The Amazing Race 7...official Thread

Newsflash!!

This is may be first but in the Nielson ratings Amazing Race outnumbered The Apprentice.

I'm really surprised that this reality show doesn't do better than Survivor. I personally think that this show is more suspenseful than Survivor anyday.

Gotta love the Amazing Race!!! :cheer2:
TAR is way better than Survivor (and I used to be a Survivor nut-I still watch), but so many people don't know about it. I'm surprised at how many people tell me they've never seen it. I tell them they don't know what they're missing!

Count me as another one who is happy the boyfriends are gone. I think they would have been fun to watch if they weren't so obsessed with Rob and Amber.

I definitely give credit to Joyce for cutting her hair, that could not have been easy.

I was also surprised that there was no prize given for this leg, especially considering it was a double leg and they knew there was a possibility that someone could have their hair cut off. I understand they might not have enough sponsors for every leg, but you think they would make sure last night's leg would have a prize attached to it.

I think someone else mentioned that Uchenna and Joyce did not look to have a great lead on the others. It really looked like they just made it in there to be first. I guess they got really lost, which they seem to do a lot. I just hope they can pull it together to win.

I also have to give credit to Meredith and Gretchen for coming in the top four, that's really amazing and I'm happy for them for making it this far. I think it does a lot for people who are watching at home wanting to do this race and thinking they can't. I think Meredith and Gretchen show that you don't have to be young and strong to go far.

I'm wondering if they'll just have two teams going for the million. Since they have two non-eliminations left, I wonder if they would do back to back non-elminations, which they would have to do to have three teams going for the million. I really thought last night would be the non-elimination since it was a double leg.

I also was shocked at Kelly's comment in the upcoming episode. I'm sure she's going to live to regret that one.

I think so too and I just started watching this season. I had heard that it was great but the previews just never peaked my interest enough to stop and watch. I think it was the 2nd (maybe 3rd) ep I flipped and saw Rob and Amber and stopped to see how they were doing. Well, needless to say I've been hooked ever since. DH even watches with me and he hardly ever "asks" to watch a show or gets into it. Wish I'd have started watching sooner! Survivor on the other hand, I've watched since day 1.

OMG, me too!!! I'm not a poster on this thread, but I watch the show every week, and when I saw that, I just sat there with my jaw on the floor!!! Like he WANTED to be a P.O.W.?!?!?!?! :confused3 Every week she gets nastier towards him, it really looks like she's getting sick of him. :sad2:

Part of me wonders if that was one of those producer edited scenes.... to give us the sheepish watchers a new "nemesis" to root against....
how many people had that same jaw on the floor... Kelly dishes out the shock and awe!!!

I really haven't seen a REAL Jonathon/Collin or even a Kendra type person on AR7, until now... They tried to make Ray/Deana like that... but they're gone...

Later,
Paul

G/M: Am I the only one who remembers Gretchen telling Meredith that she thought she should/could get down and *he* either ignored her or told her to stay where she was? She wanted to get down and help push, but no one would help her down. That's not her fault in my opinion. I agree, she does panic under pressure. Personally, I'd like to see them come in third. :)[/QUOTE]

I was just thinking that. She said she needed to get down but they wouldn't stop pushing the elephant. If she would have tried to climb off of that thing by herself while it was moving, she would have busted her head open again!

I agree... she is beyond annoying.... :sad2:

I also agree with statement #2 and hope Uchena and Joyce win!!!

I am bummed the couple is out of the race. :D they were my fav team.

I was really touched by Uchena when Joyce had her hair cut.

re: the ratings.....I think the show moves too fast for most people. Although this season has seemed to slow down some. I know that I could not watch it really well if I didn't have TIVO. I need to be able to watch it after the children are in bed and when I can pause and rewind as needed.

Yes, that's true. The reason she was up there in the first place is because the Indian man told her to get up in it. Once she realized she didn't have to be there she told Meredith she could get down, but it was too crowded and too chaotic and she couldn't manage to get out. Then the other teams commented how selfish she was to ride up there and make poor Meredith pull her. Ugh! It's the same on these boards too. So many people are so negative against them. Why? Just because she has sort of an annoying voice? Is that worse than making rude comments about the military or Indian labor? Is that worse than grabbing strange children and forcing them to help you? Is that worse than calling your SO a stupid redneck? Is that worse than forcefully pushing people to get ahead of them? I sure don't think so. I really commend them for how far they have come. My mother and I get so annoyed that more and more reality shows are becoming 90% 20-30 year olds who are all perfect looking & who will fool around with each other because it will get ratings. I think it's awesome how well they have done. Annoying voice or not, I really hope they continue on. Did you even notice that Gretchen was getting upset because they were trying to hurry after the camels and she said to Meredith 'what's wrong with us, we never talk to each other this way.' They are so kind and caring to each other and are mutually responsible for the tasks.

I'll reserve my comments about Rob and Amber- I think Jacksonsmom spoke for me earlier with her comments. They are ICK

Ron and Kelly- no real strong feelings either way. Don't really like them, but don't really hate them.

Uchenna and Joyce- I hope they win. I could have never cut my hair. Other posters have said they could have done it for a million dollars, but you have to remember, it's for a CHANCE at a million dollars. There was no guarantee for her when she cut her hair, and that takes guts!

I did like Lynn and Alex- they provided some humor and amusement for me :)

EXACTLY!! I would have if the finish mat would have been 20 feet away!!! But not knowing what will happen over the next few legs of the race. :earseek: Anyway, she was very brave, looked good, and I was disappointed that they didn't win an extra prize for being first to the pit stop. Maybe they don't give away prizes when there is a fast forward.? I hope they win she has earned it. And the editing made it look like everyone was coming in on their heels; I hope they got a great lead and get to keep it (flight schedules, business hours, etc hold them up).

Didn't Ray & Deena win the cars when they did the fast forward?

Meredith, we got a bad elephant!!! :rotfl2:

Meredith is an incredible man. Did ya'll catch that when Gretchen got down she said she shouldn't have gotten up there and he said "that's okay, you had fun." :cheer2:

I know! They are just too cute!

Joyce and Uchenna should have won cars or a trip or something....i know that they got the fast forward but the producers should have realized what a huge sacrifice that would have been for most competitors and provided a big surprise for those who completed it...BOOOO :sad2: to the producers for not being gracious. Her husband was so supportive and I was so glad to see her not whine and cry...she just faced it and went for it! YOU GO GIRL!!!

Gotta add, though, that I think it's quite refreshing that Ron/Kelly have hooked up with Rob/Amber. They even passed a comment that it was nice being able to sit and talk with them and get to know them more than "the race" and that they think Rob's a nice guy. See, what you see isn't always what you get.

Anyone see Survivor?? Rob was ALWAYS nice to people's faces...

'Nuff said.

I was upset too the Joyce/Uchenna did not win a trip, but remember the first season, they only gave away 1 trip the whole season. When the next seasons started it was like all airlines wanted to jump on the bandwagon and trips were given out each season. Maybe the sponsors are just backing down a bit with the free vacations.

Who was the person who had the prizes down to a pattern? It was prize, prize, no prize prize, prize, and this was the next leg, so it would follow that it would be no prize.

Okay, I just watched the videos over on CBS.com. Wow, Lynn and Alex always bothered me, but really. The video of them on the mat was so dumb. Get over Rob and Amber. Perhaps if you weren't so busy trying to beat them or better them, you might still be in the race.

And the Amberexia thing was totally over the line. She was skinny back on Survivor, but way to go Lynn. Your big mouth just keeps getting bigger.

Any of the four teams remaining should win the Race. I'm cheering for them all now. I would love it if Rob and Amber won, because it would piss Lynn and Alex off even more, but all of the teams left deserve to win, as far as I'm concerned. I'll reserve comment on Kelly until I see her comment during the whole episode.

What did he say? (I can't view the videos while at work)
