The annual What was Hot/What was Not gift tracking thread

It's not a big deal, I'm just saying I had no idea those were so popular! When we were kids we asked for babies or cd's. Just noting how much times have changed is all. Just making conversation...........

When you refer to those who did buy those things as "keeping up with the Jones", use "Sheesh" to describe their actions, inform us that they have "very little money", and end with a sarcastic twit about not being one of the cool kids you take from "making conversation" to "posting a judgement about those who didn't buy Christmas presents the way that you did".

I went back and re-read your original comments and don't get that at all from what you wrote. To me your post sounded somewhat condescending towards those that bought them. Comments like they are 'keeping up with the Jones', spending money *you* know they don't have, then throwing in the old 'cool kids' jab.
I still however find it confusing that you say those things yet your own child has an iPad, which is FAR more expensive than an iPod :rolleyes1

:scared1:

Not to try and make your feel bad but again.....:scared1:

I consider the weeks prior to Christmas as the lead up and then the REAL Christmas season starts on Christmas day LOL We will spend this week (school vacation) decorating gingerbread houses, baking cookies, going to view light displays, seeing the decorated mansions in Newport etc. etc. We will finally be able to relax and invite friends over. My decorations will remain until late January. The weeks before Christmas are really too busy for us around here to enjoy it all. It's so funny when I hear people who talk about being so glad "it's over". It's really just begun for us :)

For us Christmas is the days leading up to and including Christmas day- the day after Christmas its done and over. A few neighbors already took down their outside lights yesterday (including me!). We are cookied out from everyone giving us cookies they baked and I don't want to see any more until next Christmas! I will be taking the tree down either today after work or tomorrow.

The hot things for my DD12 was an ipad2 and a big electric keyboard (which I had gotten from a friend who bought it last year for her daughter who didn't want it for 40.00! She wanted to give it for free but I gave the kid 40.00 since it was her gift from the year before).

I bought a kindle and Uggs for my mom and she is in heaven---she is 83 so I wasn't sure how the kindle would go over but she likes it- my daughter and I prefer the Nook but thought the kindle would be better for grandma!

It was really a great Christmas for us all!
