The Amazing Race 6...Official Thread

For her part, Victoria also blames the editing ("I shrugged it off a lot, and I also gave it back to him a lot. They didn't always show me telling him 'Get away from me' or 'Back off' or just defending myself.") Of the shove, she says "that moment in Berlin was a heavy moment for us, and probably one of the most dramatic moments in our relationship. We don't fight like that; we're not physical with each other. So having the worst moment of your relationship aired on national television was pretty tough."
Denial is not just a river in Egypt.

I can handle Romber on AR. Actually, a better team would have been Boston Rob and Big Tom, the VA hog farmer. I'm sure that would have been the hope of the people who do the captions -- job security! :teeth:

As for the J&V and Dr. Phil special .... I'd sooner spend an hour or two trapped inside IASW than watch that. :crazy2:

As much as I'm a big fan of both Survivor and AR - I don't want to see Rob and Amber on AR. They've had their 15 minutes of fame (more than that!) and they should let someone else have theirs. Who knows maybe they are bumping out a couple who are just as entertaining as J &V ;)
I for one will be routing for them to get eliminated early on. It's exactly like when all the previous winners of Survivor were outed early. Bin there, done that, got the cash......time to move on.
Don't they have a wedding to plan???

Rob and Amber do have a wedding to plan AND from what I hear Mark Burnett will be helping them and then showing it on TV. Didn't we have enough with Trista and Ryan?

Have a magical Disney Day!!:)

+ plus: the couple will be back on CBS primetime with their own Dr. Phil special in February. :crazy2:

Are you kidding me?! I like Dr. Phil. Why is he doing a special with these 2 walking personality disorders?!

I'm another one who's not particularly interested in seeing "Rambuh" on AR, or the "dueling dysfunctionals" on Dr. Phil. Aren't there enough other people that could do these things? Out of 280 million Americans? Sadly, I always considered AR "a cut above" most reality shows, now it just seems like they're more concerned with pretty and/or wild people instead of interesting places and challenges. Sigh. A shame, really.

Ditto...I really hope AR is not heading that way but all signs point to it doing so. :guilty:

Without ratings, CBS will cancel the show. The way I see it, casting Rob & Amber will bring a bunch of Survivor fans to the show & they will realize how it is really the BEST reality show & they'll tell their friends & the ratings will increase. AR's ratings have increased, but they are not "Survivor" ratings, so the show is not guaranteed to return every season. From what I've read, it has been very close to being cancelled more than once. Maybe if they start getting better ratings, we'll get a reunion special after the finale, like Survivor. That would be awesome. ::yes::

I understand this, but I still think the appeal of this show has been the non celebrity couples. I think many people see themselves in the real people and can identify with them. I honestly haven't cared for it as much since they started putting the lunatics (including Allison from Big Brother) on. Too much drama and not enough substance.

But, like I said, I understand the need for ratings and if it keeps the show on, I'll give it a try. I just hope Rob and Amber don't play to the camera and are serious about the race. I do see them being a very competitive team. I don't dislike them, but I think it's wierd to see them on another reality show. Like they're just in it for the 15 minutes of fame.

And...yes, a reunion show would be awesome!! I'd love to see an AR Allstars!!

I guess I'm just different. I just really like seeing all the places they go & there are always a few teams I really like, a few I really don't. I think it'd be bad if they casted all "likable" couples. How boring that would be. Oh well, I know I'll keep tuning in as it is by far the best reality show on TV.

As for Rob & Amber, I've liked Rob since Marquesas. He was my favorite of that whole group. I didn't like Amber when she was on Survivor the first time, but I liked her on All-Stars & I like her & Rob together, I guess that's why I don't mind them on the show. If it was Richard Hatch & Johnny Fairplay as a team, I wouldn't be happy. BUT, I would enjoy it when they were eliminated...LOL!

OMG! I can't stand Johnny Fairplay. The only show I'd be happy to see him on is Fear Factor (which I don't watch) so everyone can see what a wimp he really is. I cannot possibly describe how much I detest him.
I don't mind non-likable couples on AR, just the ones that do nothing but argue, whine and bicker all the time. I, like you, always have a few teams that I really can't stand, but it seems like there are more and more of them each season. I just don't want them to do away with people like Chip and Kim and Kris and John. I've had lots of favorites from the past but I can't remember their names. The only other person I've disliked as much as J and V is the girl who won with a male partner and she whined and was witchy all the time. She had an old fashioned name if I remember right. Does anyone know who I'm talking about?

Flo? She was a wreck. What was her partners name? He was a saint.

That would be Zach and Flo from season 3. She whined the whole time and wanted to quit every week. Zach had the patience of a saint to put up with her! I'm not sure how I feel about Romber but I think they will be entertaining.

Is it just me, or does anyone else not have the feeling of "anticipation" for tonight's show now that Dr. Jekyll and Mrs. "Centerfold" Hyde are gone? The one thing I really looked forward to each week was hoping they'd lose. I guess I'll just have to channel all that energy into a victory for Jon and Kris.

As for the Rob and Amber issue...I may be one of the only people in America that doesn't watch Survivor so they'll be fresh faces for me. I do agree with previous posts that today's reality TV stars (a modern "Brat Pack"?) should not be recycled on whatever new show gets created.

I am totally with you. The appeal of this show is the locations for me. Not the teams, in fact I can't keep up with your banter about the names of people on teams as of this point in the race - later I will be able to.

Thanks! I don't even have a good excuse why I can't keep track of what day it is: already had coffee, got a good night's sleep...go figure!
