Glad you had such a nice trip.

Also do you know where's the best place to catch a bus to DTD? Oh and do busses, not pick up right at the POLY for the HS and AK parks, or do you have to go to the TTC or M/K to cath them? Thanks!

There are buses from the Poly to the AK and HS parks as well as to DTD. You can go to the TTC to get a bus to the parks if you wish, but there are buses right from the Poly

Don't forget there are no buses from the TTC - DTD, so the only bus option to get there is from the Polynesian.

We're currently booked in a GV view room at the POly for Nov 15 - 21. It'll be me, DH and three DS (6,4,1). We're been to Disney in the beginning of Dec and although it was fun, we found the holiday season at home to be too rushed. It just occurred to me the other day that the same might happen with this time period.

So I called Disney today to see if our 40% PIN Code had other travel dates available and it turns out we can stay Oct 25 - 31 for the same price. I was thrilled! Warmer weather. My birthday is that week. Mickey's Halloween party. Except, it's also my son's first grade class picture that week.

I am looking to spend most of the week at MK and EPCOT with one half day trip to HS to see the Power Rangers. I'd like to spend a good deal of time relaxing by the pool and would like the weather to be warm enough. I also don't want it to be so oppressively hot and crowded that my 14 month old will be uncomfortable.

So, for those who have been at the end of October, should I sacrifice my son's first grade class photo for Disney in October, or stick with our November dates?

Thank you all so much for your help!! :flower3:

As a father who raised 4 children, I would say sacrifice the photo..We have books and books filled with photos (most of which I photographed), along with videos which will make nice memories, but are hardly looked at now.. I think the memories of WDW are worth more than a photo of children he saw everyday for a year.

I haven't been at the end of October, but I would LOVE to! (I love Halloween - would love to attend MNSSHP!)
As far as the picture ... don't most schools have a day when they do retakes? (you know, a second chance for the kids who blinked or were having a really bad hair day). If yours does you could still at least get your son's individual photo. He wouldn't be in the group picture with all of his classmates, but he still might enjoy having the photo of all of his friends (regardless of whether he's in it). :confused3

Don't forget if you son is at school for the first picture, chances are he will be there for retakes. So, he can get it done that day instead.

We went the same week in October last year and thought it was great! The weather was warm (it did get cool at night and the night we went to MNSSHP was really cold!). It turned out thought that the days we were in the parks it was nice and warm and then our "off" time we had planned for swimming/searaycers was cool/cold....at least for us. So, my son was disappointed that he didn't get to swim or do the searaycers, but being only 3.5 at the time we didn't want to freeze him!! Also, we're from VA, so our definition of too cold to swim may be different from yours.

But, we loved that time of year and the average wait time we experienced for most things, was walk-on to 5 minutes.

P.S. My bday is that week too!! (29th)

Just finished watching Wishes from the Poly Beach! I could hear the soundtrack playing from somewhere but not sure where. Couldn't hear it very well where I was but had a great view. I think if I'm at the Poly again this trip at the same time as Wishes I may just watch them from my balcony and play the soundtrack on my iPhone :)

Oh, and maintenance must have fixed the slow drain on my tub. Today I had no problem with it. I've heard stories of people who put a request in for maitenance and had to call a few times before they showed. Glad that they were on the ball this time, even though the slow drain didin't bother me too much.

Just back from 8 great days at POFQ and now in full planning mode for our 1st stay at the POLY this Sept.
I have visited the Poly several times and eaten at Kona Cafe for breakfast. YUMMY!!!
Looking forward to the convenience of the boat to MK and the Monorail to MK and EPCOT. Plus it looks like a resort you can really relax at!
Thanks to all the posters who have already given me ideas of foods to try and activities at the resort.
Let the countdown begin!!!

Just booked 3 nights in Sept. in the Honeymoon suite with the 40% off pin code!!! YIPEE!!!:banana::banana:

I want to hear about the honeymoon suite! One day my DH and I would love to stay there for at least a week! Of course we would leave the kids with someone else for the week.

I have friends with an autistic son that cannot watch fireworks inside MK. He can watch at the beach without a problem. The finale is the loudest portion of Wishes.

PS*

If you can hear the Background Music playing near the beach before Wishes starts, then you will be able to hear the music for the fireworks.

SOOOOO Excited! My brother and his wife are coming with us!! :yay: I haven't seen them in years, so this is HUGE for me/us. There will be 5 adults in one room, but we should be ok, right? Some of my best memories growing up are with him at Disneyland/Disneyworld. None of us have ever stayed at the Poly before, we're all super excited. Sorry for the tangent, just had to share! :woohoo:

:cool1:Congrats! WDW is such a nice place for a reunion -- and the Poly is a great choice! The room is big enough, and the daybed looked big enough for me.:) It might be crowded in the bathroom, though...:rotfl:

The Poly is fantastic -- you'll love it there. The grounds are so pretty, the rooms are huge, and the restaurants are great! I hope you all have a fantastic time!:)

That is what I was hoping to hear!

I am getting excited! We are going back to the Poly in less than 8 weeks!!! :cheer2: Its our first summer trip ever, we've been in early December, September, October and April and have avoided the summers at all costs. My dd's birthday is at the end of July and she was begging to go to WDW for her birthday as we've gone for everyone else's so we are braving the heat and the crowds and going in the first week in August. :scared: I am a little scared of both but hopefully we will have a good time.

the last time we were at the Poly was for only 1 night in September 2007 and before that December 2006, which was amazing! We got unxpectedly upgraded from a Garden View to the Hawaii Club Level Magic Kingdom view! I almost fell over. We were running down the halls screamin our heads off. That was the best trip ever, totally made my dreams come true. :cloud9:

Anyway we LOVe the Poly, we visit and eat there on every trip and now I will be able to come "home" to the Poly each night. yay! Thanks for letting me share my excitement!!
