The Amazing Race 7...official Thread

I’m always late reading this thread, but I love to see everyone’s thoughts. Here’s my 2 cents:

Rob & Amber—I have very mixed feelings about them. I think that Rob is pretty amusing and I like the way he thinks through things when running the race. On this particular episode my opinion of them dropped a good bit though. I agree with the others that thought he should’ve rolled down the window to check on the brothers. It did seem that the situation was being handled, so I don’t think they needed to stop, just that they should’ve at least rolled the window down and asked if everyone was OK. Also, I think Rob intended for the comment about Meredith shoving Gretchen for sympathy to be funny, but it just came off very rude. I like watching them run the race, but I hope they are a little bit kinder in future episodes (not that they need to quit playing a smart race).

Meredith & Gretchen—they are actually growing on me. Sometimes they can get on my nerves, but I like how spunky Gretchen was after she was injured. I’ve got to give them credit for not being quitters. I don’t think they have what it takes to win, but I like watching them race. I think it will be interesting to see how having no stuff at all impacts them in upcoming episodes.

Ray & Deana—good riddance! As others said, his behavior is just despicable. I did like the fact that Gretchen and Meredith beat R/D after Ray had said such hateful things about G/M. Ha!

Alex & Lynn—I think they are sometimes funny and sometimes downright obnoxious. Although they still sometimes make me laugh, I am ready for them to go. I was proud of them for stopping to help the brothers though.

Uchenna & Joyce—I just can’t seem to feel a connection with them. I think I like Uchenna a bit more than Joyce for some reason, but I can’t really put my finger on it. After their comments about time at the orphanage, I wonder if they really spent more time there than we got to see. I did think it was nice of them to give Meredith and Gretchen clothes.

Ron & Kelly—I guess I haven’t noticed why some people think Ron is so rude. I haven’t seem him do anything that really crosses a major line yet (or maybe I’ve just forgotten about it). I just don’t think he is very in love with Kelly, but I don’t blame him for that. I do wonder what he does that makes Kelly call him a “redneck piece of trash” in next week’s episode. I wonder if that will change my opinion of him or of her. She seems a little prone to overreacting, so maybe she is the rude one not him. I guess I’ll just have to wait until next week to find out.

Brian & Greg—they are my favorite team. I love their attitudes—very easy-going while still competitive. I also felt so sorry for them when they wrecked. It was obvious how horrible they felt for the cameraman. I also noticed that they said a prayer for him and found that to be very touching (I agree with the poster who said how nice it was to see that on TV these days). So far I am rooting for them to win.
ITA ::yes::

I rewatched AR last night (DH missed it the first time) & I have to say that I LOVE the brothers. I hope they & Rob/Amber finish 1-2. We were laughing so hard at the brothers: First, when they came out of the cave, the one said "you look like Bravheart, Dude".. BWHAHAHA! He sounded a little like Napoleon Dynamite. LOL. Then, when they called the bushman Yoda, I was cracking up. I also loved when the one brother read the first clue when they were leaving the pitstop & he said "you are to go see your mom & give her a big hug & eat all her chicken enchiladas". They crack each other up & I love it.

Wow ! Some of you people REALLY need to get a grip. The hatred towards two people you don't even know, save through two heavily edited psuedo-"reality" shows is pretty pathetic, in my opinion. That said:

Rob and Amber - If you're playing a game of Monopoly with someone, do you cut them a break if they can't pay the rent on Park Place ? Repeat these three words, people: IT'S A GAME !!!!! There is a penalty for coming in last, and to think someone should help their opponent avoid that penalty is just ludicrous. As for "not stopping" at the accident, maybe they DID slow down and see what was going on. Watching the show, with all the cuts, how would you know ? I'm sure NO reality show would ever make cuts like that to make a competitor look like more of a "villain", right ?

Lynn and Alex - Was I the only one that thought their comments were just a teensy bit racist ? These two strike me as completely fake, and frankly, they're my least favorite of the remaining teams because of that. I used to think they were funny, like a lot of other people do. I got over it.

Brothers - Was REALLY glad they didn't get eliminated. Probably my favorite of the teams other than Rob and Ambuh. Cracked up when the one brother was talking about claustrophobia and the other said something about stuffing him into the bottom of a sleeping bag when they were kids.

Joyce and Uwchenna - What was the big deal with the orphanage ? They made a big deal out of it, but it didn't appear that they were there longer than a minute or two. No interaction with the kids, just in, grab the clue, and out. Just came off as a bit disingenuous, but again, it may just have been the editing.

Gretchen and Meredith - I don't care much for them, but you gotta admire Granny's guts for continuing on with the injury.

Ron and Kelly - Sorry, but they lost me on the "redneck trash" comment from next week's preview. Wouldn't mind seeing him win it, but I'd love to see him tell the "beauty queen" just where to stuff her tiara after that comment.

Seriously, people...accusing Amber of not having a thought in her head and repeatedly calling Rob a jerk (and worse) when he's done NOTHING but play the game is ridiculous.

I completely agree with everything you said. I'm glad you said it so I didn't have to type it all out. ;)

::yes:: Gotta love the brothers!

I'm sad. I missed the last episode. Wasn't it 2 hours long? I was in Vegas during it. What a time for a cool episode to be on. :rolleyes2

Have been away for 10 days and missed a lot. Haven't read all posts yet, BUT - I SURELY DO HOPE THAT ROB & AMBER get lost and are eliminated SOON - SOON - I WILL CELEBRATE.

Sorry for you Rob & Amber fans. Just my 2 cents............ :cheer2:

I'm trying to watch the video on the CBS site and I can never get it to work! :confused3 Today's problem is some kind of "dll" error. Is anyone else having this problem? Just trying to figure out if it is me and my computer or if it's a website problem.

ITA! They really get on my nerves. I think they are doing so well because people all over the world know who they are and are more willing to help. What other team on any other episode on any other season would have ever been succesful having a plane held for them? Not to say that it's Rob & Amber's fault, but they just seem so smug and snotty about everything. Yes, it is a game, but there is no reason to become a jerk to win. I also think Amber rides on his coattails way too much just like she did on Survivor. She couldn't even do the shopping challenge without getting help. They just bug me- let someone else have $1 million.

I'm sure he is ... as long as you don't cut in front of him in the buffet line!

I vaguely remember that episode of Fear Factor. Very interesting!

Glad to see Ray & Deanna go... :wave2:

Gotta root for the brothers here also...

I remember that episode of Fear Factor! I remember thinking that the guy was being stupid and obnoxious. LOL

I haven't read all of the pages in this thread, but has anyone herad the rumor of Rupert and family possibly running in the next race?

will Rupert Boneham and his family be cast members on The Amazing Race 8?
First Alison (and Donny), then Rob and Amber. And now, perhaps, Rupert Boneham and his family. Yes, the real-life ogre may be an upcoming cast member of The Amazing Race 8, which will be a special family edition. Citing no sources, the Toronto Sun reports, "Don't be surprised if Survivor favorite Rupert Boneham, along with his wife, daughter and foster child, aren't part of the next race." Although Canadians are intelligent (the paper also reports that The Amazing Race 7 is more popular in Canada than American Idol 4), you know they just love to mess with us, so until we hear further confirmation, we'll just pretend this is a rumor or a horrible, awful joke.

I bet I am the only one here who likes Rob & Amber. It makes for exciting tv and Rob is fun to watch. Yes, he is a jerk but he does play the game.

I don't think they should win the million bucks though. I like the black couple (I forgot thier names).

This is a good season so far.

You're not alone, most people here like R&A. Not me though....

As much as I like Rupert, I would be disappointed to see him on AR. I'm very much against them putting pseudo-celebrities on this show. And Rupert is probably more well-known than R&A.
