The Amazing Race 7...official Thread

I have my DH hooked on the Amazing Race...lol!! He was in his glory last night because several years ago he went to India for his company (with several other employees) to help set up a plant over there....when he was there in June, it was 127 degrees and he said between the heat and the stench, it was unbearable!! He kept saying about the rickshaws (he had hired one for the 6 week period for like $30.00 and the guy was at his beck and call and was thrilled to be paid that much money (rupees). DH kept saying wait until the horns start beeping because there is no logical traffic pattern over there...you just drive wherever and just keep beeping and have to contend with bicycles, rickshaws, people walking, cows, etc. and you just keep weaving in and out...DH said he sometimes had his heart in his throat!! He also pointed out that the cows roam in and out of everywhere...one came right through a restaurant that him and his buddies were eating at and no one dares to shoo them. DH ate mostly bananas for 6 weeks since that was the only safe item to eat because they are not big on refrigeration and it would be a good way to get sick. He laughed when Ron pointed out that it stunk since BO is quite common over there. All in all, it was an experience for DH which he has always said that he would never repeat!!

This reminds me of when someone, gretchen I think? said they would love to drink some of the tea...I thought oh no...not if you don't want to be in the bathroom all day you don't! :rotfl:

Stacey...agree with you about the bathroom thing....forgot to mention that there is a shortage of toilet paper over there so the company would ship boxes of the stuff over to the employees and half of it would never reach them. DH took a few rolls over with him!! The other funny thing was that in the town that he was in, there were no banks...you went down to the corner and saw the guy who was sitting at the cardboard box...the money changer!! Forget about using credit cards except in the big cities!!

He was saying that the meat hung all day long in some of the shop windows with flies all over them....yumm....thus him eating so many bananas....his potassium levels must have been wonderful!!

Here were the departure times from the pitstop this week:
(after coming in from the "milk the goats & balancing items" detour and "clearing the road" roadblock)

Rob & Amber 12:45 am

Ron & Kelly 12:46 am

Uchenna & Joyce 2:08 am

Lynn & Alex 3:00 am

Meredith & Gretchen 3:45 am

They were all equalized with the charter plane flight.

Regarding the Yields:

My mistake, I thought there was 2, because of last season.
There were actually 3 yields last season as well. The first one was right before the hayroll roadblock, no one was yielded. The second yield was before the temple roadblock, Freddy & Kendra were yeilded by Rebecca & devil boy (name???), and the third yield was before the skyscraper roadblock were Rebecca & DB were yeilded by Freddy & Kendra.

I can see why Ron & Kelly didn't yield Rob & Amber, would you want to deal with Rob's :headache: ? Especially with everyone being there at the same time. Maybe if they thought they could get in and out of there before the yielded team arrived, that might be different, :confused3 There is also the possiblity of revenge down the road :duck: . The later teams were suprised that no one had been yielded.

I think at the next yield we will see someone get yielded.

I think I have it figured out. Rob has an aura about him that turns other people stupid. Look at all the opportunities there were to vote him out on Survivor All Stars, yet people don't learn from the past...

Ron: "Should I yield you?"

Rob: <waving his hand>... "These aren't the droids you're looking for."

Ron: "We choose not to yield"

Jedi Rob!

Do you remember on Survivor All-Stars when the tribes got shuffled and Amber was the only one who ended up on the other tribe? Rob leaned over to Lex after the immunity challenge and told him not to vote Amber out and they didn't! That boy definitely has Jedi mind powers. :rotfl2:

It really wasn't your wording, I actually was talking about this with my DH and we were wondering it last night if you are last if you can yield someone ahead of you...that would make it interesting if they had to stop wherever they were and wait.

I don't think they can yield a team that is ahead of them. The rules of the yield is the team that is yielded has to turn the hour glass over and wait. Well, the hour glass is right there at the yield stop, they would not call the team back. That is why each team that arrives takes their names off the board.

Did anybody watch the insider videos on CBS? Lynn and Amber got into a confrontation at the airport and Lynn said some REALLY not so nice things to her. :earseek: I'm sure that is why they were so surprised that Romber didn't yeild them.

where is the video? is it on the cbs site? I don't have real player but will download it if its worth watching :)

Well, darn. I wish they would just show the clip of the argument, rather than us seeing each person's side of the argument. The clip certainly didn't improve my impression of Lynn & Alex.

I've never really been a big Lynn & Alex fan, but after watching those clips I REALLY don't like them. As far as the argument with Amber, that sounds like it was two sided, but their general tone in all the clips was just catty and bitter. I really hope they are gone soon. Everyone there seems to be genuinely enjoying themselves except them.

I have the worse time getting real play to work on my computer. Sometimes it will load the videos and others time it won't. Plus it takes forever to load them. I guess it is all the firewalls and antivirus things that interfere.

If I'm remembering correctly, I think the second plane was only about 10-15 minutes behind the first one.

I just rewatched the episode, & they did show the arrival times. Originally, R & A and R & K's flight left at 4am (the gates closed at 3:15am) & was scheduled to arrive at 9:30am. The later flight left at 6am, scheduled to arrive at 9:35am. The early flight actually arrived at 9:44am, the later arrived at 9:52am. At least I'm pretty sure that's right. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. :flower:
