Yo, Tyler!

Looking at some Pop pictures I had a thought. I know, scary huh.

Anyway, I just posted a thread asking what Pop Warner is. You don't have to answer that part. Someone wil answer that thread... I hope.

My question is: You mentioned that the All Stars resorts are designed for big groups and Pop is not. If I recall Pop has 30 +/- check-in/out stations. That is a lot, how many do the All Stars have or do they deal with large groups a different way?

Not sure how many stations each All-Star has... my guess is 15-20.

However, the All-Stars have a Group Check-In Facility, separate from the front desk area.

I just booked this hotel for me and my DS-12 and DD-5. Hubby can't come. Last minute plan and I am not telling the kids until we leave for the airport. :)
Can anyone help me find the menus for the foodcourt?
What is the most economical way to eat for the 3 of us? This not our main vacation and I need to be careful with the spending.
I am not paying for preferred so where should I request a room?
How late will the pool be open June 17th to the 22nd? Anything else we should know? We are staying 5 nights but only getting he 4 day hopper. What day should we avoid the parks and stay around the pool?

Tyler, thanks for the quick answer!

I've learned so much info on this and other threads that now I'm asking pointless, non-important questions.

Thanks again!!!

lomillerin,

Hi, I'm not Tyler, obviously! But, maybe I can answer some of your questions. We were in the 50's section at the end with a lake view which we considered an excellent place. Some of the 60's rooms (preferred) actually seemed to be a longer walk from food court/bus stops than us, so I'm glad I didn't pay for that! Maybe request a pool-view 50's room in the Lady or Tramp building? Tramp is building 3, not sure what building # Lady is, but is right across the pool from Tramp. That would put you close to the bowling pin pool for your kiddos, and still not a long walk from the food court.

I would say Quick and Casual Vouchers would be a good deal for you, but you are going so soon you wouldn't have time to get them! I think you'll be fine, though. Your DD can get kid's meals (pretty cheap), and unless your son or you is a big eater, you can share meals with him. My DD12 and I did this a lot! At the food court, one of us would go get a personal cheese pizza, while the other got cheese fries, and there was plenty to share. We each had a refillable mug, so drinks were no problem. At the parks, the burgers and fries, etc. are large portions also and easily shared. At places like Cosmic Ray's at MK, you could get a double burger and buy an extra bun (about $0.80) then you'd each have your own to make the way you like it at the toppings bar.

Bring your own water and this cuts the costs of drinks in the parks dramatically! Some of us brought bottled water each day, and some of us had drink holders big enough to put ice in and just added tap water. Any of the counter service restaurants will also give you ice water for free. Better for you than soda, too.

You can eat bagels, muffins, cereal and milk, or whatever you like in your room for breakfast. We did this every day with the exception of the 2 days we had character breakfasts and check-out day. It cuts breakfast costs way down!

The pools were open until midnight, I believe. The signs say 9 or 10 PM. (I forget which), but that is just the hours that a lifeguard is on duty. The pools are actually open later than that, and earlier in the morning, too.

I would suggest Saturday, the 19th, be your non-park day, or at least your non-Magic Kingdom day! MK seems to be the busiest park EVERY DAY to me, but Saturdays are outrageous!

Hope this helps and hope you have a GREAT time! I just got back and I'm jealous of you already! heehee

Here's another one that just entered my brain. The Aliens must have zapped me with something.

:space:

Anyway, Tyler, if I recall guests at All-Stars can use the same mug at any of the three food courts. Do you think when the Vintage Years opens up that guests at the Classics can stroll over the bridge and use the drink fountain there?

Thanks mickey58729! I meant to mention the menus link also, but got so long-winded about everything else that I forgot!!

In April we stayed in 6416 (the 70's facing the lake). It was aminutes from everything except parking lot. But once we parked, we never went to the car until we left.

Love this thread. I have tried to read each and every post. I'm getting very excited about our upcoming trip!:Pinkbounc

My question is does anyone know if there is a closing time for the laundry facilities or are they accessible 24 hours a day? TIA:D

Yes actually the only two things that never close at Disney's Pop Century Resort are the Front Desk and The Laundry Facilities. Any other question fire away, and have a Magical Day! pirate:

Tyler,
We were there in December a few days after the official opening and will be returning in July. What is your position there? It would be neat to meet someone we feel so close to after reading this thread.

I work Front Office... this position includes Luggage Dispatcher (back office) which is where I spend most of my time. I can also be found as a Luggage Runner (outside, under the Porte Cochere) and lastly, inside on the Front Desk.

I love this thread! So much great information.

Question - Because the day we arrive / check-in is Regular Season and the very next day begins Value Season we have 2 reservations. There is a chance that we may have to switch rooms and we're okay with that since it means saving money. What I wonder though is if we do have to switch rooms are we able to have Luggage (forgot the full title, sorry) move the luggage for us? We would be leaving POP early so we can catch EMH at MK and not returning until after Wishes (starts at 8:30).

Thanks in advance for your help!!

We should arrive around noon on Saturday. If I have my wits about me after getting up at 4 am and probably not sleeping well the night before, I will try and remember to say "HI! " I can't wait to see the resort and begin our stay!!

Hi Tyler!

WOW! So nice of you to share all this wonderful, helpful info with us. For all of us Dis junkies you are a God send!:worship:

As you can see from my countdown we will be joining you soon. We have 8 in our group and have 2 stand. rooms booked. What rooms do you suggest we try to reserve? We prefer quiet rooms, maybe facing the lake, possibly connecting rooms, non-smoking. What # would I call to res. I'm calling from Canada...any toll free #'s? When we booked I used 1 -800- 828-0228. Can I call this # with my room requests?

Thanks a million!:cheer2:

Sandra

I faxed my request about a week ahead of time. We had no problems getting what we requested. The 70's (Blg # 6) on the 4th floor was quiet. and facing the Lake.

This is not a question about PC in particular but it's for all you people who have been a few times. I am (being a typical female) worried about the humidity and my hair. It tends to be curly anyway and I have to use straightners at each wash. Can anyone recommend a product or something that I should use to help this or do I just resign myself to Monica (friends) hair for 3 weeks and wear hats all the time.

Thanks

Dear Kazza25,
Please don't worry about things like that, you will be at WDW:D
Nobody worries about their looks overthere... Just enjoy your trip!
