THE AMAZING RACE 15, Season Starts 09/27/09

Am I the only one who would be fine with my SO pushing me down the slide if I couldn't bring myself to do it? :confused3 :rotfl:

I haven't even been watching TAR for that long, but I've seen them zip-line, bungy jump, climb down the outside of a building and more. A slide like that would be one of the easier height stunts and is over in a matter of seconds. For a chance at a million bucks, I think I'd thank him for pushing me down it... ten minutes later anyway. ;)

I could probably do a slide like that. Bungee jumping or rappeling off a building, not in your life.

I think I can do anything with my eyes closed! :cool2:

I don't have a problem with heights, but when something scares me,
I sort of have a panic attack, and it looks like it is happening with her.
I love water slides, but I always wonder if it would be possible to tumble forward if you don't position yourself correctly. This is why I said, a lifeguard is always there, making sure everything is correct before you go down a water slide.

If that yerk was trying to force her down the slide she needs to dump him now!!!!!! Hope it really wasn't what the preview looked like :scared1:

I don't know what a yerk is but I'd throw her down the slide too. It's a race and sitting there shaking like a lost lamb isn't going to win it. After you go on to win the race you can break up and each take a half of a million dollars as a parting gift (more like $300K after you share it with the government).

Just like last year with the sisters swimming one has step back and think logically in all situations. A slide that is in a tourist attraction is not going to kill you and CBS is not going to kill you on national TV. Riding in a vehicle in most of those cities is far more dangerous and has a higher probability of resulting in injury or death than a water slide. Then again this is the same person who thought that CBS was going to have her base jump off the world's tallest building so that speaks volumes for her ability to critically think out situations.

I can't think of anything I wouldn't do on the race because of some fear. Sure, I would hate to eat scorpions but if the wasn't safe to eat they wouldn't have you eat them so I would hold my nose and show down.

Right ... but you are not on TAR where something that does scare you is guaranteed to be in a challenge along the way. TAR always has something to do with (1) heights, (2) water and (3) driving a stick shift (sometimes on the "wrong" side of the road). I wouldn't be surprised if cute Mika isn't 0-for-3 :rotfl:.

I thought they were in the Bahamas too....It looks exactly like the Atlantis behind them in the water slide scene.

It sure looked like he was trying to throw her down the slide!!

For a million dollars, My Dh is free to throw me down the slide. :lmao:

I did the Typhoon Lagoon slide, and it I freely admit I cursed all the way down pretty loud, so I hope they have that censor button going. But really its over in a few seconds. That slide is undoubtedly higher, so my advice would be go potty first and just close your eyes at the top:rotfl2:

Have a nice trip:thumbsup2

DH and I too thought they were going to the Bahamas. We didn't know about the Atlantis down there, but then with income ratio over there I don't know why there wouldn't be 1. We have only seen Atlantis in the Bahamas from a distance when the Magic docked last yr. We didn't have enough money for that trip so we did something else.

For $1 million, my DH is welcome to toss me down a slide, off a building, whatever. And I will assume I can do the same with him and would, without asking. :lmao:

Seriously though, if you have a paralyzing fear of heights, guess what --- you are NOT in the running to be my partner on the Amazing Race, end of story.

I think I'd have a problem with eating/drinking gross stuff though - I'm not one to vomit and then continue on with the eating/drinking of the thing that made me vomit. :goodvibes

Sorry, but Mika seems like a big, fat whiner. Wasn't she also the one who couldn't sled? Seriously! And you know darn well that AR is going to involve a bunch of physical challenges, like bungee jumping or swimming under ice. You have to be fearless to win--that''s kind of the point. You're going to be scared, tired, filthy, and confused. But, keep your wits about you, work through it,and you may just win a million bucks.

P.S. I would never go on AR, I'm petrified of heights. But, see, I know this, and don't apply. So I don't get picked. Funny how that works...

It costs about $50 USD for a two hour pass to Ski Dubai so your gas dollars are not subsidizing it. Give Dubai a little credit for reinventing itself as a global tourist destination so there is money coming in when the oil runs out.
I could be mistaken, but I think MIGrandma meant that someone is making so much money on oil in Dubai that they could afford to build a place like this, not that gas dollars are subsidizing it.

One interesting bit of trivia about Dubai that my friend told me is that on the palm tree island that they built, you can't swim off of your property because the water is infested with sharks. :scared1:

He said that he went to a friend's house for dinner on that island and that's how he found that out.

I am so right there with you 3........do what ever you need to do to make me JUST DO IT!!!!! My neice would love to do TAR with me. Neither of us have the option to take the time off needed to do it. She is gung-ho to try anything. And as far as eating, there are several foods that I can "eat" right now and never taste it. I can play the chew, swallow and puke game, when needed. She would have done the Wasabi challenge in a heart beat.

How fun that would be for you and your neice though!! I have to say, I've never had to eat gross stuff with $1 million on the line, so I probably could struggle through.

OK, I just watched this vid of Canaan and Mika after the pitstop. Sooooo funny that she is "learning new things about her boyfriend" when he gets mad. Wonder what she'll think after the slide incident. And IMO, he's starting to like a little wild in the eyes, kinda crazed.

Since we're talking about Mika and Canaan, I saw another clip where they said they'd been dating for three months. (I had been wondering what "newly dating" meant.)

How long does it take to apply for TAR, be notified you're on it, then start filming? Did they decide on their first date to do AR together? :confused3 Does it seem odd to anyone else to do this with someone so early in a relationship?

Funny thing, though, I am liking them more and more, even though they seem a little nuts sometimes! :rotfl:

Oh see.... I'm liking them less and less. Thing is.. I really WANT to like them, but she is just too much of a princess. I saw an interview with her and how they went to visit her family in the middle of no where it sounded. I always think of country girls as having a tougher skin than hers.

Oh and yeah... I thought it would've taken longer to apply, interview, etc as well.

And about pushing her on the slide.... I would be okay if my dh did that now because he knows me and my limitations. He knows when to push and when to lay off, and I trust him. At 3 months or so into our relationship, it would not have set well -- not even for a million dollars.

OMG! What an ending!! I never say that one coming!
I do not believe the taunting went over the line, this is a game after all.
Woo! That was a nail biter.

I agree! Thank you Mika for acting like a 4yo so that the Globetrotters could remain! :thumbsup2

And yes her boyfriend was a jerk as well but I wanted to scream at the TV, "it's a WATERSLIDE!" Bungee jumping, I understand, but a waterslide?

How much is 14,166.00 dubai dollars converted into U.S.? I want to go to that Atlantis. :)
