This photo is not too great since I took it with my camera phone. The wire hanging from the beam is for a surround sound speaker. There is also going to be a decorative front on the gas insert...just waiting for the butt head from the fireplace store to get back to me. He never ordered it!!! He is a male chauvanist (sp) pig that doesn't take me seriously either.

Tom and I made the mantle. It goes with the parquet floors...Tom and I would have killed each other if we did this fireplace ourselves.:

The baseboards should be done tomorrow. Then the floors next week then we have mouldings and the shower to do and that is almost it!!! :cool1:

It looks beautiful!!!!! Seriously, you guys do great work! Congrats on being so close to done!

We had a leak from our fridge water dispenser over the weekend, and it leaked into our basement ceiling which then collapsed over our new couch. Guess what we're doing in our "spare" time??? Of course, I say we, but I really mean Alan! I'm not much help in the house repair department! However, I did pick out my new garbage disposal that Alan got me for mother's day! Woohoo!!!

Lauren- that fireplace does not even resemble the "before"! What a difference you two have made. We had one built and there is no wat that Buddy and I would have survived trying to lay the stone, it is not easy so I say again, money well spent. It is beautiful!

Glynis- David does not strike me a kid who is going to let it "go to his head". I'm glad that you got to see him.

BTW, I am booking our room at the Park Vue Inn tomorrow :thumbsup2 Be prepared to be peppered with all kinds of questions. I am so excited, I have not raveled with my sister in years and we always have so much fun together.

WooHoo!!! When is your trip, again??? I'm so excited for you. Just be aware that the Park Vue is not going to be anything like the resorts at WDW, but it does have the advantage of being the closest hotel to the gates (Grand Californian notwithstanding).

I can't wait to help you out with this trip!!! Since I won't be going again until September of 2009, I have to live with anyone else indulging with a trip!

I will! Thank you! I will keep my eyes closed when all the wonderful recipes and pictures appear.;)

I tried to do that, but found that my imagination was worse than just reading the recipes and enjoying the pictures. For some reason, looking at the food porn is almost as good as eating it!

How is NutriSystem working out for you? I have a friend that lost 80 pounds using it. She's kept it off for 2 years, too. Good luck to you! If you need any moral support, we are here for you!

Dieters, WWers, and anyone who likes yummy, easy, low fat food...have you checked out www.hungrygirl.com? Lots of simple low fat recipes, with WW points. It even has taste alike low fat versions of some restarant faves. She also has a new cookbook out. Check it out! I just made some of the low fat pb fudge the other day.

My WFD? We checked out the restaurant for the rehearsal. I had grilled chick SW salad. Df had shrimp and scallops in a bechamel cr sauce with fettucine. They had a lot of good options. We are going back to chat with the manager tomorrow. they said we could bring our own dessert- my mom is bringing cannolis, napoleans, cr puffs, and eclairs from Naples bakery in Chicago.:worship: So good!

Also, free iced coffee at Dunkin Donuts tomorrow, 10-10!

Looks fantastic!

Aimee, I made Riley some string beans...he loves them! :thumbsup2

Good!

Also, free iced coffee at Dunkin Donuts tomorrow, 10-10!

You know, I've never been inside a DD. We don't have them here, really. I have bought their coffee at the store and it was tasty!

It's also free chicken day at McDonalds. With purchase of a drink, of course. I'm tempted to get their iced coffee in the morning and a free chicken biscuit.

My BFF just IM'd me to tell me that McD's has free chicken sandwiches with the purchase of a drink tomorrow too.

I'm up late cutting fabric, I am making a quilt for her to give as a babyshower gift. It's Saturday and I just started cutting today. :scared:

Our small group in our Sunday School class is getting together for dinner tonight. We are grilling hamburgers and hot dogs. I am taking a cake, 2 kinds of chips and 2 dip (chips and dip courtesy of Bi-lo). I made the cake yesterday so I have the day off.

Have a great day all!

Where is Lindsay? Yoo Hoo!!!!?

Scott worked from home yesterday so I had to DIS from the laptop. He reinstalled Windows on it and therefore it forgot my password and I never could get it right to log in! But I was reading here all day, just couldn't post :)

I will just lurk & salivate...I'm on Nutri-System...UGH!

Hi! Good to see you back!

***Hey all, I need some suggestions*** As I mentioned last week, we bought a new mattress. It is being delivered on Saturday. Because of this expensive purchase (thank you stimulus check!), I have decided to splurge and go buy some new sheets. Our sheets have a lot more traffic on them than the average *no pervy comments!!* so I feel perfectly justified in buying some. I plan on going to Linens 'n Things to get them. Do you guys have any favorite brand/kind/fabric of sheet that you prefer? I'm just looking for ideas before I go. Thanks!

After thinking about this post, I decided to elaborate on my "high traffic" sheets. It occurred to me that not all of our posters/readers here might not know I'm a paraplegic. That said, I get on the bed to get dressed/change clothes. It just makes life a whole lot easier. LOL, does that help?

Thanks all for the kind words on the fireplace!!!

Lindsay, I do not have a favorite brand but get the highest thread count you can afford. AND, print the online coupons. I cannot go into that store w/o buying multiple items and most of them take multiple coupons. :)

A has a game tonight so we will be eating on the run. I also have to work the snack shack again...

We are playing the best team...please keep the team in your thoughts. We have our best pitcher pitching tonight (Kyle Jr ;) ) which has been lucky for us. :cheer2:

I'll try and catch up more later...have a great day!

And why was it you left us last time?:confused3 I do remember you were very angry. Life is way to short for that.

Good luck to A and the team! Go Kyle Jr.!!:rotfl:

WFD - Beef Stroganoff, egg noodles and eggplant sticks!

Becky - Are you back?????? We missed you and your porn.:lovestruc

I am not really looking for a "luxury" resort this time. We want something clean and close. Gail is coming from a week in Vegas, this was not a planned trip and this is truly an extra for me so I was so glad that you pointed me in the direction of good rates and a clean nice hotel. I'm not sure that I would have found this on my own. Honestly the only time I even care about extra amenities is when Buddy is along. He never gets out to treat himself and when we travel together we like to enjoy the resort as well as the trip, but I am not going all the way to Ca to stay in the room!

Glynis, I am not sure how much planning I can do, we are going to work around whatever schedule Kim has. My sister is already laughing at me because I told her you gave me touring plans. ( She doesn't get the DIS, but if she had looked for rates she would have died! Most are at least $50 more a night) She is like I was after DW when the kids were little, BTDT, now lets go somewhere else! I cannot wait to see her face!

Lindsay- I agree that the highest thread count the better. I have shopped a lot and saw good prices at Linen's N Things, but I ended up in Costco. I have Pima cotton and some kind of "sateen", although I forget the name. The Pima is very soft and durable, and the sateen is nice and cool, especially in the summer. I think they were 600 and 500 TC respectively. They were a little pricey but I tend to wash them and put them back on as I cannot fold those king fitted sheets to save my life! so they get a lot of washing and have held up well.

Dinner is up in the air. I am not feeling spiffy but I have to go to a BBQ at the nursing home my aunt is in. It is raw and rainy so it is going to be indoors.

Good Morning!
Nancy- I hope it's not to rainy by you, that means it's on it's way here and we are having such a nice day.
Paint- cannoli's are my favorite, we don't have any Italian bakeries or delis around here, it's awful. Maybe Laura or Becky could get a cannoli for me at Mike's bakery and I can live vicariously (sp?) through them.
Everyone- I just wanted to thank you all for being so welcoming, though I know who to blame when my family starts requesting monkey garlic bread- I'm going to try it with the pizza dough from the grocery store.

Today my daughter has a teeth cleaning and the dentist is 40 minutes away, so we are going to do stuff while we are up there- Trader Joe's, BJ's, and she needs new shorts and bathing suits. So I think we will go to Panera for dinner. She asked "if that McDonald's place is still open, can we get a strawberry shake?" so after the dentist off to get a shake. I can't wait until all the icecream places start opening up so she can try a real strawberry shake.

Wow -- I'm so impressed. It's gorgeous. Thanks for sharing pics.

I bought the ingredients for the Angel Hair Pasta Salad that was a suggestion on here for our next baseball tournament picnic and plan on giving it a test run tonight. You guys have been talking about wheat pasta, so I bought the capellini in a wheat version. The recipe called for Schilling Salad Supreme, which my store doesn't carry. I didn't have the ingredient list for the homemade version with me, so I bought a McCormick pasta salad mix. I'll try a couple of stores near my work (where I live only has a Brookshires) to see if I can find Schillings, but I bet the other one will work as well.

I also bought the ingredients for the fruit dip -- cream cheese, marshmellow fluff and juice.

I just found out our menu might be brisket, so any other suggestions for easy to make/keep things for that (we're staying in a hotel the night before, but it does have small fridges) would be very welcome.

Thanks again for all the ideas and encouragement. Have a great day!

Well, let's work together to make this a really kick butt trip!!! Seriously, I'd love to help you plan the best trip possible. Kim will really be able to help out a lot with tour info, etc. Let me know what you really, really want to do and I'll try to put together a game plan. It's what I love to do!

I think you'll like Park Vue. It's clean, and quiet, but oh so close! The continental breakfast is nothing to rave about, but my kids like it because they get to choose a sugary breakfast like they never get at home. I just make sure that they get some toast and fruit to go along with it.

I love her - I signed up for the e-mails - I get at least one a day with recipes, ideas, suggestions, about how to make your food choices healthier!
I'm gonna buy her book too... It looks great!

Lindsay - my favorite sheets Ever come from Bed Bath & Beyond. Save your 20% coupons and go try these...

They make different thread counts of their Sateen Sheets - we just by the 350 and they are lovely :cloud9: But they make them in up to 1000 thread count. Good luck with your searching!!

I ended up cooking a Digiorno Pizza for dinner last night. And - I had leftover Garlic Monkey bread with mine.
Not sure what's for dinner tonight though. I'm gonna snoop around for some ideas.

Hope everyone is having a good day!
Toodles :hippie:

Hi, Marci!

With brisket, you could always stop at a bakery and pick up some rolls to sop up the yummy juice!!!

I was going to suggest Denise's calico beans, but since you'll only have a small fridge, that might not work too well. Sorry I can't be of more help!
