THE AMAZING RACE 15, Season Starts 09/27/09

my googling is getting me nowhere.

I have looked through season summaries of both Rob and Amber seasons and none of the tasks sound familiar.

I recal them being in some kind of tribal village or something--but none of the posted tasks sound anything like the one they didn't do.

I think that the one that they didn't do involved eating huge quantities of meat. I don't remember more than that.

I think it was camel meat or something. There were chunks of hair and teeth in it and Rob/Amber talked everybody out of eating it.

Aaaahhhh thank you my wonderful googlers!

When was the haystack challenge that they are redoing next week?

I know it wasn't an option especially since one team spent 8 hours.

Was the 4 hour delay part of the clue?

I haven't found that part yet? :rotfl:

It was the Utah sisters....

The Rob/Amber challenge is still one of the most genius moves in AR history. I chuckle every time I think about it. Love or hate them, they knew how to play the game!

I was just thinking couldn't Maria/Tiffany have tried to hit the bell together? Might have given them that extra bit of umph. I thought the golf challenge looked very easy....not sure why the teams got so worked up about it :confused3

:rotfl:

I really need to get something else done today, so here is my last finding.

Faced with eating four pounds of cooked animal products as an Amazing Race 7 roadblock task in Argentina, Survivor’s Rob decided to quit. “I didn’t want to eat, but I still wanted to stay in the race. When you quit at a task in The Amazing Race, you have only one choice, and that’s to take a four-hour penalty from the time that the next team arrives at the task.”

It sounds like that was a "blanket rule" at least in that season of AR. I don't know if it would still stand in the current season. It also says that the penalty starts when the next team arrives at the task.

We weren't watching yet that season. It looks like such an exhausting and frustrating task!

Yeah....what was so genius is that Rob knew the rule as soon as they got there. He knew right away he wasn't going to eat it. I think he ate a few bites and then decided to not do it. All he had to do was wait for another team to arrive and then convince them to quit. Even better when a second team arrived and quit too. Since the penalty started when the next team arrived they had a built in lead over the other quitting teams. It really was genius. And for the record, that BBQ looked absolutely nasty AND it was a huge amount.

Didn't the clue say they had to take turns?

I felt bad for the Poker Players, but they'd never survive next week with the haystack thing. I remember that one - it took one team so long, that Phil had to come out to them in the dark to tell them they'd been eliminated.

Now I see why it is called The Amazing Race....I was saying goodbye to Bryan and the beauty queen, (can't remember her name ) all night and then it really becomes AMAZING!!! :teeth:

I thought the Globetrotters were hysterical at the dancing comp. :lmao:

Next week looks so difficult. :headache:

We weren't watching that season either.

For all you from the beginning loyal fans, do they just have to unroll the bales to find the clue or do you have to unroll, then pull the compacted hay apart, digging for the clue???

They just have to unroll the bales, and the clue will be lying in the flattened part of the bale. It sounds easy, but as others have said, one team never did find a clue several years ago.

It's the needle in the haystack challenge.
I think it is a small object.
And not every haystack will have an object in it.
And if they don't see it, they go onto the next haystack.
So they need to look at the hay very carefully.

I so could of eaten the herring.:rotfl: But did it have a head on it?
I actually love herring fish-which is just pickled right?

That break Erika took was a smart move. A lot of teams would have kept at it, trying to do it as fast as possible, but taking those 5 minutes to calm down probably saved her from getting it wrong again, as flustered as she was.

I also thought the clue said they had to take turns. That's why Maria was putting so little effort into it. She knew Tiffany was the only one who stood a chance of getting it, so she just gave it a little tap to give the turn back to Tiffany. Though I wouldn't have gone about it that way, that's what I think she was doing.

I also think the golf challenge was harder than it looked. The grass was pretty long, the clubs were clumsy, I think it took some strength to hit the ball, too, and Maria just didn't have it.

It's hard for a two-woman team. Often there are challenges that require a lot of physical strength.

Here's a youtube of the other season's hay bale task. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8ZS6ZPM0Nk

Phil says at the beginning there are 270 bales of hay and 20 clues, so it's a wonder the rest of them found them as fast as they did (or seemed to).

I didn't watch the show regularly then, but I remember I happened to catch this episode. It was so sad when Phil came out to tell them they'd been eliminated. She worked so hard, and they both kept such a good attitude about it.
