The Amazing Race 7...official Thread

Another Romber fan here. I just wanted to add a thought...if they hadn't been on Survivor and were just another team that had applied and made it on the show, would those who dislike them feel differently? I don't understand how anyone can argue that they aren't totally playing the game and taking it to a new level. Plus, Rob cracks me up every week!

I was thinking the same thing, I wonder if most of the hatred is because of Survivor. I like Rob and Amber and think they are playing the game well, and don't yell at each other like other teams. Lynn and Alex have got to get over them, I don't think they'll last to much longer in the game.

I'm also glad that the mom and son are gone - but I'm floored that the people who think the son is so disrespectful don't have the same comment about the mother. I was horrified by her behavior towards her son. I was not in the least bit surprised by his behavior - he was taught by her. It seemed to me he was just trying to defend himself and I felt bad for him that his mother was treating him that way. During the challenges instead of being supportive and saying "you can do it" she was basically saying " I could do that better, you're an idiot". When the men say those things to their partners we get mad, but it's okay for a mom to say them to her son?

I thought the same thing. Respect is a 2 way street - it's obvious that Mom didn't travel down that street on a very frequent basis.....

On CBS official AR website, there are many videos you can view. Of course this week don't Alex and Lynn go on about how they hate Rob and Amber. Alot of the videos this week are Alex and Lynn. They get as much airtime on AR complaining about Romber as Rob and Amber have actual airtime.

As I said before get over it.

Ok just have to say that my grandmother phrased it slightly different ~~ now that I see it in writing LOL.

TJ

I'm curious, how did she say it? I'm from the south and we have our strange sayings too but that just completely cracked me up. I also giggle every time I hear him yell "holy canoli". :rotfl:

For everyone who is upset that their notoriety got them on the show, I wonder how you think the P.O.W. got on.
I have been upset for awhile now about AR having psuedo-celebrities on. They've had too-numerous-to-count "models", "actor", beauty queens. Even Chip, the winner from AR5 played Muhammad Ali in a movie several years ago. Oh and that one chick from Big Brother lost on the first leg, so wasn't able to "boost" the ratings. That's why R&A are being helped along this time, to make sure they get the ratings.

No, I don't at all. They actually said the time they arrived at the airport was 9:25. Planes are quite often a little bit late taking off and it was a local flight, not international.
I could swear it was the team before Rob and Amber that arrived at the ticket counter at 925, because I remember thinking that Rob and Amber would never make it in time.

And I gotta say... I was giggling like a school girl when they came in first AND won something.... Poor Lynn and Alex... they will both hold on to that fact and be bitter about it for a long time. I also think it is int he editing on how much they talk about R&A. At least I hope it is...

Love Rob... Love Amber... Rob was a bit full of himself last night... but I think he is playing it up for the cameras and since they are tired... he isnt as witty as he normally is.

Interesting spoiler theroy posted above.... very interesting. AND with last nights loss by mom and son... the theroy is holding true.

You know, when Rob asked Amber what time it was and she said 9:00, she could have been rounding off. It could have been 8:56 and then who knows what time the airport keeps. Haven't we all called Disney Dining starting at 6:56 and got thru a few minutes before 7:00 even though they say they open at 7:00? Maybe the airport was a few minutes behind. That could have given Romber maybe 10 extra minutes. Just a possibility.

You've got to watch the editing. They show all the other teams arriving at the airport,( when the brothers' are at the ticket counter they say it is 9:25 and there is "no way" anybody else is going to make the plane), then cut to R&A still in the car. They show the four other teams walking out to the airplane together, then Romber pulling in to the parking lot ( I'm pretty sure one of them said the time was 9:25 when they pulled in). They make it look like everybody else is there and on the plane by the time R&A get to the airport, but in reality, they were just a couple of minutes behind the brothers. ( If if was 9:25 when the brothers were getting their tickets AND when R&A were running through the parking lot). We make the ASSUMPTION that some teams are way behind, when in reality it's only a few minutes. They did the same thing with Susan & Patrick getting on the train after R&D, & M&G, looked like they were WAAAY behind. When the trains pulled in to the station, they showed the arrival times, and the first train was only 3 MINUTES ahead of the second.

Very well stated! That's why I wonder if Lynn and Alex are really obsessing about Rob and Amber that much, but they just may be! :teeth:

Amy :)

Even if it is editing, Lynn and Alex still have to actually say the things about Rob and Amber, they can't just digitally add it in. So, even though they might be editing out a lot of other stuff that they are saying, the fact is they still talk about Rob an Amber an awful lot!

I agree about the POW and his notoriety probably helped him get on the race. Problem is, he has proven to be a dud so far, which is why he hasn't received much screen time. They always try to cast people who will have sparks or be interesting, but it has backfired a few times like the POW. This happened quiete a few times on survivor, and I am sure it happens on this show. They expect the teams to interact a certain way, and sometimes they get more than they bargained for (Jonathon and Victoria) and other times they don't (Ron and Kelly).

Finally, the Amazing Race was on the verge of cancellation quite a few times. It used to air only in the summer and its future would always be up in the air. Then, it would win an Emmy in the fall, and all of a sudden be picked up for the next summer. This happened the last couple years until this past fall when they finally put it on during the fall season and it did pretty well. Now it is doing much better, but still not a top 25 show most weeks.

The thing about Alex and Lynn is, they could be a very funny and very fun team to watch, but their Romber fixation makes them come off as bitter and spiteful (insert word A&L have used frequently but would not pass the filter). It's like they aren't trying to win the race, they're just trying to beat Rob and Amber. If they don't get over that and concentrate on the race, they may beat Rob and Amber, but may get passed by the other teams.

You really think they are getting help from the producers of the show? CBS would get in soooooooo much trouble if there was ever any proof of something like that going on! I just can't believe they'd risk a HUGE scandal. Of course, I'm a Rob & Amber fan and I guess I'm just not that conspiracy-minded.

DH & I rewatched AR last night as he missed it Tuesday & he commented on how friendly Rob is to all the locals. My favorite part was when they were on the boat & he said one guy thinks we should go back & the other wants to keep going...."I'm with Carlos, let's keep going!". BWHAHAHAHA!!! I wonder how many teams took the time to ask the names of the guys opertating their boat?

Also, when Rob got on the plane & asked Ron how his stomach was feeling, DH & I were ROTFL. Come on, it was funny! He didn't get on their & say "All you guys are idiots for eating that crap, we made it without it HA HA HA". He was just ribbing him, lighten up!!! Who knows, maybe they get along really well & he was just giving him a hard time like I would a friend of mine. They made it look like everyone was wanting Rob & Amber to lose (in the promos they said "all the other teams declar war on Rob & Amber-or something like that), yet the only team that said anything directly about R&A was the Boyfriends.

::yes:: I agree, he seems to be so friendly and they look like they're having so much fun! Most teams are running around all stressed out and don't seem to be enjoying themselves at all. Maybe it's because they've already won alot of money but it's still a joy to watch.

I agree I think they are just having a great time and are relaxed and enjoying the whole expeirence. I did not watch them on S but I am now beginning to like them on AR.

I love AR watched it since the very first show. Not a fan of the other reality shows.

Glad to see Susan and Patrick gone.

Next gone I hope is Ray/Deana he is just a jerk! or Lynn/Alex really getting tired of their obcession with Romber

I think Rob is just jammy he picks something and things just work out for him or so the editing makes it seem.

Nope! I would still feel the same way. I never watched Survivor so that has nothing to do with it for me. I can not stand the guy, he is arrogant & that is my biggest turn off. I can not stand people that are arrogant.
He thinks he is so cute/funny/smart the way he smiles on the camera, I think he is a big time jerk!

He was juggling at a road intersection.

The older couple commented and how wonderful it was what people in the country do to get ahead and all Patrick could do was complain that the juggler was in their way.

HAHA - when Gretchen said that the juggler was probably working for his college fund - I laughed! He was really probably juggling to get food to live on!

I'll say it again - I have never watched Survivor, but I think that Romber is a great addition to the show - I love the way Rob talks to the camera. Yeah - he's full of himself, but it makes for great TV!

Add me to the list of reluctant Rob and Amber fans. I hated Rob on his first Survivor stint, and had a begrudging respect for him during the All-Stars but when I heard he and Amber were going to be on Amazing Race I really thought it was overkill.

I have to admit though that they are really starting to grow on me. I used to think that Rob was just arrogant and Amber was boring and someone who rode on coat tails, but I really like their interaction with one another and with the locals during the race. I am actually finding them pretty endearing, which I never thought would happen.

Guess I should have said "hi" to Rob after all when I saw him at the ice cream store in Canton, MA a few summers ago! :)

Yes, it seems he can be a very nice & personable as long as you are not competing against him in a reality show! LOL!

I also thought the relationship between him and Amber would be over faster than you could say "the Godfather" after the All Stars. But they seem to really know each other, and the RESPECT each other. That is what I love about them as a couple. Neither one of them has an "I am better than you" attitude towards each other. And giving where they both came from, they could both very easily have egos like that.
