~ The Amazing Race ~ Season 16 ~

DS11 said last night. "It says 'dating' under those ladies names. But, they're girls. That's a silly typo." Looks like Amazing Race may be the catalyst for "the talk" about lesbians and gays. Please don't flame me, I'm not saying it's a bad thing.

ITA! DD11 has slowly been inquiring as well. Last night they mentioned they had only been together 5 months - I was wondering about the length of time the application process takes - I can't imagine being with someone just a couple of weeks and deciding to put in an application for Amazing Race! It would almost be like picking a random person off of the street to be your race partner!

Boy, they did know where they were going, too, huh? They still seemed to beat everyone there -- even after pulling off the road to let everyone ahead of them. Did you catch either Carol or Brandy asking how they got there so fast?

From what little we saw of them, I liked them. I, too, was hoping for a non-elimination round, but agree they were not a strong team and knew they wouldn't be around long. I also "get" what they were saying. There are people in my life that seem to think I'm not smart or capable because I'm "just" a mom. Granted, these people are on the outskirts of my life because that's where I keep them, but I know they are there. Also the service people who ask to speak to my dh about a broken vehicle or something. They assume I have no clue. Now, these women do have careers, but I kind of like they downplayed those. Their dds may choose not to have a high powered career, and I think they wanted to show them they could accomplish great things even without a bunch of letters after your name. I also just thought they were nice people. They were complimentary to each other and the other racers. I'm also sure that's why they didn't get as much air time as some of the other teams.

:rotfl2::rotfl2: I did catch that.....I also saw the Cowboys say that some were annoyed that they seemed to have a hand up in this leg......yup....right after laughing at them for mixing up their money.

I got what the Moms were saying. I was home with my kids for a while adn resented how some folks thought that meant I was there because I had to be rather than thatIi chose to be. The Moms seemed to want to show their DD's that they could do whatever they set themselves to do :thumbsup2

:lmao: Who knew? No flames, the conversation would come up sooner or later but who would have thought AR would lead to it ;)

Yeah but by wearing their "moms" tee-shirts and referring to themelves constantly as "moms," they're not really representing themselves as anything else. If you present yourself as "just a mom" that's how people will see you, and I too was getting irrationally annoyed with them by the end of last night's episode.

I'm glad they're gone!

Exactly. I was just like "D'oh!" here we go again. There's always something to explain when you have kids. I'm getting pretty good at it by now.

I watched Elimination Station this morning. The two teams there did not expect the moms to be the team eliminated. They were expecting the cops for sure or maybe the cowboys or the brothers. They were very surprised when the moms walked through the door.

Oops! Heads up for those watching in Canada....CTV is showing AR at 7:00 tonight because of the Oscars!

Thanks !!! I was just going to watch it at 8:00 but an hour earlier is even better. :thumbsup2

With that warning, I just turned on CBS to check - nope, no problem. 60 Minutes. It appears TAR will air at its regularly-scheduled time.

Thank heaven. I'm watching Terminator2 and can't stop now!

WOW!! Between the polka and the bar I'd be needing a pit stop real soon- lol.

Wow! I could do the sauerkraut but I don't know about the beer. My DH would have to drink most of it. I don't care for beer.

Did you see the look on one of the cowboy's face when they were about halfway through with the boot? :rotfl:

Glad Jordan and Jeff are still in the game.

Am glad for the cops. They ran a good race tonight. The cowboys did a good job at the soccer field too for not ever having played before. And the dad did an awesome job!

Didn't the cowboys say they didn't drink beer either, or maybe one said they never had a beer before. Then when they were getting the clue a guy at the bar was trying to give them another glass but can't remember what they said to him .

I too am glad Jeff and Jordan are still in it but I don't think they will make it to the end. Wonder how far back behind they were from the last team.

Anyone else suprised about a drinking challenge :confused3

Didn't seem the smartest idea to have the racers get a "buzz" in a foreign country.... A couple of the racers said they didn't drink or the one racer drank the whole boot... that's a lot of beer :rolleyes1

I'm glad Jeff and Jordan are still in the race but it looks like from the previews they get the yield, which is just going to put them farther behind:sad2::sad2:

The cops ran a really good leg and deserved the win. The two teams I can't stand finished as the last two so hopefully they are on the way out over the next 2 weeks.

I like Caite even less now. Her boyfriend pukes and she can't pony up and finish the beer. I don't care how much you don't like it, suck it up.

I don't know why Jordan was covering her ears and holding her nose at the eating challenge. All it does is slow you down and it isn't a surprise they didn't get it done. That is the kind of thing a 3 year old would do.

I think I am settling on the cowboys and the father daughter team as the two I would like to see win. Other then the two above there aren't any I don't like but those two are the ones I will start rooting for now.

Hey, FireDancer - is Caite pregnant? I don't know why I think that/where I read it, but if it's true, it'd explain why she didn't drink the beer. As for Jeff/Jordan - well, I know holding your nose eliminates much of the taste - but that only requires ONE hand. I don't get her blocking her ears, either. Pointless waste of time.

I don't remember them ever saying she was pregnant. She said in the bar that she doesn't like beer. I imagine she would have said she was pregnant instead if that was the case. I'm also no OB/GYN but I would think that bungee jumping isn't the best idea while pregnant.

The problem with holding the nose is that when you are trying to eat fast you need to keep breathing through your nose while continuing to eat. If you stop the eating to breathe through your mouth it will slow you down more then the hand being in the way. They knew it was sauerkraut so if she didn't like it they wouldn't have done it? Of course that is assuming she even knew what sauerkraut is.
