Do you have a link? I'd love to read it. I love to read all the stories about AR.

They changed it from 12 to 8. We weren't going to sign up this year because DD turns 12 in June, but we found out by accident that they had lowered the age...so we scurried and got our application in. I read an article that said Phil was surprised that they had lowered the age...and I've wondered if maybe they did it so that Rupert's DD could participate. PURE speculation there.

In any case, we haven't heard anything yet...

Honestly, though, I don't believe Rupert's DD is any older than 6 or 7. I guess only time will tell. :confused3

I just found an article from 2004 that said she was 4. So, you're right, that would make her 5 (or maybe 6, if they were saying she was 4 when the first Survivor was filmed.)

Ridiculous. The only parallels are: they are a race and it is not staged. NASCAR teams have direction as to what to do during an accident. They following the regulations of the NASCAR Sanctioning Body and their race car owners. Additionally, accidents in auto racing are a dime a dozen. These are everyday normal working conditions. Not IF...but WHEN.

You cannot compare it to AR. Which are individual teams following their own instincts and desires. They only have to answer to themselves. And accidents of the truck roll nature, during AR filming, are rare.

It's a lousy analogy. Obviously, I am not a TWSNBN apologist.

Awe, come on! It was funny. Well, I thought it was funny (hence , the ;) ). Oh well.

For the Amazing Race Family edition, it doesn't have to be immediate family like parent/child. And the rules didn't say one had to be a child (unless they changed since I read them). I have 4 sisters and tried to get three of them to go in on it with me thinking we would be an interest cast of characters - 4 sisters that all look alike! Can't believe they wouldn't go for it!!! Anyway, just a thought. Rupert could be taking another family member - like an in-law or sibling or something. I don't know anything about the rumors but that is a possibility.

WOW........I finally was able to finish scrolling the 30'ish pages of the same exact threads on how everyone thinks Rob/Amber are terrible people for not stopping/slowing down..........ENOUGH ALREADY we get the point!

Gretchen and Meredith would have had a much harder time with the Market Detour because they had so little money! They will have money again after this Pit Stop but not near the amount the others have accumulated.

I wonder how much money the teams do accumutale by the end of the show. They should show us how much they are taking away from them, just for interest sake.

Gretchen and Meredith DID have to gather the things in the market to take to the orphanage ~ this task was the roadblock that everyone had to do. What the other poster was talking about was the detour ~ the choice between the caves and the village where they had to choose the right item and deliver it to the correct village. G/M chose to do the caves, and the other task appeared to be much easier.

I don't recall anybody saying how surprised they were (as I was very surprised) that Ron/Kelly didn't receive a prize for coming in 1st place this leg?? I don't remember there ever being a time when the 1st place team didn't get anything?? What better team to get stiffed ~ I don't care for them!!!

I LOVE the brothers........they crack me up! They have a great sense of humor, and are having a great time running this race!

I absolutely LOVED that they had to buy things and deliver them to the orphanage! I would have liked to see more interaction with the teams and the children......but what a GREAT thing for them to do!!! Kudos to AR for coming up with this one!

Bring on tonight's episode.........I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!!

I think when the boyfriends won their leg, they didn't get a prize either.

I can't wait for tonight!! GO ROB & AMBER and THE BROTHERS!

I was just going to say that, too. Lynn and Alex didn't get anything for coming in first a few legs ago. . I have to say there are some interesting changes to this race. First they take everything away (not just the money) from the last place team in a non-elimination leg. This one blows me away. Then they stop the first place prizes.
As to taking away all of Gretchen and Meredith's things-am I understanding that they aren't getting it back until the end of the race?? Or will they have their packs for the next leg?? At least with the money, the team did get money for their next leg. This seems unusually harsh to me.

Meredith asked Phil directly if they would get back their backpacks at the next leg of the race and I'm pretty sure that he said no.

I dont remember him answering the question. He just kinda looked at them and didnt say anything one way or the other.

I distinctly heard him respond in a negative fashion. Not sure on the words, but Gretchen and Meredith will be empty-handed for the rest of the race.

Yeah, my favorite show is on tonight... :cool1:

Rewatched the video Phil said you will need to find whatever resources you can to get you to the finish line and hopefully win.

So since the finish line is the end of the race, I take that to mean no return of the backpacks.

I don't know how I feel about the new penalty of taking EVERYTHING away. How can they possibly compete when they get to the colder regions? It will pretty much be impossible. I understand they want to give them some sort of penalty, but making it impossible for them to win isn't right either. I agree with the other poster about giving them a time penalty. I think that may be more fair.

How many more non-elimination rounds are there? Seems like there's gonna be more than one team left "nekkid in the cold". Should be interesting.

I TOTALLY agree with you on these points. I thought I was the only one that didn't like Ron and Kelly. I can't wait for her to tell him off tonight. :teeth:

Go Romber!! Go Brothers!! :cheer2:

Wonder how much she could get for them :rolleyes1 .

I'm imagining a tampon black market somewhere. :rotfl:

I really hope that Ron has a few more words for Kelly then what the clip airs because if he got called redneck trash for that - she needs help!

He's been a "tushy" since the second episode at least. Heck, last episode--in a joking, but didn't come across as a joke, way--when they said stay absolutely still if a lion tries to climb in the vehicle that he would just take her and feed her to the lions.

We haven't seen enough of their dynamic to know if she deserved that comment--but we at least know she isn't the only one dishing it out since they do have the evidence of him dishing as well.

Personally when he made his comment to which she responded with the Redneck comment--I was cheering for her. I'll have to see it in context to see if my opinion will stay the same.
