The Bachelor 17 Sean Lowe NO SPOILERS

There is actually a name for this 'voice' thing.
It is a phenomenon now.

I had an acquaintance once, years ago, for some reason her voice and vocal chords had that raspy croaky, thing....
Now, change it up to a higher pitch.. (maybe the baby-talk if it is an immaature baby-talk girl) and it is a current 'thing'.

I really didn't like hearing it back then.
And I certainly don't see how girls think that this is a good/attractive thing now!!!!!

It's AWFUL!!!!!!
Guess they don't know how horrid it sounds!

I read something just yesterday about this new trend of "voice" apparently started by the Kardashians. :rolleyes2 I fear for our youth. A lot of my students have it too. Drives me bonkers.

I think the proposal was beautiful and in that moment Catherine was excited and just relieved!

Having said that, on the ATFR, Catherine didn't seem as into Sean as he was into her. He was telling her that he loved her so much, etc. and she wasn't reciprocating it at all. I didn't get a great feeling of head over heels love from her. I think Sean is completely in love with her, but shes just luke warm at this point. I think she got caught up in the show.

I thought the same thing. I'll be surprised to see a wedding.

I think she is a less emotional person than Sean. As kooky as she supposedly is, I find her very reserved and shy. She has reminded me almost from the start of my sister who is also very shy and guarded. I doubt if she weren't the one chosen she would have behaved like Lindsay or Ashlee who both wore their emotions on their sleeve. Her background and feelings of insecurity about her father's illness might have something to do with her not making a show of her emotions as well.

I noticed the way she looked when she was watching their proposal and it was there I figured out she loves him as much as he loves her. She looked so happy. If that was TV acting, then it's TV acting at it's finest!

I think that Catherine is more reserved with her feelings than Sean. He more or less wears his heart on this sleeve, but she isn't as outwardly affectionate like that. I noticed in so many confessionals she said that she needed to tell Sean exactly how she felt but when they showed them together, you could tell the words just don't come that easily to her (maybe they do, but not with a camera crew around). I think that is why she sent him that note. It was easier to express herself that way.

I'm thinking that is why she may not have seemed as into him on ATFR.

I guess only time will tell. But, I hope that they do work out. They are awfully cute together.

:lmao::rotfl2: This is HILARIOUS!!

Isn't it?? I laughed so hard I was shaking! Her descriptions had me in stitches.:lmao: Lindsay in her Build A Bear shorts??

I thought I was the only one who noticed Sean's brother in law. Yes, he was HOT! :thumbsup2

Ha ha! His wife probably told him to just sit there and look pretty, which he did really well!!! I thought he was a model at first.

A model or a mannequin! :rotfl:

Loved how she mentions the silver and gold dresses just like someone here mentioned last night. Remind these bachelorettes do NOT wear the second place color...EVER...:p

well, you all called it. he's going to be on DWTS. really, shouldn't he be concentrating on making it work with Catherine? they've had to be apart all this time--i kind of feel like spending hours in a dance studio with a hot dancer isn't the best idea.

I can't take credit for that. KBoopaloo, (below) on the DWTS thread said it. After that, I looked and saw that there was indeed one less male contestant. Also Peta was missing as one of the returning pro dancers.

Also, I think they are going to add Sean from the Bachelor as soon as his show wraps up and my bet is that Peta will be his partner.

The best part of the show was when Sean said that ABC could spring for their wedding. OMG I guess that is what it is all about.

think Sean is completely in love with her, but shes just luke warm at this point. I think she got caught up in the show.

Which is exactly what her family warned would happen. that she really gets into something really intensely, then drops it after a while. Now, the biggest thing for the two of them are caught up on is having this big fantasy wedding, all paid for by ABC and televised.

As well as Sean being on DWTS. Boy, he's really milking his 15 minutes of fame.

I wonder, :scratchin if they both get divorced, can declare being born-again virgins for a third time, and in doing so, also have their marriage declared null & void after they get divorced? Like can they be born-again virgins and consider themselves never-married, like it never happened? Will they be able to wipe the slate clean about marriage too?

The whole article was so funny but especially this:

After lubing up with moisturizer, Sean pulls a quarter Mesnick on the balcony and reflects on how he searched his heart and finally knows who will get a ring put on it. He visits Neil Lane and picks out the exact cut and setting that AshLee pre-ordered before she was kicked to the curb weeks ago. AWKARD.

After lubing up with moisturizer... reminds me of how Chris said he's glad he doesn't have to see him NAKED anymore!!

No, I think it started earlier than with the Kardashians. Although, they certainly popularized it. :headache: I mentioned on another thread that I couldn't stand Elizabeth Hasselbeck's Pebble's Flintstone voice. And she has been on TV five times a week for 11(?) years.

Katie Couric has somewhat of a Smurfette voice. I think that is why she didn't do as well as the anchor for the CBS Nightly News. She had more of a Morning Show, high voice. When we want our news delivered, we want a strong, deep, authoritative voice that is reassuring.

And yes, I do notice more reality TV girls having "little girl" voices. :headache: Whereas, in scripted TV shows, during the auditioning process, they are picking people right for certain roles, so they get to listen to a lot of actresses as well as evaluate their acting. I think they naturally pick actresses who talk better & fit the roles. And in the old days where actors were under studio contracts, like Joan Crawford, part of their training required voice lessons.

With "reality" TV, they aren't hiring actresses, but people who can create a sensation for 12 weeks and will probably be gone after that. So having a good voice one can listen to long-term isn't a consideration.

WHEREVER they came from and why we're being assaulted with it... please make them STOP!! It is so unattractive and painful to the EEEEARS!!

Interesting factoid:

This may or may not be true as I snipped if from Wiki, but I was looking at Trista's wiki page:

She chose Ryan Sutter as the winner, and the couple were married on December 6, 2003. They were paid US $1 million by ABC for affording the network the right to televise their wedding ceremony

Wow! Sign me up for a wedding with ABC footing the bill. :dance3: For half a million dollars, I wouldn't even mind being divorced afterwards. That amount each would certainly set up a graphic designer and insurance salesman nicely should Sean & Catherine go their separate ways down the road after a too hasty marriage. :rolleyes1

I really can't fault them for taking advantage of a televised wedding. If I could have had my dream wedding paid for and earned some additional cash in the process, I would be all for it. Seems like a win-win to me. I almost don't fault him for doing DWTs either. May as well take advantage of the situation and earn a little more money while you can. If handled wisely, the money they earn now can really help them out further down the road. Sure would jave been nice to have started my marriage off debt free. I just hope doing DWTS isn't too soon and it hurts their relationship.

I, personally, wouldn't be able to marry someone that can't look at me in the eye. Catherine very rarely looks into Sean's eyes when they talk, although she did during the proposal. I'm afraid Sean's going to get burned on this one.

Has there been a bachelor wedding yet? Or just bachelorettes Trista & Ashley? If they do go through with it, that will be a first (with the exception of Jason, who married the runner-up Molly). I'll be surprised if they stay together, just because of the show's track record.

I wonder how much of Desiree's brother we will see on the show. They should have him sneaking around in the bushes and come charging out on her dates. :rotfl:

I predict Tierra will dump her imaginary fiance right before the casting of Bachelor Pad.

Did anyone watch Hells Kitchen tonight? They did a close up of a woman three different times and it looked like Des the next bachelorette!

I don't blame him either. Does anyone remember what he does IRL? The "stars" on DWTS are paid quite well for every episode they stay.
