This is great! With the Astros winning five of the last six regular season games they played against the Cards, and after the pounding they put on the Braves tonight, they have to be confident.

er, umm...that's not exactly true. This is, however, the first time they have won a playoff series.

They lost the LCS in 1980 and 1986.

While I'm a Cards fan, I do like the thought of the possibility of Clemens beating the Red Sox IN FENWAY, on Halloween in the 7th game of the WS. Talk about continuing The Curse....

Doesn't matter. It's a mental thing. The Astros are the only team to win a season series from the Cards this year. I know their bats will get the job done, but our pitching is hurting right now. Clemens and Oswalt won't pitch until games three and four. Backe can probably hold his own in game one. I think this could be a seven game series.

As a long-suffering Astros fan (started in 1968 at age 10 when my family moved to Houston) can I just say...

WOOHOO!!!!!

And it was soooo much fun tromping the Braves at Turner Field. hehe!

As someone who attended all home games during both the 1980 and 1986 NLCS series I just gotta believe that this is our year!!! It's been a LONG time coming!!

i agree it could be a 7 game series. I wouldn't put too much creedence in who won the season series. As you imply, the playoffs is all about pitching match ups. Something that is less controlled during the season. Frankly, the Cards pitching staff doesn't really scare anyone, which has me worried as a Cards fan.
