HOLY COW!!!!!! this is a HUGE thread!!!! only took me a few hours for three days to get through it all :bounce: :jester: :D
Thanks Tyler and Joshua and the many others for anwsering the questions on here.... I just booked POP for my first trip back since my College Program ended 2 years ago. now I just gotta wait 109 days... but who is counting

So here is my question since I never stayed "onsite" before (or atleast booked a room for myself): I forgot to make my requests for a non-smoking room and a king bed while making the reservation (i guess i was tooooo excited). Should I call CRO up asap and ask for it? should I wait two weeks out? or just wait until i check in???

hope everyone that is going down is enjoying the sun while there is about 3-4 feet of snow still on the ground here....

-Chad

You can put in your requests through CRO at any time, but remember, they are just requests, and they may not always be able to be granted.

A few notes about King Beds... There's only a few per building. If you really want a king bed, be ready to be flexible with what decade you get placed into.

Also, about half of the king bed rooms are disability accessible rooms, meaning they have a roll in shower instead of a tub. The other half have a standard bathroom. If you absolutly need the tub, make sure to specify that.

This a awesome post both in information and length!!!! Another well deserved thank you to Tyler and all the CM's who have answered tirelessly all the questions ya'll are wonderful, Mr. Disney would be proud that his dream lives on in you still!!:earsgirl: This is my first post here I stumbled upon this sight and it made me confirm my trip to Pop Century!!!! We are staying in the 1950's area building 1 (I HOPE!!!!) and I was wondering where the Lady & the Tramp icons are? Thanks for any info and humoring my long post!!! ::MinnieMo

Building 1 is Lady, and Building 3 is Tramp. They are the main center icons, across from the Bowling Pin pool. There is also a lil Doghouse in the center of the courtyard.

Thanks for those great aerial photos, Stitch!
We've reserved adjoining non-smoking rooms for 7 nights for the end of this month. :Pinkbounc
We've reserved preferred rooms ($10 upcharge for each room)and have requested king and dbl/dbl (to accommodate dh, me, and kids-ages 8,5,&2). We currently have 70s bldg. listed as our requested section because someone said it's convenient to both the food court and parking. I now understand that all of the preferred rooms are in the 60s.
So it seems that we should remove the request for the 70s section since it's not preferred, right? Are we better off in the 60s? Do preferred rooms usually get a better view? Is the 60s section prettier or better themed? Should we switch to "non preferred" and still request the 70s?
By the way, we won't be arriving until 10pm so we plan on calling the Pop directly that morning and confirming our requests.
Thanks,
Indecisive in Illinois:crazy:

The Preferred buildings are the 1960's area. They are the closest buildings to Classic Hall which is the lobby, food court, and bus stop. Because of thier convenience, they are $10 extra per day per room.

If you have paid for the Preferred section, you are guaranteed a room in the 1960s, no request required. CRO should not have let you request the 1970s section, since they are not preferred buildings.

If you switch to a non-preferred building, you can request the 1970s, but you will not be guaranteed any specific decade, especially by checking in late at night.

My advice would be to keep your Preferred reservation, and stay in the 1960s. One thing to note... Half of our rooms are connecting, so that shouldn't be a problem to get, but there are only a limited amount of rooms with a king bed. It should also be noted that some of the king bed rooms will have a disability accessible shower (basically, just a standard shower, no tub) instead of a standard tub/shower combo. All of the double rooms will have the standard tub/shower combo.

Joshua reguarding your message to momoftwins do you mean that ther are no non-smoking rooms in the 60's? We have requested a prefered room, non-smoking. I have ashma and my son gets migrains a smoking room might trigger either problem.

What he means is that there are smoking optional blocks within those area. But the majority of them are non-smoking.

We are staying at pop for 3 nts and then GF for 2 in March. In reading Tyler's original post about lugguge assistance it is said that luggage can be picked up or dropped off without my being there. If I want to have my luggage moved to GF, can I call the night before and request Luggage service and have them transfer it to GF and then recall in the morning to confirm and then leave my stuff in the room?? I know everything would work out fine, but god forbid no one shows up and gets my stuff and the cleaning ladies find it still there and it never arrives at the next resort. What could I do then?

All you have to do is touch the Luggage button on your phone the night before the transfer. Let them know you're transferring over to the GF. The next morning, just make sure your bags are packed, and leave inside the room, by the window. We will then come by, and pick them up. Transfers usually get to the new resort between 12:30-2:00, depending on how many resorts we have to go to.

When you get to your new room at the GF, give Bell Services a call, and they will bring your luggage right up.

Do yourself a favor and clearly mark your bags. Mistakes do happen no matter how careful the CMs are.

All of our transfer bags get large (4x7, give or take) neon yellow or neon green transfer tags, with name and both resorts on the tags.

Has anyone used an air mattress in the rooms at Pop Century? We have 2 teenagers, a boy and girl and were wondering if one of them would be able to use an air mattress. There is still only 4 people in the room. Tyler are we allowed to do this?:earsgirl: :earsgirl: Thanks

And I thought my teens were the only ones that would not sleep in the same bed.

My almost 13 and almost 18 (boy and girl) will not sleep in the same bed either. We have booked 2 rooms.

We didn't use one, but I think you are going to have a hard time using an air mattress on the floor. The room is quite small. I believe at the All Stars you could push the beds together. However, at Pop Century, you can't move furniture around because they are anchored down. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
