The All-New What's For Dinner Thread!!(recipe index in OP)

Y'all are all just too freakin chatty!!! I check in yesterday around 5, come back today at 1:00 and I've missed 4 pages!! I tried to mult-quote but it was a total mess.

I went to church with Alexis & her class this morning. The last church day of Pre-K4. :sad1: Her last school day is Friday. On Sat. my girl & her Mom & Dad take off for WDW at SSR. I made a conscious decision not to go with them, so I could have a pre-summer break. (All-Alexis All the time!) But now I'm just sad & jealous of them going without us!

Master Mason, That's high-falutin faancy porkchops! Thanks for the recipe.:thumbsup2

Paint, Sorry I missed your post about your job & rehearsal dinner yesterday! That really awful! You seem to be coping with it very well! A bridezilla you are not!

On Raglan Road, we really loved it! My only suggestion is if you want to see the dancer & band get there early & plan on lots of eating & drinking, so you can hold the table. We had an 8:00 adr arrived about 7:30 & could not get a table in the room with the band. It was a Friday night & WDW was overall pretty busy that weekend.

Aimee, We haven't stayed at AKL yet. But I am dying to stay there! We've eaten at Jiko twice. Both visits we spent a good bit of time looking at all the artifacts & walking the grounds. It is such a cool place! And the atmosphere is very relaxing & feels really posh!

Ann & Janice, All of your ressies sound great! I'm going to have to make some decisions soon for our Oct trip!

Ann, So I see we've downgraded teenagers into pet carriers!! :lmao: No freezers for them! But apparently Gretchen's going to need something much larger!:rotfl2:

On cooking in the Villa, I didn't! But having a fridge, real forks & knives & a microwave to heat up the yummy leftovers is pretty cool.;)

Oh I forgot my BIL did cook. Y'all remember the Cajun boys breakfast he fixed with himself & Bob in mind? Fried Eggs, biscuits & Fried Bologna! Oh let me post the pic...

Lauren, How's your finger today? Were you bored with AI last night? I thought David Cook rocked the house! I liked Syesha too. I was bored with Archuleta last night though. I thought 2 of his songs were just boring, and that Boo song! Ugh...

Dinner, I haven't a clue. I was thinking of making that chicken salad we've talked about. But I had tuna salad for lunch. When is Becky coming back? I need some inspirational pictures! ;)

Aimee- my family stayed at AKL a few years ago and hands down, it is my favorite resort. There is a lot to be said about indoor corridors! But beyond that, the theme is exotically beautiful. This is a deluxe resort, but along with WL, it is more moderately priced than the others. There are a lot of activities there, it is not just gazing at the animals, although that could have consumed me most of the time. They are so relaxing.

There is an art tour that you can sign up for, The African art displayed there is wonderful so the tour would be worthwhile. You can also sign up for a tour of Jiko and Boma. The Chefs have so much information to share and tastes of the food as well.

Honestly, some people think that the resort is dark but I did not. Walking into the lobby it is as though you have left the hustle and bustle of a fast paced vacation and transported into another continent. Please make time to enjoy the resort and all of the amenities there, this is not a resort to use just to sleep and shower. If you have any questions I will try to answer, and there is a real AKL thread on the resorts board.

Janice I have not been to RR myself, but my nephews GF...her father and Mother went a few months ago and intended to shop and visit Downtown Disney. They never left :thumbsup2. Both said it was so much fun and they said that they enjoyed the food but really loved the step dancers. My own opinion is that you cannot rely on reviews, so many people have different expectations, different tastes and different experiences while at any restaurant. If you think that visiting RR would be fun then go. You will never really regret any time spent at Disney and when there is dancing and a good beer, well it's all good :thumbsup2

See pet carriers are easy and are a less suspicious to transport than a freezer. ;) And seeing as they have holes in them they would be less boyant so no worries about something bobbing to the surface.

I watch too many crime drama's! :rotfl:

Actually on another thread I post on someone jokingly said something about using one to get rid of her, not so dear at the time, H. And every time you guys bring up freezers it reminds me of this scene from in the movie Volver where one of the main characters kills her DH, puts his body in a fridge and keeps moving it until she finally takes it and burys it. :rotfl:

I love AKL, we stayed there the first time we went to WDW.

I have to agree with you Nancy. When I walk in the doors it just seems to bring this calm to me.

My sister stayed in the DVC portion once and she has these beautiful pictures of the animals from their balcony in the morning.

That is my personal goal, to save enough to go to WDW and stay there for 10 days.

Sheryl- I stopped in and saw your BIL's breakfast. That is Buddy's all time fav....fried bologna and eggs :thumbsup2

Yeah, I am not lovin Idol this year either. It is okay but something is missing. Marisa told me yesterday that David A's father is banned from the set. She heard that he goes ballistic if there are any errors and that he was only going to be allowed in the audience last night. :sad2: That was it. I guess he is one of "those" parents. If it is true it really is a shame. That boy has a lot of talent and I cannot imagine how stressful it is to be going head to head with the others. They are a lot older and their life experience has got to help them to deal with the entire thing.

We went up to see David A. this last weekend. He lives in Murray, which is about 25 minutes away from us. He is such a good kid.

The thing about his father is that he is a professional musician. The other 2 finalists complained that he was choosing David's songs and that was unfair to them. I really feel badly about that, as David A. is working under limits the other 2 aren't. Because he's 17, he still has to work with a tutor for at least 4 hours per day. And those are hours that the others are working on their songs, and he doesn't get that.

It was great fun to see him, and to listen to him speak. He is a very well spoken young man, and I hope he does well, whatever happens on Idol.

Just quickly popping in before running more errands. Dinner tonight will be Teriyaki Turkey burgers. If I feel up to it, I'll throw together a strawberry shortcake for dessert.

Glynis- Do you know him? He seems like such a nice kid. I know that no matter what happens on Idol, he is going to have a career. I just felt bad when Marisa said she heard that his Dad was very hard on him and she was under the impression that he was banned because he was upsetting David, he was so tough.

I think that 17 is too young to be competing with 29 YO men and women. There is too much pressure for them IMO, and in the event a parent gets too involved the result can be so demoralizing for the teen.

Sheryl, My finger is much better today..thanks for all of your help! You have me wanting fried bologna now...I have not had that in years. I never had it for breakfast...always on toast for lunch. Gotta try that.

The fireplace is done!!!!! :cool1: I will post a pic tonight...I can't figure out how to send the pic from my phone.

After
This photo is not too great since I took it with my camera phone. The wire hanging from the beam is for a surround sound speaker. There is also going to be a decorative front on the gas insert...just waiting for the butt head from the fireplace store to get back to me. He never ordered it!!! He is a male chauvanist (sp) pig that doesn't take me seriously either.

Tom and I made the mantle. It goes with the parquet floors...Tom and I would have killed each other if we did this fireplace ourselves.:

The baseboards should be done tomorrow. Then the floors next week then we have mouldings and the shower to do and that is almost it!!! :cool1:

Lauren - It's absolutely beautiful!!!! All of the hard work you guys put in really paid off.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Lauren Glad to hear your finger is doing better. I really like the fireplace. Oh Hershey sends a message for Riley. He is not fat or chubby his fur is just extra fluffy.

I am making a grilled chicken salad for dinner.

Thanks Janice!! Riley thanks Hershey too ;)

Aimee, I made Riley some string beans...he loves them! :thumbsup2

Lauren - :thumbsup2 the fireplace looks great! You must be thrilled with the change.

Ann

Thanks Ann! Yes, beyond thrilled! The room was so dark before...you can see the dark paneling on the right of the old fireplace. I will be more thrilled to have my house back in order and then we can focus on the landscaping.

It is starting to look Whiskey Tango (code for white trash) out there!

I don't know him personally, but I do know his Aunt and her family. I taught all her kids in high school a few years ago.

It is a really big deal here in Utah to have "one of our own" doing so well. When he came back, Alan was sent by his station to cover it, and I tagged along. There were screaming teenage girls (ok, and some older women, too) lining the road with signs, t shirts, etc. It was something else.

I think, from the little I have heard from his family, that his father can be very hard on him. He's a perfectionist, and wants David to do well. However, he truly loves his son and wants what is best for him. I think it was a smart move on the part of the producers to ban him from backstage. At this point in the game, David doesn't need that kind of pressure.

It does seem odd to have him competing against older people, but it is amazing that he has done as well as he has. He is really trying to take all the criticism and use it to better his performances. I just hope that celebrity doesn't ruin him, as it does so many young people.
