The Amazing Race 7...official Thread

LOL-No. I didn't get much sleep last night and obviously it's affecting my brain, so bear with me.
I'm not a new fan to the show, so I understand the rules of the game. My question isn't concerning the rules as far as a penalty goes. I know that if they're assessed a 30 minute penalty they would leave 12 hours and 30 minutes later. What I'm wondering is if the next team(s) to check into the pit stop were close enough that the 30 minutes would make a difference in terms of order. Would any of the other teams move ahead of them? I know generally it wouldn't make that much of a difference unless their next detour or roadblock required a sign in situation, or if there are 4 spots, for example, on the first flight and because another team moved ahead of them they were able to get to the airport earlier and secure their seats on the flight causing the boyfriends to have to take a later flight.
DS kept distracting me during the show and I missed some things. I didn't know if anyone knew how far behind the next team was. It's just something I was wondering, not something that would really change the scope of the game. If they get a 30 minute penalty and the next team to check in was 45 minutes behind them, the chances of the team behind them moving ahead is slim unless boyfriends make a big mistake. In all of the scenarios I described earlier boyfriends would probably still sign in first, get their spot on the plane, etc. if this was the case.

If this post makes no sense to you, feel free to ignore me :teeth: .

I *THINK* I understand what you are asking. Are you asking if anyone knows what the time difference is between the boyfriends and the next team right now? So, if they are assessed a penalty we would know before next week if the order is affected? Is THAT what you are asking? If not, I am lost. LOL

If it is what you are asking, I can answer you. We never no week to week what the time difference is until we see them leave the pit stop the next week, when the times are given. So no, we do not know the time deifference between them, and the next team. Not at this point.

Whew...tiring wasn't that? That's what I was getting at. Sometimes we see a footrace to the pitstop or we can assume they were really close because they were racing each other on the road (like Ron/Kelly and Hillbillies). I didn't have my full attention on the show (and I didn't tape it) so I didn't see if this was the case. Sorry so confusing. I know now NOT to post questions when I've not had enough sleep :) .

The show always tries to make it look like there's a lot of close calls. You never really know, though. That's why TiVo's so good. While the teams are taking off at the start of a show we usually pause it and note the times. You'd be surprised how often teams in these "close finishes" turn out to be 45 minutes apart.

Now get some sleep!!!

Yes, I'm always surprised that some of the teams are so trusting of others. There's no way I would have started digging without checking the other times. A couple of teams made statements like "we're here, let's just do this one." And Ron and Kelly listening to the girls was so stupid. Even then I think he questioned it and Kelly said let's just dig here. I'm surprised they were so gullible.

Also wondering (if I have my facts straight here) if Debbie and Bianca really meant to mislead Ron and Kelly when they told them where to dig. Again, if I have my facts straight here, didn't the Barbies make the first mistake in digging? I thought they went straight to the 7:40 pile and started digging. Others coming in just assumed because they were there that must be the next closest time. So, Debbie and Bianca may have thought the same thing because the Barbies went there.

Whatever the reason, they were all stupid to do that. I bet their cheeks were red last night!

IMO, yes, the purposely mislead them. The 1st three teams that got the early flight did check the other piles before digging. Debbie/Bianca were one of those three teams. So they knew full well there was a better pile to dig. My question is, why would they mislead them? There was one more opening for for the early flight, that ONE team was going to get, if it wasn't Ron/Kelly, it would of been someone else. Maybe they knew early on they are a threat in the game?

Also, does anyone else feel it was unfair that the delayed 7AM were all put on the 7:40 flight? I think they should of had to stay with their flight.

bummer the two guys were eliminated, I loved their sense of humor !! I hate to disagree with some of you, but I love Rob and Amber, I always thought Rob was a riot !!!

You're right, I didn't think about that. I thought the clue gave the times so they saw 6:00 and started digging. More importantly, though, why would Ron and Kelly ask instead of checking things out themselves? DUMB!! I guess it was a lesson learned, though. They're just lucky it didn't cost them the race.

I agree that the 7:00 flight should have had to stick with their flight.

Also, I hate that the one brother calls the other brother "G" all the time, it annoys me....it is going to be like last season with all the Baby,, go baby, you got it baby...now im going to hear GO G!! LOL

:rotfl: The "baby" thing drives us crazy too! Use their name for  sake.

The equipment failure on the 7:00 flight wasn't the competitors' fault, so I don't see anything wrong with them getting onto the 7:40 flight.

Rob & Amber -- I enjoyed watching them on Survivor All Star and don't see anything wrong with them on AR. If anything, Rob is going to provide plenty of comic relief. Now that the hillbillies are gone, someone has to!

The other teams better stop concentrating so much on Rob & Amber and concentrate more on the race. Susan & Patrick want to try to get them eliminated? Fine, but they better be careful they don't end up dropping from #2 to #9 in the next leg as a result.

Ron & Kelly -- Y'know, I'm going to give Ron the benefit of the doubt when he told Ray about being a POW. Ray may have followed the story of his capture in the news, and may have said to him something like "I know I've seen you somewhere before, but I can't think of where."

Brian & Greg -- LOVED the "isn't 7:00 before 7:40" exchange! :rotfl2: They could become a favorite.

Go ROMBER!!!

I LOVE Rob and Amber...Good for them. On Survivor people lost to them by being stupid...I think Rob is the best Survivor ever...

I have been watching the last 3 amazing races and this one is good already.

I HATE the mother Son team...So nasty...Worry about your end and if you target someone (Romber) it will come back to bite you...It's called KARMA.

Don't like the beauty queen...Sorry but not my thing. SHe seems needy? I just don't like her.

I like the Hillbillies. I will miss them

The brothers are funny and seem quite self-sufficient. I like them and the comment on "Is 7:00 not before 7:40? It is where I grew up..." Was hilarious...FUNNY stuff.

Can't stand the BOSSY guy on/off dating couple. If I heard suck it up one more time I was going to climb into the TV and clock him.

The girls who won have a lot of brains and can-do attitude but I don't like them.

The older couple grew on me by the end of the show...

I can't wait for episode 2 :wave2:

I agree... very funny!! Sometimes though, they can be a bit mean spirited.... When they are up, they are funny, when they are down, they are mean.

Out of curiosity I was looking at the eligibility requirements for Amazing Race and saw something interesting.

Apparently to be on the show you can not currently be running for public office and may not be a candidate for office until at least one year after the airing of the final episode.

Romber for President, anyone??? :teeth: :teeth:

Nooooooo They have to move to Canada and Run here so I can vote... :goodvibes :rotfl2: :goodvibes

I enjoyed last night's episode too. I was a little disappointed too with Romber being on, only because they've already won money. I actually think Rob is quite entertaining. Anyway, I actually found myself routing for Romber. I think because there were so many teams obsessed with beating them.
I was also a little confused with the boyfriends not getting a penalty at the mat. I wonder if it will turn out that they weren't 30 minutes ahead of the guys from down south and will consequently be eliminated. It could be nobody noticed them not following the rules until after everyone got to the pitstop. It should be interesting to watch it pan out next week.

I wonder if every leg will be a money prize like last night. $20,000, unbelievable. If it is, you might see more competition to get there first every leg. I think with the trips, although nice, it might not be something someone will go crazy to get there first for. I can see with the money people really going all out :moped:

I don't think the show would be able to influence what airport officials do - any other person would have been able to get on the 7:40 flight if there was a mechanical fault with their flight. Those sorts of decisions aren't at the discretion of the folks running the show. I don't think it was unfair - just fortunate.

If they received a time penalty, and it was enough of a penalty to put them AFTER the last team, then they would of been eliminated last night, and the hillbillies would of stayed in the race. So, I know for a fact that they will not be eliminated based on a time penalty.

As for nobody knowing about them skipping the rickshaws, I just read an interesting article in next week's TV guide (the cover is graced with Rob and Amber for all you "fans"), the Amazing Race actually has some of the Producer's "trailing" the teams, so it would of been known immediately if someone skips over a task, or a direction.

Just an FYI from the article, the teams started the race at 9AM on a Saturday, and they were all at the pit stop by 2PM Monday. That was a really long leg!

Probably has something to do with the Equal Time requirement. If one of the contestants did happen to run for office, the opposing candidate could file for an equal amount of free air time from CBS

Wow! It took me a while to read through all these posts! When I first heard that Rob & Amber were going to be on AR, I thought "Why? They've all ready won their money. Give someone else a chance!" Now I must say that I am really enjoying them! They work well together, don't get foul mouthed over things, and provide some good comedy.

I also like the brothers. Really sorry to see the hillbillies go. If they had won, they could have been the best millionaires since Jed Clampett and Jethro!

I read in TV Guide something interesting about the African-American couple. One of them used to work for Enron and the other worked for Worldcom, so whey they said that they were recently laid off from their jobs, they were REALLY laid off!

Yes, and that is why winning is so important to them. They even said it in their opening commentary. They had both made great money in their jobs, and they had both been laid off. I am sure with the money they made, they lifestyle they lived can only be kept up with the million dollar win!

I don't think that the 7pm folks should have had to stay with their flight. What if that flight # had been cancelled or the number had changed? Not sure what made it their flight. They shouldn't be penalized for an airline's goof - any more than any traveler would be.

I SO agree with those of you that hate all of the "baby"s. Don't these people KNOW their partner's names?

:confused3 Ok...am I the only one who recognized one of the brothers...Brian, I think. I've seen him somewhere else & I have no idea where. He's been on some tv show or something; it's driving me crazy. Does anyone else recognize him? Also, I read his bio, and there's no connection there.
