The Amazing Race 7...official Thread

Ohhh myyy Goooddddddd...... SCALES!!! SCALES!!!! Meredith!! Fix your hair!!! Meredith, Fix your bag! Ohhh Myyy GOOOOODDDDDDDD!!!!

Wow, can that woman's voice carry! I was LOL that Meredith could tell when she was coming down the tower from behind the gate! When she was going on about the difficulty of climbing the rope ladder (and I give her props because I know those things are hard to climb) I was thinking "sheesh woman, maybe if you stop yak yak yaking and conserve your breath you might get a couple of more rungs in..lol

I almost died when Rob's joke came back and bit him in the butt! :rotfl2: I love Rob... he is so much like a former boyfriend of mine from the same area - they even look alike - and I always got a kick out of his snarky humor. I'm sure he will be upset with himself for opening his big mouth but I bet he will just crack a joke at his own expense and not throw a fit like other guys like Jonathon or Colin would do.

I think if the final 3 ends up including G and M and J and U - the third team has better than average odds of winning unless an outside circumstance causes them a delay. I like J and U and G and M (When Gretchens mouth is closed..lol) but they are two of the poorest teams when it comes to following directions and completing tasks. How many times have those teams gotten lost looking for a clue or a stop? They need to be more careful and read the clues over and over again if they want to finish this race in the top. Look at how many times one of them did have a substantial lead over the other teams and it dwindled away to next to nothing because of mistakes. Rob and Amber and Kelly and Ron practically caught up to Gretchen and Meredith last night even through they had nearly a 2 hour head start on them!

As far as Kelly is concerned with her comment to Ron last night - I don't care if she was upset that Ron said he wasn't ready for a commitment, that comment she made was rude, callous and harsh and showed a lot about her personality. That's like telling someone that they got out of working because they had cancer or they got out of being a parent because their child died. She may be a beauty queen  on the outside but she is far from beautiful on the inside.

HI Dis friends,

Can anyone tell me what happened during the first 15 minutes. I missed that part. I remember last week Rob mentioned about the other two teams, "blind leading the blind".

PAdisneyfan -- can you tell me what websites you read about the gossip of reality tv people? Thanks!

I love Amazing Race!

I thought last night's episode was good. I love Rob & Amber and Rob's comments coming back around on him cracked me up. He just can't keep his mouth shut...you know sooner or later, it'll come around. Too funny. I hope they win!

I thought Ron's response to Kelly's comment was hysterical. She keeps trying to get a rise out of him & he will not bite for the most part. I think it's great.

G & M? It's impressive how far they've made it (although a lot of it has been through sheer luck), but I'm ready for them to go.

U & J ran a great leg last night, I hope they finish second.

Question: Is there 1 more yield left? R&A better move up or they will be yielded.

My breakdown:

Rob and Amber: They sure looked pretty funny when they realized they were in 3rd, not 1st place. I think some of their comments about the other teams were terrible, but you have to give him some credit. Part of the reason for saying about the earlier flight was to see if G&M and U&J had information about one, which was pretty smart. And they did make a good effort to find another flight and were told there wasn't one by several travel agencies. Makes you wonder about India's business practices.....And finally when they realized they were in 3rd, they didn't scream and yell at each other (ala a Colin or Jonathon) but instead just buckled down and focused on the race.

Ron and Kelly: I am so sick of them. I don't like either one. They are about as interesting as two rocks. As the lesser of evils, I hope they get third.

Joyce and Uchenna: They seemed to run a good race last night. I like them and wouldn't mind if they won, but I just don't seem to connect with them too much.....I just hope that they keep running clean legs and don't keep getting lost like they have a tendency to do.

Gretchen and Meredith: Omigod, please get them off the show. Her constant whining drives me insane. I am going to have an anuerysm from screaming at her to be quiet. And, they should be eliminated simply for not being about to follow a single clue. I mean, they are constantly getting help from the other teams and the make TONS of mistakes. It is time for them to go home......

She may be a beauty queen on the outside but she is far from beautiful on the inside

ditto or the outside for that matter....I hope Ron dumps her they are so wrong for each other.

While I am glad Gretchen and Meredith have gotten this far, I do not think they deserve to win and hope they get eliminated next round. Gretchen is always belly aching and you would think that age would make them more savvy but that attribute has seemed to slip by them completely.

My Money is on Rob and Amber or Uchenna and Joyce I'll be happy if either of these teams win.

Yes, it was great that Rob and Amber had a set down (I still want them to win), but it is their first REALLY BIG mistake of the game. Also, just from his big mouth, they wouldn't of looked for an earlier flight if he hadn't of said anything.
It was amazing that it came down to the catching the rail that seperated them.
Rob was wise, to distance themselves from Ron and Kelly, because he didn't want to fell obligated to stay with them.
I don't know about the yield or fast forward...are there any left of either??

I only remember there ever being one time where the team with the fast foward barely beat everyone and that was season one
The Guidos took the FF and came in last, but stayed in the game because the mother/daughter team skipped part of a task and got a penatly which caused them to lose enough time to be eliminated. There was also a father/son team which took the FF in season 2 or 3 (it was in England, IIRC) and arrived at the pit stop last and were eliminated. Sometimes the FF is so far out of the way it's not worth it, but I guess you don't know that at the time.

no more fast forwards (2 in this race - ray/deanna did first one)
I think one yield is left (there were 3 I think in this race? no one has used either of the first 2 yet)

People keep commenting on this and it kind of upsets me. They are 20-40 years older than the people on the other teams. It's a lot harder for them. Yes, her voice can get annoying, but I commend them so much for what they have been able to do and still be respectful to each other. I'll take the whining over calling people stupid and saying that someone chose to be a POW any day :flower:

Why does our opinions of Merideth and Gretchen upset you? Unless they are friends of yours or someone you know personally, they are a couple chosen to go on a TV show, and they were chosen because of their personality. Do you really think a sweet, timid, quiet old lady would of been picked over Gretchen and her over-reaction to everything? That being said, we the viewer's have every right to be annoyed with the producer's choice of personality. Just like we were all annoyed with Jonathan and his abuse and screaming last season, now we have Gretchen's voice to be annoyed with. I don't think people saying that Gretchen's voice is like finger nails on a chalkboard (which is IS) or how many times can she says OMG (btw, that phrase is offensive to some, it is taking the Lord's name in vain) has anything to do with how well they are doing in the race at the age they are. If she were 20 years old, and had the same grating voice, and over dramatic reactions to a dismal situation, we would be saying the same things.

I am not trying to start anything here, but when I read that our comments were upsetting to you, I had to reply to it, because I am dumbfounded that someone can get upset over our opinions of a "celebrity". In this situation, Gretchen is only known because she is on a national TV program, IMO that makes her a celebrity, if only for 15 minutes.

I am sorry that our annoyance at Gretchen is upsetting to you. But, she really does annoy the heck out of me, to a point where I can't stand it, so my remedy for that is to complain about it. Last night, I called my sister. As soon as she got on that ladder and started her moaning, I called my sister to grate my teeth and say how much I cannot stand her and her whining for another second. I whined to my sister WHY WHY WHY did Merideth allow her to do this task? And I was frozen with fear when I thought about how hard it was for Uchenna to figure out where the key was, and memories of the box hunting came flooding back. I thought for sure we were going to be giving another opportunity to hear Gretchen moan and whine about how terrible this was, and where is that darn key.(and she would not of been able to go to Merideth for a 'hug') By the Grace of God, we were spared that, but I was afraid all the same.

Yes it is great that they are, and I am not even going to say 20, they are at least 30 years older than the other teams. But, in lieu of that, they (or I should say Gretchen) is annoying as hell, and we are not afraid to say so! ;)

The reason the Guidos were last is because they thuoght they had soooo much of a lead that they goofed around it was their own fault they were so late.

The father/son team was waaaay behind before the FF. they did the FF hoping to catch up but it just wasn't enough.

I don't think in either case it was the FF taking too long or being to far but rather how far behind the teams were to start out or how they goofed around.

This time, I believe that J/U spent a lot of time getting lost before they found the FF and that was the problem.

I really enjoyed last night’s episode.

I’m glad that Uchenna and Joyce came in first again—they worked really hard and thought through things well. I thought it was pretty good karma that they won after Rob called them stupid and said they just follow others. I swear that Rob thinks that no one can win the race without him leading them around.

Good for Gretchen for climbing up that castle. She did a good job of not freaking out when it got difficult. I do think she must be shocked while watching the footage at just how many times she says, “Oh my God!” Even though they came in 2nd this leg, I don’t think they’re really very good at the race. They seem to only do well when following others. They also get confused and tired very easily. Though I do have to give them credit—I don’t think I have the energy for the race now, much less at their age!

Well, Kelly’s comment about Ron being a POW was just as obnoxious as it seemed in the previews from last week. I just don’t think she’s getting the message that Ron doesn’t want to get married yet. Hello, Kelly, it’s not that he can’t commit to anything, it’s that he doesn’t want to commit to you right now. I loved how well Ron did with the columns task. I don’t think any other team would’ve figured it out that quickly. I loved his comment in his deep Southern drawl, “Boy knows how to read a map!” Despite my dislike for Kelly, I still like Ron. I’m glad it was a non-elimination leg so they’re still in it. There is just something so funny about miss priss having to finish the race with nothing but the clothes on her back. I wonder if Uchenna and Joyce will give them clothes too.

Rob and Amber actually got on my nerves this week. In the past episodes I have found Rob’s cockiness to be rather amusing, but it got a little old this week. I’m glad they missed the better flight. Perhaps he’ll realize that the game isn’t in the bag—he’s got to work for it. All the other teams aren’t stupid like Rob seems to think.

I can’t wait for next week’s episode—it looks like some of the teams that have gotten along so well will come to blows next week. Must be one interesting road block!

I love Amazing Race!

The first clue was to fly to Istanbul. At the airport, Rob jokingly asked Gretchen if they had gotten on the earlier flight (they were all on the supposedly earliest flight with a stop in Delhi arriving in Turkey at 8:30am or so). That got G&M and U&J thinking that there must be an earlier flight and they got on a guy's cell phone and tracked down a flight to Istanbul from Delhi stopping in Dubai that arrived at 6:30am. In Delhi, R&A and R&K tried to find a quicker flight but were told by at least two agents that there wasn't one. So they got on the later flight wondering where U&J and M&G were and thinking they were way ahead. When R&A got to the ferry to the island the boat captain told them there had already been two teams a few hours before and R&A were dumbfounded. (R&K were right behind, they had just missed the train at the airport). They showed Rob dissing on U&J and M&G at the airport before they knew they had been passed up. It was pretty funny, Rob was his cocky self. I am a R&A fan, but it was nice to see them get bit in the behind from Rob's own cockiness!

Here is the link http://p085.ezboard.com/bsurvivorsucks

From there you can get to the other reality shows.

Here is the list of roadblocks done:

Rob = 5 - Amber = 4

Ron = 5 - Kelly = 4

Uchenna = 5 - Joyce = 3 (one less total than everyone else due to FF in ep 8)

Meredith = 5 - Gretchen = 4

From the previews the people doing the roadblocks are:

Rob, Meredith, Joyce and Kelly

Rob and Meredith will have 6 completed after next week and that means that Gretchen and Amber would have to do the remaining ones.

On the AR clips from CBS, Amber realized that she should have done the spear throwing one and that was a mistake on their part. Depending on the remaining roadblocks could make a difference.

I rechecked the Meredith and Gretchen website that was up yesterday. Really interesting that you no longer have assess to it. It did only discuss the episodes that were already shown, but the question on all the boards are you really allowed to talk about all that while the show is still going on.

I really don't care for either Ron or Kelly, her comment last night didn't bother me as much as on the preview. Partly because Ron just brushed it off. I have also read where Ron has not exactly been Mr. Nice Guy to Kelly during this. Apparently the brothers and Rob had done some interventions with him regarding his behavior toward Kelly. The editing is making her out to be the villian but I think it is a 2 way street. Plus they are no longer together and it is water under the bridge at this point. I had also read as someone commented earlier that he is divorced with a small child.

Back to my real job.

I know that Ron and Kelly have to start with no money...but what are the rules about getting money?

If they were smart, they would email someone at home and ask them to wire them some money Western Union the next morning, just after they started the race. :)
That's a good thought, but I doubt they are allowed to contact people from home. R/K are staying at the Four Seasons there will be plenty of people there from which they could beg for money. I just hope the hotel is close to the pit stop since they can't get any money until after they get the first clue.

Good show! I am not a M/G "fan", but I've got to give that old lady credit for climbing that castle and repelling down! :cool1:

Did anybody else pick up where Phill told R/K that they must START the race out with no money? I remember other teams begging for money during the pit stop so they could start out with whatever they needed. I'm thinking that R/K will have to start their "begging" when the others have started racing.

Could be an disadvantage this time!

Also, Phil also said the scale thing was a common practice in Turkey. I can't imagine, people just weight each other in the streets? :rotfl2:

I have officially declared Meredith and Gretchen as the AR worst racers. They only made the early flight because U/J got the flight for them. They can never find the clues, always pick the harder detours, go the wrong way constantly and looks like next week U/J have to help them at a roadblock. No way does Rob have all the luck, it is only pure luck that this team has made it this far. It is certainly not on their racing ability.

I totally agree with this. It is amazing that they have made it this far. I give them kudos for their endurance at their age, but they have made countless mistakes. I think their time has come, but somehow they keep hanging on.

I think others begged after the pit stop. Sometimes it was while they were waiting for something to open up at their first stop, or immediately after leaving the pit stop, but since all we ever see of the pit stop is the occasional glimpse of the teams eating or talking, I don't think that was where they did their begging. They all get their clue and sort of groan about how they have no money, so I think they've all started out like that.

Also, Phil also said the scale thing was a common practice in Turkey. I can't imagine, people just weight each other in the streets? :rotfl2:

OMG, yes! I had forgotten about that, but that was my reacation when he said it, people actually DO that there?!? Why on Earth?!!! :rotfl:

Here are my comments about last night's race:

Joyce and Uchenna
I'm really starting to pull for this team. They are now my favorites. Way to turn a 2 minute lead into a 2 hour lead! Whoo hoo!.

Gretchen and Meredith
I have to say that I really admired Kvetchin' Gretchen when she did the Roadblock and I was quite happy they came in third. I don't know if they'll be able to make it to the final three, but I'm rooting for them over Ron and Kelly. I was pulling out my hair when they kept on going the wrong way and getting lost. Arrgggg!

TTWSNBN
Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha ....
The look on Amber's face was priceless! What goes around comes around and they got a big bite in the butt from Indian Karma. What's especially delicious is that they did nothing wrong. They didn't make a mistake, they tried to get an earlier flight, they went to multiple places to try to get an earlier flight but were denied. "I am so done with India." Rob, India is done with you! I still hope they lose.

Ron and Kelly
Do Ron and Kelly really have to start the leg off with nothing? I recall the Uchenna and Joyce and Ron and Kelly gave things to Meredith and Gretchen the night of their non-elimination before starting out the next day. My guess is that M&G will return the favor done to them because that's the kind of people they are. I will also go on a limb here and say the TTWSNBN will give their new friends nothing. I think the only reason they were last is because they didn't haul butt to get to the train. It seemed that they missed the train by less than a minute. That minute cost them the round since Ron was so good at the "poles" game which they finished very quickly.

I think if any of the other teams help Ron & Kelly, then they are idiots, or they just don't care if they win. There are 4 teams left & if you can get an advantage over someone, you need to keep it.

I think they must have changed the rule about starting the leg with no money after last season. I remember in past seasons, teams begging at the hotel (Colin & Christie come to mind) before leaving for the next leg.
