I bet I am the only one here who likes Rob & Amber. It makes for exciting tv and Rob is fun to watch. Yes, he is a jerk but he does play the game.

I don't think they should win the million bucks though. I like the black couple (I forgot thier names).
This is a good season so far.

My 2 cents is that Rob is past the point of playing the game now. He is just simply and totally RUDE AND DOWN RIGHT MEAN - I think it is in his blood and he doesn't know any better. Has no compassion, sympathy or heart.

Even the producers are seeing it now after him not stopping after he passed the wrecked jeep. Didn't anyone pick up on the remark that was made at the pit stop?????

I haven't read all of the pages in this thread, but has anyone herad the rumor of Rupert and family possibly running in the next race?

will Rupert Boneham and his family be cast members on The Amazing Race 8?
First Alison (and Donny), then Rob and Amber. And now, perhaps, Rupert Boneham and his family. Yes, the real-life ogre may be an upcoming cast member of The Amazing Race 8, which will be a special family edition. Citing no sources, the Toronto Sun reports, "Don't be surprised if Survivor favorite Rupert Boneham, along with his wife, daughter and foster child, aren't part of the next race." Although Canadians are intelligent (the paper also reports that The Amazing Race 7 is more popular in Canada than American Idol 4), you know they just love to mess with us, so until we hear further confirmation, we'll just pretend this is a rumor or a horrible, awful joke.

I do not know how true this can be, 1st if all, the minimum age for the kids I believe was 8 or 9. Ruperts daughter is younger than that. She looked to be about 5 or 6 last year. I am going to go with it being a rumor.

ITA I think there comes a point where you are no longer 'playing a game' and it is just really your true character (or lack thereof) that people are seeing.

YEP, it is a reality game for TV and the producers edit it extensively for TV but it is still a fact that Rob did not even roll his window down to ask if everyone was okay - after seeing the camerman laying on the ground. NOT MADE FOR TV. When all the others either asked or stopped.

That is why the remarks were made at the pit stop. I think we will see some strong effects from that --- from this point on.....

Will Smith making movies is not a parallel to this reality show to any degree.

I was flipping around the channels yesterday & came acrosss a NASCAR race on TV. There was an accident and I was schocked when NO ONE stopped, or even bothered to slow down & make sure the driver of the car was OK. I mean, I know it's a race, but even the driver's teammates didn't stop. Oh well, I guess they are just all evil people who only care about winning a race.

Yeah right, nothing is going to come to of this. I'm sure Rob and Amber are going to continue to thrive and run the race/game well. What is going to happen, the teams are going to continue to be rude to them? Whoa, big change from the last couple of weeks.

And what is the difference between Will Smith earning 20 mil over and over and Amber and Rob earning another 1 mil (which is basically less than 600,000 after taxes).

BTW, love the Nascar race analogy. That's also real life and a race, but apparently it is okay not to stop.

Yeah, I went online and checked the rules for doing the amazing race family one and your youngest has to be at least 8.

We've got 4 and 6 year olds so we were out, at least for a few years!

The kids love to watch the race with me, and my husband's always pushing us to travel, so I was like, ok, here's a way to see it all!

I'm really interested in seeing argentina now...

This thread is huge, if I don't read it for a few days I miss so much stuff!

Rob & Amber- I thought it would've been nice if they at least rolled down the window and yelled "are you all right" or something but they didn't. Personally I wouldn't have been able to just drive by but that's me. I still like them though.

I also think The Boyfriends look at us we did the right thing, we're the better people bit was way over the top and ridiculous. While stopping was a nice gesture they turned it into an ugly thing with all the gloating and finger pointing that occurred afterwards.

Yeah, I went online and checked the rules for doing the amazing race family one and your youngest has to be at least 8.

They changed it from 12 to 8. We weren't going to sign up this year because DD turns 12 in June, but we found out by accident that they had lowered the age...so we scurried and got our application in. I read an article that said Phil was surprised that they had lowered the age...and I've wondered if maybe they did it so that Rupert's DD could participate. PURE speculation there.

In any case, we haven't heard anything yet...

I have a hard time comparing Nascar racing to the Amazing Race. If a Nascar driver stopped and got out of his car to see if another driver was ok, he'd most likely be killed. Bottom line, I don't think Romber had to stop. They saw things were being handled. Commom courtesy would have been to just ask, that's all. It wouldn't have slowed them down by much. No biggie.
As far as them winning the million, I say have a ball. If they win, then they're entitled to the money. What they already have has nothing to do with it. Comparing them to movie stars is like comparing apples to oranges.
I don't mind Romber being in the AR. They're fun to watch. They make it interesting. I think it's funny that people all over the world want to jump in and help them. Any one of the racer's (famous or otherwise) would welcome that kind of help. There has to be a couple that everyone loves to hate and they are it. I think more people are watching because they're in it. This is a good thing. It will keep the show going.
My favorites are the brothers , with Joyce and Uchenna second. No matter who wins, I love the show!

I think it's funny that people all over the world want to jump in and help them. Any one of the racer's (famous or otherwise) would welcome that kind of help.

I agree with your post, but just wanted to mention that other racers ARE getting help from locals (and from what I understand, racers on past seasons have also). Just this past episode, Kelly had help from a man in the market, Ray and Deana had help from flight attendants (upgrading them to 1st class), and many contestants are able to get locals to give them directions or even let the racers follow them to their destination (they may not have them IN the car with them, but it's still the same thing).

The locals may not know the names of the other racers and haven't seen them on TV, but they get help too.

Do Rob & Amber get more help than the other teams? It does look that way, but it also seems to me that if the other teams ASKED for help, they'd probably get it.

Ridiculous. The only parallels are: they are a race and it is not staged. NASCAR teams have direction as to what to do during an accident. They following the regulations of the NASCAR Sanctioning Body and their race car owners. Additionally, accidents in auto racing are a dime a dozen. These are everyday normal working conditions. Not IF...but WHEN.

You cannot compare it to AR. Which are individual teams following their own instincts and desires. They only have to answer to themselves. And accidents of the truck roll nature, during AR filming, are rare.

It boils down to same thing everytime, we defend what we want and attack what we don't. Romber fans are a-ok with running the race hard, and anti-Rombers are protesting.

ITA. In addition, NASCAR drivers must slow down or stop in the case of an accident.

The Red flag means all competition must stop. This includes drivers on the track and also includes pit crews. If a car is being worked on in the garage area then they too must also stop work when the red flag is displayed.

You will see the red flag usually when there is a rain delay or when the track is blocked due to emergency vehicles or a bad accident.
