We will be staying again in October of 2008. Unlike others, my favorite Savannah is Uzima, I can't remember what trail, but I plan on requesting it again. Will there be any "construction" views there?

Also, will any of the new restaurants be open by then? My family just hates Boma, although breakfast is okay.

Nope, no construction on that side. Only on the Sunset Savannah side.

On construction "stuff": We're in 5525, on Zebra Trail, facing the Arusha savannah. We can see the cranes in the distance (which might bother some, not us) and I've VERY distantly heard backup noises when out on my balcony eary in the morning when it's quiet, but other than that...NOTHING.

I doubt the new restuarants and amenities will be open by Oct '08. Kidani is slated to open in '09, currently. Talking to some people here, there is SOME feeling we'll see it open by "late '08", but I'm not sure if October is "late" enough. They seem to think November or December. To be CLEAR...that's what some of the staff at AKL think based on how quickly construction went here and is going on, now, at Kidani. NOT any sort of revised "official" info. We'll see.

Someone asked about alchol choices. I have good news and bad news.

The good news is that Zawadi and The Mara BOTH have pretty extensive African wine selections, in a variety of price ranges. We've tried a couple and they're good. They also have a "standard" selection of more common reds and whites..though nothing exceptional.

The beer selection, quite frankly, is anemic. Bud, Bud Light, Carona, Heineken, and Sammy light (all in bottles) and bud in cans. Thats about it, though to be fair there are a couple of "empty" slots in both Zawadi and The Mara that might hold more...but they've been empty for a couple days now.

Unfortunately, I'm the only one in my family who "LOVES" AKL. I love the Savannah view and sitting out on my balcony. But the rest of my family (husband, son, and mother) LOVE Wilderness Lodge. We are already doing a split stay between Beach Club and either WL or AKL. We are going to the Halloween Party and Hoop De Doo, so WL makes sense, plus we all love the Whispering Canyon and hate, hate Boma, so in many ways, WL makes sense. Now, if I could only order in some Buffalo and Elk to graze outside my WL window, it would be perfect. I don't know what to do...I will miss the Savannah view so much, but everything else points to WL.

The missing beer selections were Miller light, Bass, and Coors light. The bass is in bottles, the other 2 in cans.

No african beers? Last May, I was able to get a bottle of one of the African beers at Mara.

Not currently. I did ask, and they said they often carry one....I think it began with a T. They DO have them at the 2 bars (Victoria Lounge and the Pool Bar).

In one of the old AKL threads there was a link to AKLGoofy's trip report that he did. It was all about what he did for his 10 year anniversary. I can't find the whole trip report and searching for his posts via user name doesn't work.

Can someone please help me? Actually you would be helping me help my husband with some ideas of all of the wonderful things he could do for me .... I mean us for our upcoming trip to AKV's. We will be staying concierge also for our 10 year anniversary.

(PS) I tried googling and I think that his sight has been disabled, but then again I am at work, so it may just be blocked from here.

I saw a post about amenities that will be in the new Villas section. What are these amenities and can everyone use them or just if you are staying in the villas? also, I've quickly read through this and thought I saw that construction should be done by early '09...is this correct? So if we are staying in August of '09 we should be construction free?

Can you catch a AKL bus from the TTC? We are eating dinner at Narcoossee's & wanted to know if we had to go back to MK to get the AKL bus or if we can go to TTC.

There is no direct bus from AKL to TTC (and back). I think there are actually no busses going to the TTC from any of the resorts. You will have to transfer at the Magic Kingdom, or if this is closed for the day, any other park that might still be open (including its evening EMH). An alternative might be taking a taxi. We paid 20 $ for a taxi to take us back after a meal at California Grill. Have a great meal at Narcoossee's!

My mother just booked AKL for 9/24 for 7 nights. I need to read thru this more, I'm a bit nervous about restuarants with my kids turning 5, turing 8 and 9 at time of travel? I'm going to request connecting rooms and bunks for one of the rooms? We'll see....my mom wanted to try something different and I do think the kids will enjoy the views of animals, pool and it sounds like there are alot of activities as well.

Just finalized my 3/1 through 3/8 club level booking and so excited
DH thinks we are going to CSR - guess I told him I was too cheap to spend the extra money..lol Hoping to keep it a surprise

I've booked a pool view room. Is it possible to get queen bed with bunks? or will that cost extra? I used a cast member discount and that wasn't one of the options.
