I know you're out there fellow lovers of all things Japan! So lets discuss Anime and Manga! :goodvibes :thumbsup2

Cowboy Bebop (especially Radical Edward since I play her in a multi-fandom RPG!) and Trigun!

My daughter, Daisuke on the boards, loves it, and I think she has all the Manga books. She's more into J-Pop, though.

Speaking of, my mother bought me a copy of The Manga Bible(which is the major stories of the Bible, only in manga format) for my birthday.

I SO need to scan in pictures from that..some of them totally crack me up.:lmao:

Death Note! Actually, my dd and I were at the Anime Weekend Atlanta last weekend! It was awesome. First time I had been to a con.

And now I do believe it will be a yearly thing. It was great being around so many people as weird as we are....felt very at home and friendly.

My dd is the one who is really into the manga and anime, I do read the ones she buys....I love Azumanga Daioh, Sgt Frog, Yotsuba, Full Metal Alchemist, and lots others....

Is it crazy that I want a Vash coat?

As for my Ed her face is Bryce Dallas Howard since I think she would make a cute older Ed (she's now 19 in the game)

Hmm, maybe this would be a good thread to ask...

I have been dying to remember the name of an older Japanese cartoon (I think in the 80's). It was about some people on a boat-shaped space ship who were travelling somewhere. There was a couple of guys and a girl (I know, I know, pretty vague!). I think the two guys both had brown hair, one was the captain and one was kind of snarky. The girl was blonde and maybe a princess or something?

Does this ring a bell for anyone???

I would love to see if the series is available on DVD but I can't for the life of me recall the name.

It does, but I cannot remember for the life of me what it was called. Star something..Star Ship? Star Traveler? Aaaaugh!

I can't remember!

My fav is demon/supernatural anime.:thumbsup2 Deathnote, Descendants of Darkness, Blood+, etc..

Yes I watch DUBS much to the chagrain of my anime/manga dd's. :lmao: They cannot stand it....they are anime SNOBS.:sad2: Brats....:headache:

My 12yodd says it could be Dragonball, Dragonball Z, or Super Dragonball Z. Or there are more. My 17yodd is sleeping and would probably know.

OK, 17yodd is awake and says it is not Dragonball, but she doesn't know what it is.
Sorry....I tried Skywalker.;)

My 2 older girls were very into Anime. We have traveled to Cons and they did the costuming and they had great times. We have gone to Baltimore, Cincinatti, Columbus and Toronto for Cons and my older daughter has been to some in Kentucky and Washington, DC. I no longer have to go with them since they are over 18 now but I was pretty impressed with the costumes people made and how much work they put into them.

I couldn't even tell you which ones they like anymore, but I know I have bought them Ceres, Fruits Basket (I think that is the name) and rama1/2. My daughter won an award for her Yuna costume in Toronto the first time we went.

How about Starship Troopers? Daughter tells me that is an old one.

This is an interesting thread. DH and I actually met at a local anime group and he proposed to me at one of the meetings a year later. We have a nice collection of anime on DVD and subscribe to both Shonen Jump and Shojo Beat to get a nice manga fix each month. We love going to cons so we can see all the new stuff in the viewing rooms and then keep an eye out so we can get more of a particular series or look at it on YouTube. Cartoon Network used to show some good stuff but they are sorely lacking now. However, there are some other stations that are starting to show things such as the SciFi Channel and Starz so that's good but most of the time we buy a series we're interested in since they're not usually shown on tv. One of my favs is Rozen Maiden and I'm hoping Funimation releases Traumend so I can complete my set since Geneon stopped distributing. Another really good one is Genshiken DH and I both get a kick out of that one.

Don't forget about Sailor Moon! :goodvibes

...heh...heh... my kids are gonna kill me for posting this pic! ;)

We love anime & manga and all things Japanese. My eldest daughter has taken 4 years of Japanese in school so far, and the youngest is going to start next year.

My personal favorite anime is Wolf's Rain and Escaflowne. Cowboy Bebop is good, too. We saw Steve Conte at Ohayocon a few years ago - he's the one who sings the theme songs from Bebop and Stray from Wolf's Rain Very cool.

Welcome everyone! I love various series of various genres: Sailor Moon, Vampire Knight, Naruto, Bleach, Death Note, Monkey High, Sensual Phrase, Battle Royale, and various others. At the moment I'm reading Ouran Host Club.

Great cosplay! :thumbsup2 We used to go to cons all the time, but haven't been to one in a couple of years. Maybe next year... I love shopping at anime conventions!!! :yay:

Oh, another favorite of mine is Totoro. I have a stuffed white Totoro sitting here on my desk right now. :goodvibes
