THE AMAZING RACE 15, ~Season Premier~ 09/27/09 pg 64!

I think tammy and Victor will win. They seem to be playing the smartest, at least now. Maybe not so much in Transylvania...

Kisha and Jen--They seem nice enough, but don't seem to have game smarts. they spend a lot of time depending on other teams, not picking the right tasks, etc. I think it's just dumb luck that they're still in the race at all.

Margie and Luke--Good racers, I wouldn't mind seeing them win. My big concern with them is, Margie's been doing most of the roadblocks. I wonder if a roadblock might come up where you're required to communicate with locals, that would be super hard for Luke. You have to decide who does the roadblock before you know exactly what the task is. I don't know that there's a requirement that each team member do a certain number of roadblocks, but I could jsut see this biting them in the butt, potentially.

Redheads--The one girl has to learn to hold her tongue. She seems to get frustrated and yell very easily, it's difficult to watch. Beyond that, though, they race okay.

As far as the whole fight goes, I dind't think it was all that big a deal. It's towards the end, we're watching competitive peopel in a race for a million dollars. They are all exhausted, sleep deprived, Lord knows if they're getting proper nutrition--I'm not quick to judge tempers flaring and a little pushing. I think Luke's deafness can be a barrier that works both ways--in his understanding others as well as them understanding him.

All that said, I'm routing for Margie and Luke. I have to--I have a Luke (mine is much cuter--of course, he's only 3!)

I find it so funny when teams get upset when other teams lie or try to deceive them. They are all in it to win it and are going to do whatever it takes. And while I don't think they have to backstab one another constantly, I can understand a little white lie thrown out there every now and then to throw someone off. It is a game.

There is, after the season where Chip and Kim won because Chip did every.single.roadblock , a new rule appeared that forces the teams to share in the roadblock tasks.

Keisha and Jen are so boring. It's like their personalities were surgically removed. I've never seen such bland, boring faces and expressions.

Victor needs to maybe balance out some of his book learnin' with a little common sense. He seems to have trouble with basic problem solving. I did love the "Our parents will cry themselves to death if we don't win!" comment by Tammy though.

You can really tell it was a great episode last week - 6 pages of comments!

Can't wait for next week :cool1:

I remember when they started that roadblock rule...but I don't think they've mentioned that for at least a few seasons...hmmm...

What roadblocks has Luke done? This week with the fishing, and running in his skivvies in Russia, and the one with Chekhov....am I forgetting any others (I'm sure I am!)?

I just watched TAR last night (dvr). I was upset by all this elbowing and name calling BUT that being said...it was J&K that before any of this even started said in their interview in one of the taxi's in Sunday's show that now that the Race is getting close to finishing, they would not stop at any means to push or shove someone if they needed to.....do any DISer's remember them saying that? :headache:

Then it was within minutes that the first incident happened at the "shampoo" station.

I do not enjoy watching incidents like that at all. It was bothersome. Play the game, people and do not resort to pushing, shoving and name calling. :sad2:

I try to keep in mind that they can make any situation appear the way they want it in the editing room. For all we know the answer by the sisters was in response to a direct question from the camera man made to elicit that response. Margie and Luke are my least favorite racers, I am pulling for Tammy and Luke. Since there is at least one more leg in China I am hoping they get ahead by themselves and can really use their language advantage without the other teams mooching off of them again.

I was a little surprised to read (link below) that both Luke and Kisha are gay. The writer states that AR decides what personality trait they will focus on for each racer: hence Luke's storyline is that he is deaf. Apparently Luke also wanted AR to allow him to talk about being deaf and gay, but AR ruled against it, saying they would just focus on his being deaf. Interesting insight into the world of 'reality' television.

Legalsea, thanks for the update. My gaydar went off over Luke, but it was faulty with Kisha, LOL. Not that I care who someone loves ... it's all good :).

The article about Kisha at AfterEllen said that her nickname in college was indeed "Dr. Giggles" which would explain her laughing at the mat. I have to admit that until I read the AfterEllen article I was confused about which sister was Jen and which was Kisha . For the record, Jen has the longer hair and Kisha is "Dr. Giggles".

Yup, it's a game, for a lot of money!! I know that if I were in there I wouldn't be afraid to tell a few white lies. I wouldn't be afraid of hurting anyones feelings either. I wouldn't be mean or vindictive, but being too nice can cost you the game.

It's funny, I think we lose sight of the fact that it is a game when we are watching it once a week on the tv. We get upset over something like Margie and Luke using the yield. We think it was mean and unnessecary, but really, it was a smart move on their part. They got rid of some tough competitors and could have knocked them out of the game at some point.

Interesting article. Funny, aside from Mike and Mel being "open", the only one I thought might be gay was Victor (not that there is anything wrong with that;)). :lmao:

I think now knowing that Luke is gay, it may explain a bit more about his defensiveness and Margie's protectiveness of him.

Everyone wants to win. That's a given. The only caveat I would add is that I don't want every reality game show to become a version of Survivor because of the "It's a game for a lot of money" mentality. If I want to watch lies, dirty tricks and back stabbing I can wait until Thursday night. I think that's why I didn't like the way that TTWSNBN raced ... they brought too much of their Survivor successful game play into AR and I think that they changed the game in the process.

I agree. :)

You know, as for the red-haired 'cheerleaders', my wife and I STILL cannot tell them apart. We know that one is consistently rude to the taxi drivers, so that has narrowed it down to two ;) Everytime I think I can tell one from the other, the other one does something surprising that calls my previous identification into doubt.

Now: I am excited that there is a very, very good possibility that, for the first time in AR history, an all-woman team will win. I think that the Chinese American team may have a melt-down (due to the male half becoming stubborn again about how to do a task).

So I was finally able to watch this weeks episode. What I don't understand is at the second clue box. Right after the altercation between Luke and Jen at the box, Margie and Kisha run up to their partners. Then Margie yells "Cut it out Kisha!". Did something else happen that they didn't show? Did Kisha do something to Luke in defense of her sister?

Here's how I tell Jaime and Cara apart. Jaime has the smoother/straighter hair and usually looks more "put together". She is the one who is always complaining about locals not speaking English.

Cara has kind of wavy hair, doesn't usually look as "put together" and her mouth actually kinda curves funny when she's talking.

Usually when they are talking to the camera, Jaime is to the left of the screen and Cara is to the right.

I wondered about that, too. :confused3 Maybe she said something to him? But wouldn't the mike have caught it? :confused3

They really played all of that up, as someone pointed out on the TVGuide.com blog the pushing, shoving has happened before. And people have said pretty much the same things they did too.

It's interesting to see some of the differant prospectives over there, especially a few people who said that because J/K followed T/V around during the calligraphy challenge that J/K should have allowed T/V to step onto the mat first so that they could win the prize. :confused3
