We stayed in Tuvalu second floor on our last stay (theme park view). We did not miss having a balcony or patio. I could be wrong but I think our room was slightly bigger due to not having either. When we opened the sliding doors there wasn't a balcony hanging above and there wasn't a patio sticking out past the building. If the rooms are the same size, wouldnt there have been a balcony sticking out about us?

Does Lapu Lapu have coconut in it?

And when you guys talk about having pineapple .... do you mean like just plain pineapple? or is there something else to it?:confused3

I can't wait til our trip!!

Princess,

In club level there is a lounge that provides little snacks and fresh fruit throughout the day. those that miss the pineapple are veteran club level guests as time goes by it seems that little things have been cut back, as far as the food items they provide. Its a little thing that as repeat guests is a very noticeable and is a bit frustrating. prices go up and offerings go down!!

as far as the lapu lapu I dont know what is in it but it is wonderful! they also have a coconut drink! gotta try them both!

and you have nothing to worry about Poly is a beautiful resort! :lovestruc

Well guys, I think I just came up with an idea as to why the last week of February is completely booked except a few GV rooms (when every other hotel has every category of room available). The CM I talked to said it was very strange, and that even if it was a grand gathering or a conference, she doubted that all of the lagoon, theme park, suites and concierge rooms would be fully booked for a week with average attendance. So...drum roll please... :idea:I think that there is a celebrity who bought out all the rooms so it will be a semi-private visit. What do you think? There's another thread on the dis right now about what celebs have been spotted around the resorts, and it got me thinking. I just can't understand how all the rooms disappeared in one day

My sister was there the week before us, and her family of 5 went through 28 ponchos. We didn't need one. The two days we had afternoon rain, it was while we were getting ready for dinner.

Aside from that, it was predictable August weather-- hot and sticky. The misters helped a lot!!!

Does anyone know what the crowd levels were supposed to be? We hit rope drop just about every day (10 minutes late twice:rolleyes1) and those early mornings were incredible!!! We didn't wait more than 10 or 15 minutes for anything!!!

We were out of the parks most days by about 1, then back for 6 pm ADRs most nights.

.

Those are your own magic words -- you were there for rope drop, and out by 1. LOL :wizard: That is exactly when to go! Crowds are manageable, although, i give you props for being there til 1pm during august -- no way could i have!! I was swimming by then! LOL

Parks defiantely get crowded more as the day goes - especially if they have the p.m. emh - we tried Epcot and MK both on pm emh nights.
Well, Epcot wasn't too bad - typical long waits for TT and Soarin', but MK ..... :scared1: We went to MK on Sat. 8/8, and Sun. 8/9, both nights were :scared1::scared1: I actually left MK Sat. night feeling claustrophobic, waaaayyyy tooo many people!!!!! It was insane. Sunday during emh wasn't much better - but didn't seem as bad as Sat. Maybe i was just in a better state of mind.. :confused3
I just think iam done with p.m. emh. I will stick with getting up early and going..

as far as the lapu lapu I dont know what is in it but it is wonderful! they also have a coconut drink! gotta try them both!

Had one on Monday - the Lapu Lapu is a mix of Bacardi rum, and pineapple juice - with a floater of Bacardi 151. I guess it's supposed to be pretty strong -- but i took my time with mine, and didn't even get a buzz. However, the price tag is strong - $13.
Did it once, glad i did, but won't do another.. there were other drinks on there that sounded awesome too - like the magical punch or something to that effect.. My mom had that - loved it!! Not sure if that was the name though.. will have to find out. That was a fruity based one.

I don't think (someone please correct me if i am wrong) that the second floor rooms are any bigger- as the balcony / patio would be outside, therefore not affecting the actual room size on the inside.. I think they are the same square footage. I would think if you were on the second floor the balcony would be hanging out above you :confused3 Now i am all confused too.. :rotfl:

I know when we were on the first floor, and i looked up, the kids above us were equal to our sliding doors -- so i believe they all line up.

My thoughts, exactly!

I third that!!!! I missed it - along with that yummy caramel dip!!!! Somehow the GF got our pineapple, so... who's with me to sneek over there and take it back?? :lmao:

Perhaps we could bring it back to the Poly lounge and say "Uh, Excuse me, but i think this got put out at the wrong resort lounge...." LMAO!!

We were just at the GF in CL last week, and I honestly don't remember seeing pineapple there (and there definitely wasn't any dipping sauce). I don't think they moved it there. They probably just eliminated it. :confused3

The GF CL food, in all honesty, was better than the Poly's at breakfast and snack time (plus they have tea time), but I really liked the evening appetizers and the views from the Poly lounge.:)

Where is all the pineapple they scoop out for those Lapu Lapus? :lmao:

One of my favorite moments from our trip in December was chilling out listening to Kaleo in the Tambu Lounge after a full day at Epcot. I enjoyed a Lapu Lapu and DH a glowtini...The bartender even made DD a virgin glowtini.
It was nice to experience but those three drinks cost more than a counter service meal for the three of us so I don't see having another.

I am looking forward to trying the Pina Colva that has also been discussed.:dance3:
And then there is the yummy rum punch in the CL lounge...heads will roll if that get axed :lmao:

This will be our first stay at the Poly. What is a Lapu Lapu? It sounds like something I MUST try!:goodvibes

This is my wife enjoying one this February. A bit spendy but fun and good!

You could always get a "Back Scratcher" like my dad and I did a couple years back.

Poly-Ohana-Backscratcher.jpg

So let's review the alcoholic choices at the Poly.

Lapu lapu-served in a pineapple, made with citrus and rum
Back scratcher-
Pina Colava-

Who can fill in the blanks and add others that I am missing. I have just 9 days to decide!

You can go "old school" and order the Lava Flow--it is a pina colada mixed with strawberry as opposed to the Pina Colava which is raspberry. ;)

Personally, I can't stand the Backscratcher--my husband and I ordered one each one evening years ago (based upon DIS recommendation). Let's just say we should have checked the ingredients before ordering--neither of us can stand the taste of whiskey--it was a VERY expensive learning experience. :lmao:

Whiskey! Ugh...I am glad you told me that. Although I am a little turned off at the actual backscratcher in the drink :rotfl: I think if I tried that I would be spending a day, or two of my vacation in bed recovering! :rolleyes1

Ok doing the happy dance ......10 day count down till we leave!

look us up when we get there! we will buy you guys a drink! we can talk about the philadelphia Eagles choice to sign Vick!! we will be there 27th through 5th

A giant THANK YOU to everyone who made a suggestion for my next favorite drink at Disney World!

As you know, my beloved Leisure Suit has been retired, and I’ve long needed a replacement so that I can stop bugging bartenders to flip through their rolodexes.
