Okay I know my trip is a long time yet, but I am so excited! Tomorrow I am going to pay the deposit on our GVCL stay for Dec 2010. It makes it seem more real to me.

Help me, I know this is a dumb question, but what is GVCL? I'm new to this thread... still have my fingers crossed for a Dec. Poly trip. Thanks!

garden view club level - that's ok - you will pick up very quickly!!! welcome!!!

Hi fellow Poly fans! :wave2: I will be staying at the Poly for the first time in a little over a month, and we are so excited! :woohoo: I posted in this thread under my sister's username when we first booked our trip, but I wanted to check back in with my new account.

We have a garden view room booked, and have put in a request for Tokelau, since I've read here that it has nice views and we would like to be close to the TTC. Although based on all I've read about the Poly CL, I seem to be thinking a bit too seriously lately about splurging and upgrading us!

We have a breakfast and a dinner booked at 'Ohana (we've had dinner there before, but are looking forward to trying the breakfast for the first time :goodvibes). I also just tried to book us an early dinner at Kona for a night that we'll be attending MNSSHP, but there was no availability (we're well into the 90 day ADR mark, so I'm not surprised). I'll probably keep checking back periodically to try to get an ADR, but has anyone had any luck getting into Kona for a late lunch or early dinner during free dining?

Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself since I'm sure I'll be checking in on this thread quite a bit before my trip, and look forward to sharing my experience when I return from my trip.

I've had Kona for a late lunch (around 4 PM) twice during free dining and didn't have a problem getting in. Maybe try calling and just see if the have any time at all. We also just stopped in one time and got in right away with no problem. There's never a wait there it seems. I love Kona at lunch, I'll be eating there my next Poly stay this winter too!

Just a heads up, but I think Ohana's breakfast really went down hill. We used to love it, but last year when we went it wasn't that great. There were 3 of us, the service was awful, they only brought 1 item each (3 waffles, 3 biscuits, total) so we had to ask for more, and the waitress brought us out 2 extras of each....but there's 3 of us! We will give that one a year or two break 'til we return for breakfast (We are hooked on Tusker House for breakfast these days anyway).

We had no problem getting into a lunch at Kona without a reservation but it wasn't during free dining and wasn't a late lunch. If you upgrade, they might be able to get you in for something before MNSSHP.

Thanks for posting back Kim.

Do they sell pineapple at Capt. Cooks? I promised her and I will never hear the end of it.

I guess I will give the coffee a shot and if not I am an earlier riser than the rest so I will make the needed trip to Kona for my fix.

Glad I'm not the only one who is always pushing my family to get ready and make rope drop. My DH is just a very slow mover in the am.

Glad you had a nice trip.

Please tell me they still have pineapple in the evening with the carmel! I will be so bummed if they did away with that!

While there was no pineapple in the morning, it was available with caramel sauce in the evenings--at least it was served in May when we were there. :thumbsup2

Have just got back from a week at the Poly, I can see why you all love it so much, beautiful surroundings the the views over the lagoon to GF and the castle, watched the fireworks a number of times from the beach, and taking the launch to the MK was lovely. Our only complaint was the pool, not big enough really and people putting towels on the seats and then not using them, either because they were in the water or even worse had left the pool area altogether.

Welcome Back from your vacation Lizzy Lemon!

Thanks to both of you for the info on getting into Kona. I'll keep checking before we leave for our trip, but if we still don't have an ADR on the day we want it, we'll definitely try walking up. We've also got an ADR for a Tusker House breakfast for the first time this trip (I believe for the day after our 'Ohana breakfast is booked), so if our 'Ohana breakfast is a bust, I'll know I can look forward to Tusker House!

Hi, all! We have 13 days until we check into the Polynesian! I am getting so excited! I booked a year ago, so it's finally starting to feel real! I haven't been to the Polynesian (other than to eat) for about 8 years! My last few visits have been to the Wilderness Lodge. I feel like I've forgotten more than half of what I knew about the Polynesian.

As far as requesting a longhouse, I was thinking of Samoa and/or Tokelau. We stayed at Tokelau last visit, and we really enjoyed it. The location was fabulous, and the room was huge. We are a family of 4. Myself, my hubby (we are celebrating 15 years of wedded bliss...lol!), and our two boys (11 and 6). I know requests are just that. I'm not expecting anything.

Because we have been to the World quite a bit, we plan on spending more time than usual at the Polynesian - swimming and sightseeing. I really cannot wait!

I plan on reporting back on my fabulous stay! Thanks to all of you for this fabulous, informative threat!

I'm from Sussex County. Will be at the Poly too Aug. 23rd to 30th. We are celebrating our 10th anniversary. My girls are 7 & 9. Have a great trip!

Hi Lisa,

We will be there the same time and we are Neighbors (I am from LI, NY). I am so excited!

I called Mouse Fan Travel today and paid my $200 deposit on our Dec 2010 trip. We are so excited. I do realize my kids will have to birthdays before we go (they both are Nov babies) but it seems so much more real!

I wanted to subscribe so I don't miss any updates and say hello to all my Poly friends! :)

We will be at the Polynesian December 5th-13th and I can not wait.

I stayed at Poly many times with my parents when I was younger and my husband (he wasn't my husband then) stayed there on our first trip to WDW. This is all posted in my PTR but I'm posting it here too. Sorry! ;) I lost my Dad in January to cancer. Instead of traditional services he asked to be cremated and have his ashes divided between my mom and my siblings and that we each take them somewhere special to us. My place is Disney!!! I can't wait - I'm praying for some healing and Poly has to be the most perfect place to find it!:lovestruc

We will be there as well during that time! Leaving for the drive on the 24th. We can't wait also! Our first Poly stay. My DH had stayed there when he was a tween. During our last visit we ate at Kona and decided that we really "needed" to stay there next visit. ;) Have a great trip! :goodvibes

:welcome:

We stayed at the Poly last year at the same time and it was wonderful! I am so sorry about the loss of your Dad. I think that it is wonderful you are bringing him along!

We will also be at the Poly during this time. I think your choice of the Poly for your dad's ashes is wonderful. It really is a special place.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost both of my parents this year. 3 months and 18 days apart. Jan-May. I am on the same plane as your Dad. I want to be cremated and placed in certain places. I love that fact that your Dad wanted to be placed in special places that was about you and not him, that is so very awesome. Take grace in your dad.
