The All-New "unofficial" AKL/AKV's Jambo & Kidani FAQ thread.....

The CL night is our last night and we have an early flight the next morning. I think I'm set on doing the Wildlife Discovery Excursion, which I think goes at 10 AM and 1 PM. Will we be able to do that on the day we will be checking into CL even though we can't officially checkin and get our room until 3 PM? I hope that makes sense! Thanks for any input!

I was trying to figure this out a couple of years ago and ended up calling the concierge planners because nobody seemed to know. They said that it would be more difficult to organize, but, that it was allowed. (Remember, you won't have a room until later in the day, but, you can check in early in the morning--I think that was what they said I had to do...we didn't end up going, so, I don't remember precisely.)

I have ressies at Chef Mickey's at six pm one night of our trip. I'm just wondering the best way to get to the Contemporary. Should I take a bus to the MK, then the monorail over? Or take the bus to the Animal Kingdom, then bus over to the Contemporary? Or take a bus to Epcot and transfer from Epcot? how much time should I allow to get there? Thanks in advance for your help....I am sooooooo excited!

To get to the CR, the bus to the MK is probably your best bet. You can just walk from the MK bus stop over to the CR and take the elevator up to the 4th floor.

But the a bus to DHS or DAK and then on to the CR is not a bad option either. In our experience, the buses for the CR and Polynesian come rather quickly at DHS with a bit more of a wait at DAK. Perhaps ask anyone waiting at the AKL bus stop which buses have been by lately and judge from there.

Do not go to Epcot. From there you would need to take the monorail to the TTC, transfer to the resort monorail and then stop at the Polynesian, GF and MK before finally stopping at the CR. If you were headed to the Polynesian, that is a reasonable route. Not so for the CR.

I just tried emailing AKL IPO to ask about this and the email was returned to me marked "delivery failed." I used this address from the front page: wdw.aklodge.concierge@disney.com

Is that incorrect? If so, can someone please give me the correct email? Thank you!

Happy planning!!

we have booked a standard view room and we are trying to figure out where would be the best place to request. Its just two adults and we are not particularly fussed about the size of our bed! we would ideally love a savannah room and have heard there are substandard savannah rooms- what sort of room numbers are these?

we are trying to avoid seeing parking lots and bus routes so any areas avoiding these would be great!

how do i make requests?

I just changed my resort to AKL 2 days ago and all they said was
available for my package type (Free dining) was the Standard View Room
but I'm hoping whenever I check in I can ask if any Pool Views are available.
Pool View only cost an extra $5.00 per night and some of the pictures
of what the view are like are very nice compared to the standard views.
I'm not sure I will be able to get it but it's worth the chance of asking.

Last visit, we were on the zebra trail, pool view and on the same level as the lobby. What floor were we on? I want to request it this time around. Thanks!

I had the same concerns - so I booked a Pool View room - only about $10 more a night and close to the restaurants, lobby, etc. Worth the $$ ...

to make a request just call Disney and ask for the request to be added to your reservation. If you have booked through a travel agent, they will have to call Disney.

I think you can't really make a request for a certain place to avoid the parking lot or the busses. I think that is generally what most standard view rooms look out to. There are a few standard view rooms in other locations as well, but I think they are scattered around. But I think it would be helpful to request 4th floor as this would mean you are higher up and you would have a less direct view of the street and look more over it.

As PPs recommended - if it is available, get a pool view room, it is not much more per night, but has much better views!

We have a "pool view" room booked for our stay at the end of the month, and I was trying to decide the best floor/wing to make a request. I have read throughout the boards that Zebra Trail has both pool & savannah rooms; however, when I asked while making my ressie, the CM told me that Zebra Trail has no pool view rooms. Can anyone confirm this from experience? Does anyone have a specific floor/room/section that they loved when staying pool view? Any advice would be great!

I stayed twice in a pool view room on Zebra trail, just try again with another CM! :goodvibes

We are considering taking our first day at WDW and just sticking around the resort. If its warm enough I will pack our suits in a carry-on. I know we can change at the restrooms pool side so that wont be an issue. BUT will there be towels at the pool to use? Anybody else ever done this on check in day? I dont imagine we will be able to get into our room right away(checkin in around 1-2pm) and I know our luggage will still be in transit. It just seems a shame not to familiarize and take it all in. Its our first stay deluxe and the AKL is just beautiful. We have 6:30 ADR's that night at Boma and Im sure we will have hit Mara and the pool bar as well this day! keeping fingers crossed the weather is 80 and sunny! Nothing sounds better than lounging pool side with a fancy drink while my rugrats splash amd make merry. pixiedust:

Yes, there are plenty of towels at the pool.

At that hour your room might even be ready. Good idea to pack the suits in a carryon.

Lots of towels ... you don't bring your room towels to the pool.

There's also a playground and savannah viewing area by the pool ... and check the list of daily activities ... you may change your mind about the pool ...

But you have a decent chance of getting into your room by 1-2 pm ...

Eat light - you don't want to be anywhere near "full" for dinner at Boma ...
