The Amazing Race 7...official Thread

Anyone remember Allison and Donny from a few seasons ago...She had been a finalist on Big Brother...They were eliminated by episode 2 or 3.

I am sure the people at CBS were hoping for them to last longuer but they did not. CBS was touting her in the promos for the show. That is why I don't beleive that CBS is helping Romber.

CBS knows the whole outcome before they promote the show. I think if Romber would have not made it far, they would not be the focus of a lot of promos (like TV guide cover, commercials etc...)

I don't like the comments that they must be getting help. They SURVIVED on survivor...It takes brains to win that game...Not just luck.

I was not a fan of ROMBER on SURVIVOR but I have respect for them because they played the game every minute of everyday.

Rob has surprised me quite a few times on this show. His being able to communicate so well with locals, creative ways to get the job done (bus driver not to open the back doors) and he is always thinking.

I also like what I see between him and Amber...They really are supportive of one another and respect each other. I have yet to hear them get upset once. They remind me of the couple from last year Kris and Jon...They were so nice and supportive. I was won over by them as I am now won over by ROMBER...

I love this show and now my DH is hooked. Rob is good TV... :goodvibes

Just my 2 cents worth.

This is my first AR and I have a question. Do the teams get money for participating? If they do does the amount increase for the farther they get in the race?

I am loving this show. I can't believe I never saw it before. I admit I tuned in because of Rob & Amber. I hope they go far. Very entertaining.

Thank GOD too...I couldn't stand her on BB in the first place. She was the most annoying person...I'll never forget her pulling those dogs around YELLING "DONNY! DONNY! FORGET IT! YOU'RE WRONG!"

cracks me up

Can anyone else smell an Amazing Race All-Stars coming? ( I have to sit down, I am dizzy at the thought of so much entertainment.)

Glad the brothers did so well and still rooting for Uchenna and Joyce.... thought she got a really bad deal with such a spirited horse...kinda dangerous if you ask me.
I wouldn't say the horse was spirited as much as not "dead broke". In many ways they are professional athletes used to being ridden in a certain way. Joyce was throwing her weight all around and sawing on the reins. The horse was probably confused and scared. I'm just glad she didn't get hurt.

I liked Patrick and his mom at first but as each week went by, I liked them less and less. I'm glad they are gone. And in the closing remarks, I believe that they are the first team not to be complimentory to each other. I don't remember any other team not saying good things about each other when it was all over.

ITA with the whole horse thing. She kept pulling back way too hard on those reins and a horse is just going to pull back along with you. They were in a well sanded ring and as much as I hate horses (the rest of my family loves them) it was not a very dangerous task.

I have to agree with Photobear Sam. Rob and Amber have won me over as well. They are enjoying themselves, friendly with the locals-my DH even said something about that last night, and aren't worried about other teams- but are using their heads and getting the job done.

I really didn't like either of them on the Survivor's they were on, but I'm rooting for them here.

Now, if I had my choice for an "All-Stars AR", I'd have to include the clowns and Team Cha Cha Cha.

Oh, I so agree with you on so many of your comments.

Didn't like Rob on Survivor, one iota. Love him and Amber on this show. They work together and are not nasty or condescending to one another, are polite to all the people they come in contact with, use their heads, seem well versed in many things and, let's face it, are playing the game using the knowledge they have. I think many people had a pre-conceived notion about Rob being this dumb guy merely due to the way he comes off. This show is showing there is more to him than meets the eye.

What is bugging the you know what out of me, is the two boyfriends. It seems that their main goal at this point is no longer winning the race, but beating Amber & Rob. They are so angry at them for being who they are, that I believe they are forgetting that they are in this to win $1,000,000. Stupid if you ask me.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I'm not caring for Uchena & what's her name. Can't put my finger on why, but I just don't.

Am glad the mother and son are gone. Did anyone catch the comment Deanna's "he" (can't recall his name) made when they were on the plane. "I'm certainly not going to lose to the old people and the team where they each weigh about 20 lbs." (or something to that effect). I really hope the "old" people outlast him (since it's now not possible for the mother and son any more). Perhaps the old people will be quoted as saying "We don't want to lose to the one who cries while riding a horse and the guy with no brain." :rotfl:

I'll close with a big "GO ROMBER"! :cool1:

Actually...I think you mean "detour"...yes, they can switch detours if they can't get one to work fast enough for them...but "roadblocks" are done by one person (aka - the horse roadblock last night) and you can't switch off during it.

You are right. As I was typing I couldn't remember if it was a roadblock or a detour. oops

Go Joyce and Uchena!

The show's editing really cracks me up. Can the boyfriends really be carrying on that much about Rob and Amber?!! And the way they cut to all four couples beaming that Rob and Amber weren't on the plane yet. It's hilarious!

I thought Rob and Amber handled being lost very well (when they were trying to find the horse place). So many other couples would have been yelling at each other, blaming the navigator, etc. Rob calmly said, "I hate being lost" and they figured it out without losing their cool.

I also thought it was sweet that Rob gave the boat driver a Red Sox cap. He didn't bribe him...the boat driver didn't do anything extraordinarily special for them...it was just a nice gesture.

Good riddance to the mom and son. I hope Ray and Deanna are next...his condescending comments about the other teams is intolerable!

Amy :)

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: "Luck has always been on my side. It's like I was born with a horseshoe...right up my a**" :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
OMG, I almost peed myself when he said that.

I think I'm watching the same show as everyone else and I haven't seen them get any special treatment. Yes, Phil seems to have a different reaction to them at pit stops, but it just seems like it's because they crack him up. Make no mistake, Rob is SMART and he knows how to manipulate things (within the rules) to get the results he wants. This is a race, they are there to win, not to make friends.
I also like how well he and Amber work together. If Ray and Deanna or god forbid last season's Jonathan & Victoria had gotten lost, the guys would have been screaming at the girls for not reading the map right. R&A seem to just go with the flow.
I'm starting to like Uchenna & Joyce a little better and I LOVE the brothers. Don't really care for any of the other teams though.

As always, Go Rob & Amber :cheer2: :cheer2:

Here were the start off times for each team:

3:49 am - Lynn & Alex

4:07 am - Uchenna & Joyce
(they must have gotten really lost last week since U finished eating first)

4:52 am - Greg & Brian

4:52 am - Ron & Kelly

6:59 am - Rob & Amber

8:34 am - Deana & Ray

8:44 am - Meredith & Gretchen

8:56 am - Patrick & Susan

There wasn't much of a gap between the last three teams. It seemed from last weeks editing that Patrick and Susan came in a lot later than Deana & Ray and Meredith & Gretchen.

This week I thought it was brillant that Rob & Amber made that plane when everyone was so happy that they weren't there to start with. I got the impression that they made it to the airport before the plane left and the airline delayed the plane long enough to get them on.

I'm still curious as to what they will do about Uchenna & Joyce and going to the island instead of the shipwreck. Maybe there won't be any type of penalty, but the only reason I wonder is because it looked like the teams had to either pick taking a map with them or taking the picture of the shipwreck. (Maybe they did get to take both and it just wasn't shown). I would think that if you got frustrated looking for one, you would have to head back to the start get the new "directions" and start again.

I guess we'll find out next week. Two Hours! :goodvibes

My DS11 loves to watch with me... but when they showed the preview of Gretchen with the bloody face he got VERY upset.....

It wil be hard for him to watch next week.........

I thought last night's show was great. The look on their faces when Romber got on the plane was priceless.

I too am fed up with the boyfriends' obsession with Romber. Get over it. They will have no one to blame but themselves if they lose this race, because their heads are not where they should be. I don't think I have ever seen a season where people were so preoccupied about another team. We even have Ray obsessed with beating the "old people" and how that was never going to happen. What's up with that? :confused3

Does anyone know why next week is two hours? Not that I'm complaining. I was just curious if it was maybe a re-run/clip type of show.

Thanks Danielle for posting the times. I always try to remember each one's time to see how far apart they are, but by the time they get to the fourth team, I've already forgotten when the first place team left :earboy2: Your post lets me see how much advantage each team actually had.

I'm also glad that the mom and son are gone - but I'm floored that the people who think the son is so disrespectful don't have the same comment about the mother. I was horrified by her behavior towards her son. I was not in the least bit surprised by his behavior - he was taught by her. It seemed to me he was just trying to defend himself and I felt bad for him that his mother was treating him that way. During the challenges instead of being supportive and saying "you can do it" she was basically saying " I could do that better, you're an idiot". When the men say those things to their partners we get mad, but it's okay for a mom to say them to her son?

I noticed that too! I am sure CBS doesn't want Rob & Amber to go yet because they know they have viewers watching just because of them. Why, I have no idea! :confused3

But, when this show was filmed the producers had no idea if people would be watching Rob and Amber or not. They have thousands of hours of footage to watch and edit together to make an entertaining show. I don't know what kind of rules "reality" shows have compared to "game" shows but on those the producers are not allowed to assist the contestants in any way.

I like Romber, I don't really want them to win but they sure are fun to watch. I'm really tired of hearing so many other teams try to "beat" Romber. They should just be running their own game or they will be eliminated sooner rather than later. It's hard to make good decisions when you're looking over your shoulder and trying to figure out what another team might be doing.

The previews for next week look awesome. I can't wait to see what happens!!

I was wondering that myself. Last season, they had a "to be continued" episode. I think thay may have gotten alot of e-mails from frustrated viewers. After all, we tune in every week to see the order of the pit stop. So maybe they had a "to be continued" cliff hanger for this season planned, but based on the publics reaction, decided to make it a 2 hour show.

OR....the previews showed Gretchen getting hurt (badly it seems) and a vehicle crash. So maybe with those two events, the editing would not allow for everything to be shown in one hour.

I am so glad the mother/son team are gone. I thought it said a lot about them when they were talking so rudely about the street performer. Especially right after Gretchen & Meredith were watching another one & commenting so nicely about him.

I'm glad someone else picked up on this. I thought that was a nice bit of editing showing how two different couples reacted to the same thing. Once appreciated it while the other just saw only the negative.

Patrick said at the pit stop that maybe he ought to stop taking things so seriously. You think?
