***The almost annual Tony Romas dis meet (Menu link added)***

It's a shame you're unable to come, Eloise, I've never forgotten your kindness in sizing up the Minnie Mouse dresses many, many years ago! :flower3:

I'd have loved to have met you too...I can't believe we're having a DIS meet in my neck of the woods the one week of the year i'm off to Devon :headache: Sod's law... :lmao:

Is it too early to book another one yet?! ;)

Is there a Travel Inn or Travelodge nearby?
I would like to come but convincing DW would be tricky, unless I can plan it so we stay over the night before and don't just turn up after a 4 hour drive.

Premier Inn, cheapest is on M4 16.9 miles away at £48 upto over £100 nearer.
Quick look on Travelodge from £39. or £65 in Kingston(no parking)

Or look on travelsupermaket.com loads on there from £28/night using post code KT1 1QJ

Just hope my Brother has a bedroom for us (he only moved in last week) or we will be looking for an hotel also.

lol this time before i book somewhere to stay or try to decide if we stay afer or not....is someone having drinks at there house after this time.....???? this time ill plan round it!

Its sounds like a great turnout, can't wait to meet those i've not met before.

I'm going to say a tentative "yes". We're up in London on 23rd for a concert and I'm not at all sure we'll want to do the journey again so soon afterwards, but I'm very keen to meet my co-moderators on UKTP and if they're both contemplating 8 hour+ round trips, I can't really complain at a measly 3, I guess. :o

One more question to try and help me make up my mind.
What would there be that we could do as a family once we got down there on Saturday night. It seems silly to do a 8-9 hour round trip just for a meal (regardless of how good the food and company will be :goodvibes) so I was wondering what else might appeal once we are down there.
How far away is the London Eye for example? Would we need to drive to get there or is there a train/tube connection?
Any ideas gratefully received :)

You are all more than welcome to come back to our house in Fleet.

As long as you are OK with the dog and the fact that our house does look like we spend all our extra cash on Florida holidays.;)

There is a nice Innkeepers lodge just round the corner http://www.innkeeperslodge.com/ and we are on the main line in to waterloo which is perfect if you were thinking of a trip up the London Eye.

Let me know if you would like some more details.

Really gutted we can't make it!!! It's definitely going to be a fab event and I would have loved to introduce DH to so many illustrious members of the DIS Hall of Fame... :goodvibes Have an absolutely brilliant time, guys!!! :thumbsup2

Ah well, there's always next year...?

aww karen, I'm so sorry you wont be there, especially as you would have got to meet colin, hopefully the next meet:hug:

Sorry to add to your list Tony but the boys really want to come too so looks like it will be party of 5 from here:cool1:

How many does it seat Tony, we might need the whole place at this rate. :rotfl:

The cost for a double or family room at the Innkeeper's Lodge, Fleet on the Saturday is £54 for the flexible rate (i.e. cancellable without charge) and £49.95 for the advance rate.

Well after a chat with the missus we have definately decided that we are coming to this - and have also decided to come down on the Friday and stay for 2 nights. :goodvibes
I'm sure we'll find something to do in London village for the Saturday - now we just have to find somewhere to stay.
I see on the map that Heathrow isn't that far away. Would basing ourselves at a hotel here and getting the tube into London be a good idea? And if so has any of you stayed in one of the Heathrow Hotels and can give any opinions. I was looking at the Jurys Inn - which looks OK to me and has the sort of amenities we are after.
Sorry for all the questions but - and this probably sounds daft to some of you - we have never really been to London before so its all going to be a bit new to us :)

Can't help a great deal with best hotel for you, not up on routes into London, we always stay at a Premier Inn, Kenton Road, Kenton, HA3 8AT. It has a tube station straight opposite and ideal for us North of London, 30 mins tube to centre but approaching from Heathrow/Kingston area hopefully someone will give you advise.
We love London, try to get to the theatre but not been for a while. London eye was brilliant, kids loved it. Also done Maddam Tussauds, Natural History museum, I could just spend the weekend looking at the buildings. I am sure you will enjoy the whole weekend.
