I'm so excited! My brother just called they are at the hospital and he said my SIL is at a 3 with contractions 6 minutes apart. Could the mommy's of the DIS tell me what that translates to?

LOL! I'm very uneducated when it comes to the whole labor thing! :p

:jumping1: :jumping1:

Contractions at 6 minutes apart, it could be very soon, or might take awhile (wait until their seconds apart;)). She has to wait 1 more cm and she can have an epidural.;) Good luck.

congrats!!!
Well, "you never know"....it could still be quite a while....or maybe not....6 minutes, if I remember right (been 8 years!!).....is quite far apart. It also depends on how much efaced (sp?).....

I walked around at 3 for over a week...but not in labor.

It also depends on how much efaced

Well I talked to her last week and she had told me that she was already 50% efaced but wasn't dialating as fast as she was becoming efaced. Does that make sense? LOL! I have no idea what those things even mean. Like I said, the whole labor thing is foreign to me. I have no sisters, so I just get info pieces at a time about the whole labor thing. :p

So is 50% good or what?

You're going to be an aunt - how exciting!!!

If she is at 3 cen., she needs to go to 10 for delivery and be 100%
efaced. Depending on if this is her first baby, but it could still take awhile. I was only in labor 5 hrs with my first, but I was very lucky. My daughters labors were 12 hrs - 24 hrs. for their first. Pls keep us updated!

Best wishes!

I was 3 cm dialated for several DAYS before I actually went into labor.

Keep us posted. :)
