THE AMAZING RACE 15, ~Season Premier~ 09/27/09 pg 64!

Interesting show last night- I enjoyed it for the most part. BuzznBelle'sMom- I agree with pretty much everything you said.

I can't wait to see the other racer's faces when they check in with Phil- looks like next week the redheads need a serious attitude adjustment.

I don't understand the whole "coming in first" mentality and why the red heads were that worked up about it. Yes, it is nice to win the prizes, but the whole point is to not come in LAST (until the last leg).

TTWSNBN were one of the first to grasp this concept and did very well, along with a few other teams like TK and Rachel. It just seems like so much unneccessary stress and drama.
FWIW, the TTWSNBN wasn't all that successful at NOT coming in last ... for both races they were in :confused3. I can understand why you would want to come in FIRST. Wouldn't you want to win a free trip? Wouldn't pushing yourself to be first be worth it?

My thoughts on last night's show:

I wasn't surprised it was a "continuation" show, just because you had the airport stuff that leveled the field, then the tasks weren't all that time consuming. Certainly, not much separates the teams at this point.

I'm liking Victor more and more. He started out being such a jerk, but he's always encouraging other teams and smiling at them, trying to help them along (within reason, of course). He and Tammy didn't seem mad about the other teams using their language skills, then they didn't even win that leg (last week). Maybe the race is loosening him up a bit?

I'm not a big fan of Kisha and Jen, and I'm mystified that they didn't learn to swim at some point in their adult lives. A swimming portion is not that unusual. that said, I have to give major props to Jen for fighting through her fears--that has to be real tough. It's not like she had to golf and had never done it--she was really, really scared! And I really respect Kisha for being so supportive, thinking that they were going to be eliminated, and still telling Jen to finish strong. I have amuch higher opinion of them than I did before.
I agree with both of your comments here. I think that Victor has really grown up a bit on the race. He's now very nice to Tammy and I like how they encourage each other.

I was also impressed by Kisha and her support of Jen. I am glad that they were able to do the swimming with PFDs. I wonder why they didn't do that to begin with. Just float and kick your legs ... not difficult. They might have even been able to beat Tammy and Victor to the map if they had stuck with the initial task and not switched.

I am looking forward to Margie and Luke going home. I can't stand them.

I was very impressed with how patient and supportive Kisha was with Jen. First, Jen wasted time watching Victor and Tammy try the diving challenge. Then she got up on the board and said "I can't do this". So they go and get ready for the swimming challenge and after Kisha does two laps, Jen, in a life vest, says she can't do that either. So they go back to the diving, where she at least attempts it a few times, then back to the swimming (after a major meltdown).

I understand that she was terrified. What I don't understand is why Kisha let her go back to the diving task when she was already there once and got off the diving board because she couldn't do it! I would not have been so supportive, particularily of somebody not wanting to swim when they are wearing a life jacket, in a pool, with life guards! Kudos to Kisha for helping her sister!

I am rooting for Tammy and Victor at this point, which surprises me because I really didn't like them at first.

The Team Who Shall Not Be Named! Rob and Amber from All Stars!

I guess my point was that the teams waste so much energy worrying about coming in first that isn't really necessary. I have seen plenty of teams make really risky choices just to come in first, and then they have to fight just to stay in the race. Don't get me wrong, it would be great to come in first and win those prizes, but I think the teams get too worked up about it.

Not only did TTWSNBN not worry too much about first place, their season also showed how the other teams were self destructing by worrying so much about them instead of racing their own races. I haven't seen a whole lot of that this season, but I think the teams are much better matched and there is no "strong" team left this time....they are all strong in different aspects so it just depends on what the tasks are that week.

TTWSNBN?

Who/What is that?

The Team Who Shall Not Be Named = Rob and Amber. It got quite heated on the threads during their season(s) and that moniker was used for them a lot.

I like Margie and Luke. :) I also like Tammy and Victor and have for most of the race (except when he was ignoring her in Transylvania).

I was impressed with Kisha's support of Jen as well...it would have been very easy for her to completely lose it and start yelling at her sister.

That said...I'm not sure why they even tried Sync - you have to dive/jump into deep water! With the swimming, they could use the PFDs and hang onto the lane dividers, plus I don't think those pools are all that deep, are they? They could have finished that before T&V, even if they just pulled themselves along on the dividers.

I can't believe how difficult the diving portion of that detour turned out to be.

I hope something is said to Luke about the way he is acting towards Keisha and Jen. Pushing them everytime they are neck in neck. It seems he has some anger issues and has found someone to take them out on. Then for his mother to turn things around like they were laughing at his signing, is so wrong. She's just shouting "victim". Play nice, kids. ;)

If Luke has a boyfriend...I feel sorry for the boyfriend. Can you imagine having to date Margie as well?

I'm so excited! We get a gnome task next week! I know we're probably crazy, but DH and I love the gnome tasks.

Also, regarding the airport counter, could anyone one of them say "I don't speak Chinese" in Chinese, or any language other than English for that matter!
I said the same thing to my DH. They seem to think that everyone should speak English and it just drives me crazy. The redhead chick is the worst though. I don't know how the other keeps from killing her. She is in embarrassment and is truly the ugly American stereotype.

I'm really getting tired of the whole "victim" routine that Margie is playing. I used to like them, but the lying and games are really starting to show on them and I'm hoping they don't win it. What is even more surprising is that I find myself cheering for the cheerleaders over them. :scared1:

I am a massage therapist and I found the foot massage roadblock hilarious.
:rotfl2: I always tell my clients - please don't hesitate to say something if I am hurting you afterall a massage should be relaxing as well as therapeutic. If your muscles are tensing up, the massage is not beneficial and definitely defeating the purpose. It looked as though those girls were really enjoying inflicting pain. :rotfl:

Yes - they had some truly, evil grins on their faces - scary!

I'm also really starting to root against Margie and Luke. I couldn't believe how glad I was that the redheads came in first over them, and I hate the redheads!

Never been a huge fan of Keisha, although I've always liked Jen, especially after the leg where she kept insisting they should get their bags on the boat and Keisha wouldn't listen to her. But, I was very impressed with how patient and caring Keisha was and kept encouraging Jen that they should just finish "strong" even if they were last.

I guess I'm rooting for Tammy and Victor to win it all.

By default, I think I am too ;)

Actually, I have always liked Tammy, and Victor seems to be growing as a person during the race so I guess I could live with them winning. They are the lesser of all the evils.

I am over my Margie/Luke love, last week really damaged it but this week killed it. Luke did another body check at the airport, completely uncalled for and he sailed right on by with Margie just chuckling. The sisters ignored him.

Keisha won me over a lot last night, her talking to her sister during the panic attack over the swim/dive challenge was just awesome.

What bugged me was Jen and Keisha's remarks at the airport; I expected better out of them. Granted, there is a lot of editing done to comments but regardless it was a stupid thing to say. The reason for the pass on the comments is because it was the first time they had said anything so nasty and I felt for them when they were trying to get the woman's attention at the counter. I've been in that position and it feels so bad to be "looked through" like you aren't even there, it can trigger some stupid and unfortunate words/phrases to come out of one's mouth.

I do think the remark about the "looking alike" was more in reference to all the cabs physically looking alike and not directed at the people. It was said after they had talked to a cab driver they had already spoken to-- as they were walking down a line of identical cabs. There are others who are saying it was Jaime that actually said it but they showed Jen and Keisha walking-- I haven't looked at the episode again to verify it.

Jamie and Cara-- when Phil gave them the next clue, I laughed long and loud.

I genuinely like Tammy and Victor, they won me over. I am hoping they win the prize.

Couldn't agree with you more. I've always liked Tammy & Victor. No one is perfect and they have really worked hard I think at their relationship.

Margie and Luke...just can't wait to see their faces when they find out Jen and Kisha aren't out. Have had no respect for this team for most of the entire race. Can't wait for them to be gone or to just lose.

Jamie and Cara...the look on their faces was priceless when Phil gave them the clue and told them they were still racing. And don't know which it is...Cara...who is always griping about the natives not speaking English. Ugh.

Kisha had way more patience with her sister than I think I would have, I'm ashamed to say. Her wanting to finish strong was just a great thing to see. I hope that they can pull it together and that there's an airport equalizer or something.

Rooting for Tammy and Victor, wouldn't be upset if J&K won, but would be supremely disappointed if the redheads or Margie & Luke did.
