I've never stayed at an All Star Resort (never will), but we did a quick weekend getaway at the POP. Funny, even as I sit here and try, I do not remember being on the 4th fl! But it was the top fl and we were happy with the location - I did call ahead to request a room that was not blocked by the larger than life icons and the cm asked if I'd like a view of Illuminations.

Yep, edit would be good but I've no idea where I posted the POP inf..3rd or 4th fl ...does not matter much, I guess. If anyone requests that room they will quickly learn it is 4th fl! :) :)

FYI BaciBecky,

You can do a search on your userid. Select "show as posts" view. You can look at every post you've ever submitted.

So today after class, I met my mother at Pop, and we headed off to Epcot. As soon as we entered the queue for Epcot, bus 4793 pulled up.

At Epcot, we diddled around, and went to Japan for dinner at the Teppenyaki Dining room (pardon my spelling). We didn't have PS for an hour, but they took us early. Good thing too, because we timed it JUST right to miss all the rain :) Dinner was excellent... those chefs are just amazing. Our chef spelled out NFL in zuccini?, and was joking about that. Then he changed it to NFRK... we were all like, HUH? so he added two onions to spell NO FORK. It was great. Met some nice folks, too.

My mother was tired, and we've seen IllumiNations before, so we headed back to Pop. This is where we encountered our longest wait for a bus so far. We waited TWO WHOLE MINUTES before 4872 pulled up. Such an abomination, how dare they make us wait for so long.

Now Tyler, are you sure you're not exaggerating a bit. Being a bus driver and all. Two minutes.

Read quite a bit on how long people had to wait for the bus. Like five minutes or so.

7:45 we arrived... some hooligans were playing with wheelchairs in the bus lane... I wanted to flash my ID badge and look like an official and tell them to stop, but the bus then came at 7:47 and did that for me.

Hey everyone! We just got back from Pop at 4:00 this morning and had a GREAT time! Pulled the car out a little earlier than we had planned (due to Jeanne) much to my dismay- I actually cried and I'm almost 27 years old- I just couldn't bear to leave. Tyler, I looked everywhere for you on every bus. I didn't know you were on vacation. It looks like we were at the same parks as you around the same times. I probably stood right beside you in the bus line and didn't even know it. Keep your eyes open for a trip report everyone. I'll get one posted as soon as possible :)

SRUAlmn,

So glad you had a wonderful vacation - how long where you there? What did you like about the POP and which building where you in, what fl, what view etc??

Thanks and Glad you are home safe and sound!!

Hi all...I have been reading these pages over and over and still haven't gotten through it all! We are 2 familes of 4 staying at Pop Dec. 17-22nd. We have requested the 50's section, just don't know which building and room location to request. The kids want to face the inside of the courtyard/pool, but which is the best. Would love to look at Lady!! Can anyone help?! Thanks!:earsboy: :earsgirl: pirate: princess:

We stayed in the 50's building last Feb - we were on the 4th fl facing the lake and could see Illuminations every night!

If the kids would like that then ask for a room near 2456 in the 50's building - if they would rather be looking toward the pool & Lady and Tramp icons then have a look at this map and you can try to request 50's building, facing whatever you prefer!

Good luck!!

If your goal is to look at lady, then I suggest courtyard side rooms in the Tramp building. rooms 61-72 should be on the side where lady is looking towards yoiu, even though she is looking down.

We were there from Friday, Sept 17-Saturday, Sept 25. We had actually considered staying the night of the 25th too because they were going to extend our discount rate if we wanted to, but due to the approaching hurricane we decided we better get out of there early on Saturday. More about that later in my trip report :) We were in the 70's section room 0402 which was on the 4th floor. When we checked in I was a little disappointed that we did not get a King room. We are both really tall and not so slender and we actually slept separately for the first 2 nights because it was more comfortable. However, we ended up loving our location. We were SO close to the elevators and bus stops (if you take the back way) and as soon as we opened our door each morning, there was the giant Mickey phone right across from us. If we walked out our door and looked to the left we also had a great view of the lake. We both agree that our favorite part of Pop was that it was a value resort at a value price, but with the amenities of a moderate. :Pinkbounc

how are the beds as far as comfort goes?

I am scared being a value resort they are hard and you can
feel all the springs??

we are trying to decide if we want to stay at POP in March??

any advice welcome.
:)

We slept fine at the POP - they might have better beds since it is a new resort.

The only thing I did not like was that the sheets were not changed daily - although this can be requested. When I arrive at the GF this Wed I am going to request clean sheets every day even if is only 3 nights. I'm on vacation!!

The rooms are small, but we did fine, enjoyed the stay and the savings!

As far as the beds, I think you feel differently on any bed you sleep on that is not your own. With that said, we were usually so tired every single night that I could have slept on the floor just fine. We had no problems with beds at any resort.

Well folks, I just got back home from my stay at Pop Century, and YAAAAY, I now have power.

Spending nearly 40 hours in a room with my mother wasn't exactly the best way to spend her birthday or my vacation, but it was the best we could do.

Saturday night, I had planned on taking her to Artist's Point at Wilderness Lodge. Because of the hurricane, they were serving buffet style, which meant the food was not nearly as good as it was supposed to be.

When we got back to Pop, they had characters in the lobby to entertain the guests since the parks closed early. They also put movies on three of the channels.

Saturday night, I kept hearing that infernal BANG when people slam thier doors on the slider bar. I spoke with my neighbors, and they had no idea of the impact. Once they knew, they did stop.

Aside from that, I never heard anything except I could slightly hear a flush here and there, but since I could hear that in my house, I never really noticed it. But the most important part, I never even knew there was a hurricane blowing right outside my window.

After the storm, the food court reopened, and characters came out to the lobby to meet with folks. The front desk was fully staffed to handle the many guests who needed to extend thier stays.

All said and done, I enjoyed my stay with the exception of the whole hurricane thing. Didn't wait long to check in, for my luggage to arrive, or for any buses. Room was great, and COLD. In fact, my mother commented that the room was too cold for her. (Keep in mind, I joke that my mother must be participating in a cryogenic experiment, thats how cold she keeps the house)

Good you and your mother had a nice vacation. Relatively speaking. Could have been worse.

When you went to Everything Pop, did the guests seem to be taking it well or were a lot of them (mostly adults) pacing around thinking "Why now?!, after all that planning and finances"?

As with all Moms, Mother Nature should never be unrespected and underappreciated, it just shows she cares.

Okay, enough with the morals.

So Tyler, during your Pop days, when a guest requests a certain room during check-in how popular were the corner rooms?

Here is my opinion regarding the comfort of the beds. The first night when we went to go to sleep I said- ick, these beds are kind of hard. My DBF loved it- I'm more of a squishy bed kind of person. But let me tell you, I had no trouble sleeping at all. I have a feather bed at home, so of course it felt harder than that in comparison, but I slept like a baby every night.
