hair dryer from now on.

The humidity + crappy hair dryer = bad hair day = frustrated wife = frustrate husband.

Bring your own hair dryer = more time on the verandah with a cocktail and Buffett music for me.

Also, DVCJen, we are from Dallas. Are you flying in that morning or the night before? We are flying out the night before from DFW on AA.

Kim and Chris - welcome!

We have been on one other cruise but it's been so long I feel like a newbie myself.

I have a question about the Rainforest room - what exactly is it and or can you do in there? I would love to hear all about - good things and the not so great.

Key West is one of our favorite stops too! We've done trips down there independent of cruising, but to be honest, the Key West stop and a sea day was what sold us on this particular cruise. :) Thanks for the tip for the Treehouse Villas. We're really looking forward to May.

I expect KW will by our primary run ashore (I've no idea what we'll do in Nassau). DW and I found a nice little bar (seats maybe 10 people) we liked on our last cruise and she fully intends to spend some time there in May.

We plan on staying on board in Nassau. No real motivation there. We are going on the Dream on 2/2 and plan on staying on the ship then too at Nassau.

My favorite seafood place in Key West is the Hog Fish saloon on stock Island. Short cab ride over the bridge but worth it. I need to check if they are open during the day when we are in port.

My wife has never been so we will have to check some tourist boxes, most notably Hemingway's house and a crawl down Duvall.

Hi Everyone!

We'll probably walk down Duvall for a while, then head back to the ship.

Any recommendations for a nice bar? Just looking for a decent place to sit & have one (or two...or three) strawberry daiquiri's, and DH can have a few beers, and possibly a burger.
