You can use Whistle app to make phone calls using wifi too.
My DD has one. I put all her movies on it and plug it into her TV to watch her movies. Love not having to drag around a big case of dvds anymore.
She mostly uses it for all the games.

I have iperiod on mine (free)...keep tracks of my cycle and I can keep track of symptoms there, etc. Not 'fun', LOL, but helpful!

If you participate in any other boards (like this one) look for their Apps for Iphone. You can download those to your Touch.

Cartoon Network has a free app to watch episodes (when wifi is enabled) if you have kids at that age.
