The Amazing Race 7...official Thread

After watching the tape I finally came to post. I thought this was a great start!! Rob & Amber were actually funny. I hope they don't win but I would enjoy watching them for the majority of the race.

I like the brothers best, so far. It's too early for me to keep all the names straight so in another episode, or two, I can pick my top three. I like Ron (the POW) but I'm not sure about his girlfriend yet.

The best thing about this season so far...

No Jonathon or Colin "personalities" :teeth:

PS...I really felt bad for the two guys that got eliminated. That was a close one, maybe the closest eliminating pit stop!

Finally watched my recording last night, and I'm hooked on this season. I like a lot of the pairs, best pairs for several seasons I think. My thoughts:

Blonds: I can't keep these two teams straight, but I'm not impressed with either pair so that's okay. Heh. And already with the "I really am angry with you for doing the llama task" complaints? Um, is it really that hard to figure out that one person pulls and the other flicks their tail with the rope or grass or something? The older couple sure figured that out fast. :)

Romber: I have a love/hate relationship with them from Survivor. I couldn't stand Rob in the first Survivor he was in, he grew on me in the second (I mean come on, those going against him were really that *stupid* to fall for his tricks *again?*), and I think they make a cute couple. But with AR, I thought they were great. I was actually impressed that they were both laughing about his inability to figure out how to open the trunk. A lot of couples would have lost it right there, but they were both still in good spirits and laughing about it. And, I think it was cool of him to help push that van (even if he did only do it to get out of the traffic jam) so they could move on. I actually think he's smarter than a lot of people give him credit for, though he's stealing the show again and Amber's just kinda there. Anyway, I'm glad they're in the top 3 and hope they go far. #2 wouldn't be bad at all. :)

Older couple: I usually like the older teams, but other than how well they handled the llamas, I wasn't impressed with them and actually felt she did the most whining this show of anyone. I was hoping they'd be the team eliminated last night.

Brothers: I love these two. I was kinda neutral on them until they came to the 7:00 pile and did the double-take. That was priceless. :rotfl2: And I like that they let one of the blond pairs in, even if they did just do it because they thought the girls were cute.

Boyfriends: I guess I'm in the minority on them. I can't stand them. I think they're way overdoing the "ham it up for the camera" bit, and maybe it's just editing, but they don't really strike me as being very sharp.

Hillbillies: I was very sorry to see them go. I really enjoyed their comedy and attitude. Loved when they got out and helped run their cart so that they'd get ahead.

POW/Beauty: Not sure what to think of them. He has my respect and I hope he goes far, but can we lose her?

"wanting a baby" couple: They remind me of the black couple who won a couple of seasons ago, and I really liked them. I wonder though if this pair is trying to show some of the same attitude that the prior winners did just because that got them the win and respect of the audience (like really appreciating where they were and respecting the other cultures)

On again / off again couple: Don't like either of them, I'd really like them to go next as well. His attitude of just "Suck it up" was a huge annoyance to me. Hello, can't breathe, kinda in REALLY HIGH altitude. Cut her some slack, come on. I bet if she had passed out, he would have been angry at her instead of supportive. If she's smart, she'll be out of that relationship as soon as they're out of the race.

Mother/Son: No real opinion on them. I'm not too fond of the mom and her temper-tantrum about maybe not coming in before Rob and Amber ("after all that work, and it comes down to a taxi ride" -- um, yeah, hello, have you never watched AR before?), but I don't mind the son.

Looks like it'll be a good season. :)

I didn't like the whole "Romber" thing on Survivor, but I really liked them on the first episode of AR. The producers knew what they were doing too. I know several people who have never seen AR and watched for the first time simply because of Rob and Amber. They all loved the show and wished they could have seen all the past races.

I know I'm totally in the minority on this one, but I didn't think he was that bad. He wasn't yelling at her, he just expressed disappointment. I think I might have done something kind of similar if I got aced out in a crucial spot like that. Maybe I'd regret it later (probably), but I think I would have shown some disappointment. It's pretty stressful out there, and you've gotta expect a little of this out of everybody.

The last two season we had Jonathon and Colin, and if you put either one of them in this guy's situation, you would have seen some fireworks! The new guy isn't even close to those two. Reading his bio, I think he might be as big a jerk as everyone is saying, but I just haven't seen it yet.

IMO, yes, the purposely mislead them. The 1st three teams that got the early flight did check the other piles before digging. Debbie/Bianca were one of those three teams. So they knew full well there was a better pile to dig. My question is, why would they mislead them? There was one more opening for for the early flight, that ONE team was going to get, if it wasn't Ron/Kelly, it would of been someone else. Maybe they knew early on they are a threat in the game?

That's what I didn't quite understand either. It was too early on in the reace for them to already dislike Ron and Kelly. I didn't see any competitive advantage to telling them to look in the wrong pile. Just like you said, somebody was going to be on the flight with them, it was just a matter of who. I have to admit, I don't think that Kelly and Ron were dumb to listen to them, I think I would've done the same thing (since it was so early in the race and no one had built up any animosity yet). As the race goes on, I would become less trusting of the other teams, but at the very beginning I just don't get why the girls were so spiteful.

JMO, but if I were competing against these other teams for a million $$$$$ I would not listen to them when they told me to go to a pile and dig when I could very easily check for myself. It was dumb of every team not to check those times. It's not like choosing between 2 tasks, the piles were just yards away from each other. There was a reason the brothers were baffled when they came upon the scene.

Just finished watching my tape of last week's show and my favorite team is gone!!!!

Can't wait for the second episode tonight!

:cool1:

It is Amazing Race night!!! WOO-HOO! I am so excited. I think I need to get a life. :rotfl:

Rob and Amber were smoking tonight. They finished 1st way ahead of anyone else. They are playing the game really well. Nice to see the POW and girlfriend moving up from last to 2nd.

Working on my WAPASID or whatever that acronym is homework...

They said you are the first to arrive, I look at my watch--still 25 minutes left in the show. They didn't use a FF or anything did they.

WOW!

Looks like they get caught up with next week seeing as they will be "stealing" a taxi. :teeth:

No FF. Rob loaded all the books to only make it in one trip. Everyone else did multiple trips. They are playing the game very smart.

Agreed! Romber kicked some serious booty tonight - they rocked!!

GO Rombu!!!! I thought they were awesome tonight!! I am lovin' these two! They were kickin' booty. It was very smart of them to take the time to stack their books so they only needed one trip. I was also glad to see the POW and BQ move up to 2nd.

Is anyone else SICK of those Burger King commercials though?!??! ICK!

I am definately rooting for Rob and Amber, he's hilarious and is managing to add some deviousness and strategy to the game., glad those two blonde girls got the boot, and gretchen's voice is getting on my last nerve!!

I wonder what the mom/son team spent all their money on?

oh, and the shot of Uchena and Joyce in the opening credits was taken about 1/2 block from my job!! unfortunatly I didn't see them taping it.

Who ever said that Rob was as "dumb as a box of rocks" in the first episode should be eating their words right now. He had a pretty good command on the language and was the only one to be able to get all those books stacked in one trip.

I was glad to see they made a few allies and helped the others jump to the front, like Ron and Kelly.

That was the son of the mother/son combo that said that.

Go Rob & Amber! I also like Ron and Kelly, they improved a lot from last week.

No one else is disgusted that the sleaze is paying people to not help the other teams? That's ridiculous if you ask me. That guy makes my skin crawl and if no one jumps out at me next week to be a team I like, I'm done with this season.
