The Amazing Race 7...official Thread

Excuse me, but should we who want to discuss the Amazing Race start a new AR thread, or would all you who are talking about DVR's, VCR's and how shows tape like to move it to it's own thread?

I hate to be rude, but one or two comments about TIVO's messing up is fine, but the conversation has been ongoing, and even after we got it back OP, some people are still bringing it up. I say it is time to start your own thread. IMO.
Thank you. :flower:

sheesh...sorry

Oh man, Gretchen annoyed the heck out of me in last night's episode! She spent so much time whining and crying about those boxes-- wandering around aimlessly-- she could have found the thing in no time if she had just focused! Argh. I wish it had been an elimination so the two of them would be OUT!

Oh I hear ya! I cannot stand her CONSTANT whining! Even in the taxi crowd, you could hear her voice over all others! "OH MY GOD" "OH MY GOD" That is all she says.

I wonder if she realizes that some religious people take offense to that phrase. I think of that every week, and wonder if the producer's who edit the show realize it also.

It did not seem like she was in with the boxes for more than 5 minutes, when she was already feeling overwhelmed. And when she came out and asked Meredith for a hug! LOL I was thinking, "Forget the hug sister, GET IN THERE and keep looking!"

What do we know about Gretchen, she can't do physical tasks, and now, we learn she can't do any task that requires thought process and patience.

Someone asked for the finale date. My guess is the 2 hour finale will be May 3rd. Next week, April 19, will be a non-elimination, leaving the same 5 teams for the next week, April 26th. April 26th episode will eliminate the 5th place team. So, that leaves 4 teams left for the May 3rd episode. And typically, the final 4 go into the 2 hour finale, with the 4th place team being eliminated in the 1st hour, and the 3 top teams racing to the finish in the last hour. Does that help?

Sweeps are in May, which is why all the shows end then. Sweeps go until at least Mid May. I would think CBS would want to keep this show on until the end of sweeps (unless they have a better show or special to fill the time slot in May). My guess is the finale will be on May 10. that is 4 weeks. I predict a non-elim next week, then an elimination, then a non elimination, then the 2 hour finale. That takes four teams into the finale (as in past races) on May 10. They could stretch it to May 17 (which is the last week of sweeps), by adding another elimination round and taking in only 3 teams to the finale (which they did in the earlier races). Just my guess though!

Gretchen was on my nerves last night. Who knows how long she was there, but she sure did waste a lot of time walking around and whining. And her voice is GRATING on my nerves. I am almost to the point of muting it everytime they are on.

I loved the move Rob made at that airport. Too funny. Lynn and Alex were trying to one up them, and they got burned in the end. The funny part was, Rob knew exactly what they were going to do, so he just waited until they left and used the computer inside. Too funny.

How dumb were Ron and Kelly not to use the yield on Rob and Amber. Rob even said it himself, they should have used it on them. And, I am sure if Lynn and Alex got to the yield first, they would have definitely used it on ROb and Amber.

I am not surprised about there not being a pit stop. They weren't in India that long. Plus, they just came from a pit stop and travelled for a long time so they could get some form of rest on the plane. Next week looks funny with the camels.

Thanks for getting this thread back on topic! I was thinking the same thing.....

OMG, it's becoming painful to watch and listen to Gretchen....in my opinion. Her constant whining is over the top.

I knew it wasn't going to be a "pit stop". Everyone kept saying "it's the pit stop" or something to that effect and all the clue said was "to Phil and the mat". You just had to know it wasn't. LOL Good twist.

Oh you're right! I forgot the 3rd non-elimination. So, yes, I think the Finale will be May 10.

I noticed Amber was the only one to pick up on it! She said, "There is something wrong here, it just says go to the mat, not the pit stop"

I forgot to mention that, yes.

Ron is soooooo stupid!!!!!!! Why would you not yield Rob & Amber when they are right on your trail??????

I can not wait to see Ron & Kelly out of there (along with Rob & Amber)

GO LYNN & ALEX!!!!!!! :teeth:

I agree, great show!

I knew it wasn't going to be another elimination week. The twist of getting the next clue from Phil was great! Though, it sure would have been funny to have an actual pit stop and have Phill "strip" Meredith and Gretchen again. The poor woman probably would have had a nervous breakdown! ;)

Why, or why were the locals asking M&G for their autograph & cheering them like rock stars? They didn't do "that" with the other contestants.

I had to laugh, too, when Rob & POW guy (can't remember his name) put the LADIES scarfs on their heads. :rotfl2:

Honestly, I believe they had every intention of yielding R&A. They talked about it in the Rickshaw, and they knew they had to get to the mat 1st. What happened, is they did not expect R&A to be RIGHT THERE with them. If they got to the mat, and R&A were nowhere in sight, you bet they would of yielded them. But, Rob was right there, saying "what are you going to do? I should warn you, this is probably a non-elimination leg, so we'll still be in the race." So, his amazing skill of convincing people to do his will work again!

I think it is another magic trick of editing. I have a feeling the other teams did get the same treatment. We saw a hint of it when R&A were coming through. They had the locals chanting and clapping.

I think Ron and Kelly didn't use the yield on R/A because they were floating on their tails. If they yielded them, they would have had to figure things out on their own and it seems they felt more secure with them there.

I like Gretchen and Meredith, but I agree about her being whiny last night. I also had to mute her in the taxi group and the steel box task. I can't believe they've made it this far. I give them kudos for sticking with it.

I don't think Rob convinced them, I think they were just not gutsy enough to do it with Rob/Amber standing right there.....it was pretty stupid of them NOT to yield them.

What did you guys think of the tea stealers? LOL! :rotfl:

I think that the tea delivery was a real task, meaning, those workers ordered and paid for the tea to be delivered. The owner of the tea shop required the business cards, so he could be sure the right customers got the tea.

1st, you had the guy try to swindle Rob (BAD move! LOL) and then, the other guy had Gretchen all but convinced he was the one who ordered the tea. I wonder waht she would of done if the right guy was not in the room. It looked like she was ready to give him the tea without the business card.

I thought it was too funny!

Ok - did ANYONE just bust out laughing after Alex found the clue at the Steel Box place and did that little dance? Too freakin' funny.

Lynn and Alex are not Rob/Amber haters - they hate anyone ahead of them which now includes Ron/Kelly. I think they were dang smart to team up with Gretchen/Merideth...I think it's because when it comes down to it...they know (L&A) that they can beat G/M...why wouldn't you want the...sorry...slower team in the finals with you?

Gretchen is annoying as all get out...when they were at that pre-pay thing...her whining was just driving me BONKERS.

oh - and I love my Tivo :p
heheheh

I thought the locals as a whole were pretty amusing last night. All the onlookers-- just throngs of them-- they kept getting in everyone's way. :rotfl: I guess seeing an American TV show being filmed there would be sort of a curiosity!

I think it was a good move by Ron not to yield Rob and Amber. They did get this far by forming an alliance with them and to move on further in the game they need to continue to follow Rob and Amber. Plus for Rob it has given him some control over Ron and Kelley. I'm betting this will be a non elimination round when it ends next week so if you did yield them they would still be there. Is there one more yield?

Even if you don't like Rob and Amber you have to admit that they know how to play the game. They have been the most consistent team and they know how to read the clues and follow them.

I read somewhere that the final episode is May 10th.

That was the last yield in the race. There are only 2 yields. I was laughing when Alex was DUMBFOUNDED that R&A did not yield them. He was like, "Why on earth didn't they yield us?" HAHAHAHAHA :rotfl: Maybe because Rob does not see you as a threat!!!! :rotfl:
