My sister bought me Facing Future by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole years ago. It's just gorgeous music.

Some of you have mentioned bringing Hawaiian music to listen to listen to in the rooms during your stay - I love the music that plays at the Poly and asked if there was a CD while we were there. Can anyone recommend any sites to get some similar Hawaiian music - or just sites you like in general?

I have the music loops from the Poly, but my file hosting site is down for repairs. I will see if I can find a different one when I get home.

Does anyone know how long it take to get from the Poly to the WL using Disney transportation? We have ADR for Mickey's backyard BBQ our first night.

I am thinking it might be best to go to MK and take a boat to WL if that is possible. But if there is a faster way I would love to hear it.

Thanks

Going to the MK and getting the boat launch to Fort Wilderness Campground will be your best bet for getting to Mickeys Backyard BBQ.

I don't remember seeing a playground at the Poly, and we walked all over the resort...

As for the water play area, it's basically a little round concrete area with some water spouts that make water shoot out from the ground. Judging by all the little kids playing there, it's quite popular, but less crowded than the volcano pool. It's tucked away behind some shrubs, but it's kind of between the volcano pool, the Hawaii building, and the beach.

Hope this helps!:)

Is the concrete slippery when it gets wet?? I'm just curious if I should be packing water slippers for my little guy. :confused3 My DS would LOVE this and I'd feel better. My mil doesn't swim and ds LOVES the water so this would be a good distraction for him. We were hoping to do some thrill rides one or two afternoons while they relax at the resort.

I would bring water slippers, the concrete although not smooth can be slippery. I saw a child at DTD take a pretty good spill at the one there.

Definitely bring water shoes -- it did look slippery!

...and as always it was looking spectacular!

I've posted the first third of my resort pics below...more to come in the next day or so.

Nice pictures Ronald Duck! It does look as lovely as ever. . . :)

Great pic's Ronald Duck. OK, I am a planner and we (DH and I) finally decided to give in and try the Poly in 2011. 2010 is already set as we are at the CR/BC. This will be a surprise for our DS13 who has always wanted (ever since he was 2) to stay at the Poly. The Poly really didn't appeal to us but after reading this thread and getting quite a bit of information, we caved in.:lmao: Ok, now I just have to keep my mouth shut for 655 days.:scared1:

Gorgeous pics indeed! Everything looks so lush, tropical and relaxing. :cloud9:

I wasn't in love with the Poly but DH really wanted to stay there & my two boys wanted BC/SAB, sooooooo... we are getting the best of both with a split stay!!! :cool1: The Poly seems like the perfect way to "end" our vacation.:lovestruc

IMHO you couldn't do any better than BC/SAB the first half of your trip and the Poly the second half:goodvibes

Ronald Duck -- thank you for posting the great photos of the Poly -- they make me want to go back there so badly!:goodvibes

The pics are beautiful!!:goodvibes Thank you for sharing!

Only 43 more days until I can see it up close in person :woohoo:

Gorgeous photos. I was so tempted to stay at the Poly this trip, but I really want to try AKL. I guess I can't complain, since I'm staying at both next year. And we'll see the Poly when we go to Ohana for breakfast with Stitch.
And after posting about Brother Iz, I looked for it to load it onto my PC and my ipod and it's missing. Found the case, but no CD. Maybe I took it to work.

loperella this is how we feel as well. We aren't in love with the Poly either but we do love to go there to eat and look around. Our DS has been asking us for 11 years now to stay at the Poly and we just couldn't bring ourselves to do it.

I am not a fan of the split stay but we are doing it next year. If all goes well than we might do a split stay like yours but in reverse with the Poly first and YC or BC second. If it doesn't go well than it will be the Poly the whole time.

I never had a chance to report about my first stay at the Poly in June. So I thought I would just put this here.

First I have to say my DH and I would always make fun of the Poly saying it reminded us of when the Brady Bunch went to Hawaii. :lmao: We had no desire to stay there at all.

So when booking our June trip I kept reading all these great things about it and saw the huge following the Poly has. So I figured what the heck, we should just try it. We are DVC'ers and had no points to use so we thought it would be a perfect chance to try a new resort.

Boy am I glad we did. I cannot even begin to explain how much we loved it! Check in was a breeze. Every CM we encountered was super friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable. The resort itself was in great shape. Captain Cook's was surprisingly great food and we ate there a lot. We also had dinner at Kona Cafe(which we have been to before) and it was great as usual. The pool was fun and great with zero entry. My favorite part of our stay had to be just lying on the hammock with my DH while our kids played in the sand!:lovestruc Perfect! The monorail to the parks was great too, so convenient.

I would tell all who have trips coming up that you will not be disappointed with the POLY. It is fantastic!
