So just back from what was supposed to be a five day trip and turned into a nine day trip. Because of Disney overdose I'm going to make this abbreviated instead of traditional day by day. More thoughts at will. Works for me, hope it's not chaos to read!

Who: My bestfriend from childhood and I. Both 29.
What:Girls trip to the Yacht Club!

The Amazing:
Animal Kingdom! Who knew? The only reason we went was because we had a park hopper and thought we'd do all the parks. Turns out, this is one of my favorites. The safari was too cool, Everest made me want to puke. . . in a good way. . . the incooperation of animals into the park was great. I've heard "it's basically a big zoo". I disagree. Loved it!

-MNSSHP was the most fun I've had in a Disney park. I thought it would be a waste of money, but thought I'd give it a shot. The rides were all empty, the park looks amazing after dark, the atmosphere was fantastic, the Boo to You parade was a really entertaining production(and I'm a hard sell as I work in theater here in NYC myself), and the fireworks. THE FIREWORKS!!!! We watched from behind the castle, and at the end of the fireworks show, the fireworks literally SURROUND you, all sides and over your head. It was cool. I cried. Worth the price of admission.

-The Crowds: with fast pass, we didn't wait more than 15 minutes for anything all week, longest wait was the Safari at AK

The "Meh"
Disney Hollywood Studios- I haven't been to this park in a long time, but was sort of unimpressed. If I had to cut one off my list next time, this would be it. It was crowded, didn't seem to "flow", the atmosphere was blew. Don't know, just didn't do it for me this trip. And the Villian's store which used to be a highlight for me is now laaaame. It's 90% Nightmare and Pirate's stuff. I was really disappointed.

The "Bleh"
The concierege at the Yacht Club. Sherry. I had to use her twice. Once I had no idea how "Bleh" she was, the second time she was the only one there. Rude, condescending and inserting actually SMIRKS into the conversation. Worst Disney service ever, and I was neither particularly clueless, particularly demanding or at all rude. She should find a job elsewhere, she's obviously not happy. Vent, vent, vent.

The stomach flu. Yes, the stomach flu. After MNSSHP BFF went to bed not feeling well, and then was up all night, and most of the next day .. . well...I'm going to spare you the details. . . doing what the stomach flu does best. I thought it was food poisining, until I got it on departure day. I was too sick to get on the plane, had to pay for another two nights to sit around and convince myself I wasn't dying. No fun.

About Dining:
We ate at:
Boma: wonderful as always. Their soups are ALWAYS soooo good!
Le Cellier: Which was really, realy yummy, but I can't talk about it, because I had it before my stomach flu day, and in an ironic tragic turn, Le Cellier now makes me want to puke.
Beaches and Cream: Three times. With no wait. I had them make a really amazing concoction. Hot fudge sundae with added peanut butter and marshmallow sauce. I only with they could make it SMALLER, I felt like we wasted so much food.
Brown Derby: Cobb salad is ok, but nothing amazing. Grape fruit cake too bitter for me.
F&W Booths: I had wonderful german spaetzle and a great cheese plate. And not so great Lamb Sliders, I'm not a fan of horseradish which is in the sauce.
School Bread-Yum

About The Yacht Club:
This is my first time on Disney property and I'm mixed, the location of the Yacht Club is great, the pool is pretty fantastic, the lobby is pretty but the rooms are just adequate. My issue is the price for what you get. I had read "it's not worth the price you pay" and I have to agree. We didn't have any "problems" so to speak, it's just everything was so-so. The decor, the upkeep, the details. I've stayed at places from youth hostels to the Four Seasons and the Ritz. This place was Ritz prices, with nice motel rooms. In fact, my last two days, we stayed at The Holiday Inn. The YC was costing 400 a night after taxed, the Holiday Inn cost 100 a night with taxes. The Holiday Inn wasn't just nicer, but MUCH nicer, plus had free internet where I had been paying ten dollars a day at the YC. I'm not saying I hated it, I'm just saying, you have to weight how much you want to pay for location, and scrimp on quality.

Also, the rooms at the YC seem as if they all are connected to another with a shared door. I HATE that. The first night we asked to be moved because they family next door had a baby and those doors, it sounds like the kid is in your lap. The second room had a quieter family next door, but you can LITERALLY hear everything. Sneezing, sheets rustling. At one point we laughed because we could hear someone peeing. Seriously.

We also rented Sea Racers at the marina one afternoon. Was fun, but they should really be called Sea ModeratlyPacedWalkers ;)

All and all, not a HORRID trip, looking forward to next time.....sans the pukes.

Sounds like you had a great trip. sorry you didn't like the Yacht club all that much. I don't enjoy paying for overpriced rooms either, so now I belong to DVC. Worth the price, to me! Sorry you both got sick. That stinks when you are on vacation!

p.s., I can't wait to try the halloween party - ahhhh - some day!

Yes the Halloween party was fantaaaastic.

And it's actually not that I didn't like the Yacht Club. I did like it, quite a bit, I just recognize that it is HUGELY over priced for the hotel room. Again, if it's worth three hundred dollars more a night to be walking distance to Epcot, I suppose it's worth that for some people, but the rooms are clean and sufficient, not luxury.
