The *ALL NEW* Polynesian Resort FAQ thread - *APRIL 2009*

A couple of questions:

Does the Poly have the new refillable mugs or are they the same old Poly mugs?

Can you get a full sized pizza at the Poly or any of the Monorail resorts?

We are going this coming weekend and I skimmed through this thread for the information but didn't see anything. I appreciate any answers to these questions!:thumbsup2

Aloha Poly Peeps!

I just wanted my 500th post to be on the Poly board! :woohoo:

I hope everyone is doing well. I hope the trip reports keep coming. I am so happy we changed our trip. We have so much going on in the fall and nothing after the New Year so it will be the perfect time for us to vacation.

I ran my first 5K race of the "season" this morning and am getting ready for the Princess Half! I did pretty good considering it rained the entire time. :crazy2:

Happy Planning Everyone :wizard: :dance3:  :cool1:

They no longer have resort specific mugs. They are the same style at each resort! Sorry, I don't have an answer for the pizza question.

Congrats on your 500th post! And on your 5k! :cheer2:
I've toyed with the idea of doing the Princess Half, but I just don't know if I want to waste a day of my family's precious Disney time watching me huff and puff my way through a race (and probably half of the next day with me moaning and groaning trying to recover :rotfl:)

Oh yea, I am right there with you! But we are thinking of extending by two days for that reason!

I am all about goals when it come to running and this is one I have wanted to do for a while. The race is our last full day and then we will go home the next day so I will moan and groan all the way home...:lmao:

Got back last Sunday from our first ever visit at the Poly. We had a third floor room in Tokelau and LOVED it. Could see the fireworks from the balcony! Thought it was incredibly roomy and quiet.

Best part of staying there- watching the fireworks from a hammock with DDbaby sleeping on me and DD7 and DD4 playing in the sand. Nothing gets better than that.

Worst part- the food court :sad2:. They need to change that menu (with the excpetion of the Tonga Toast and Dole Whip, of course.)

We'll be staying there again!!!

Extending your trip ... hmmm, I never thought of that angle before. Interesting tactic to stretch out that Poly stay. I like it! :thumbsup2

Also smart putting the race at the end ... I'm going to have to give all of this some thought ... :scratchin

We are just back from our May 31- June 7 stay. I will do a trip report later.
We had a wonderful time at the POLY. It is a very magical place to stay. We were in room 2038 Tahiti, which is the last room on the 2nd floor- closest to the TTC. We had a beautiful view of the lagoon and of Space Mountain (but not a speck of the castle thanks to 2 trees). Although it is far from GCH, it is nice to be so close to TTC. Nice large room- 2 sinks.

We ate at O'hana, Chefs de France, Liberty Tree Tavern, 50's Prime time, Kona Cafe, Rose & Crown Pub, and Le Cellier. I must say they were all good. I think Kona was my favorite, and although O'hana has always been my favorite, it might be the first to drop off the list. (still good tho!) If you want to know any specifics- just ask!

You know, the only troublesome thing the whole week was this: PEOPLE- CONTROL YOUR CHILDREN!
EX: Children pouring out their drinks in Captain Cooks (on purpose) and parents walking off and leaving the mess.
Children hitting their parents and grandparents while they "count to 3".
Children charging the buses before people get off and NO ONE telling them to step back- the same with the elevators.
Children throwing fits and then getting exactly what they wanted!
The list goes on and on...

Now, before I get flamed- I have children (2 girls), I LOVE children (I'm a teacher), but I am very concerned about the future of our world when 3 - 9 year olds are completely in charge of the family....

This may be a stupid question, so please forgive me, have never stayed at the Poly before. There will be 5 adults in our room, and I've seen pics of the sofa, does it fold out futon style or something or is what you see what you get? Just curious, thanks......

Hi all, I can officially do online check in tomorrow but I am staying club level at hawaii building where I believe you check in - can I do online check in and will it get me in and out any quicker? Thank you

Due to a lot of complicated stuff (work/college etc) related, we have decided today to possibly move our April 2010 trip up to this October! I just had to share my excitement!:banana:
I'm a bit in panic mode right now because I like to plan things to death and this has thrown me a bit of a curve ball (although in a good way). We'll need to decide soon (good seat sale right now, our dates are still available etc) so tonight I am crazily researching things. :surfweb: I'm sure I'll have questions!

To BarleyJack: The sofa folds down and makes a pretty good (but smaller) twin size bed. We had a 23 year old sleeping in ours and he was comfortable.

Togrittyreid: I would definitely do Online Check-in. There was NO ONE in line and your package is already made up for you with all keys ready to go.

Yes, it does fold down to I believe a full size bed.

If you are staying Club Level they say it is really not necessary since they have a dedicated lounge.

I just returned from a 8 day stay at BC. I have the post trip blues which I am trying to remedy with planning my next trip. Thankfully my DH supports my WDW habit. Hello. My name is Ashley and I am addicted to Walt Disney World. There that part is out and on to my obsessive planning question.

My family will be staying at the Poly for the 1st time next May. After reading this entire thread we (I) have to decided to stay LVCL. My DS, who is currently 3 but will be turning 4 around the time of the trip, is loving referred to as monkey boy because he climbs everything and then jumps off. We had to be very careful to remember to lock the balcony door every time we used it and we even removed the balcony furniture. We hope he will have outgrown this tendency to climb in a year but DH would still feel safer on the 1st floor. Are the views that much better on the 2nd and 3rd floor?

Thank you for all your help.

We like the area near the bicycle rental in the marina. Typically, you will have the area to yourself and the music is clearly audible. The beach area is iffy since some of the speakers work better than others AND there is a good bit of guest noise.

Someone also mentioned the area in front of Tahiti is nice and very few people wander down there. I have no firsthand knowledge of that beach though.

The pool area near the bar generally has good sound, but a somewhat obstructed view.

Frankly, the quiet pool has the best sound BUT you can't see the fireworks--go figure. . . :confused3

Where is the bike rental? :confused3 I looked on a map and couldnt find it. It sounds like a great spot.

To Welcome Home: We had 2 rooms in the Tahiti Bldg. on the 2nd floor. The view was definitely better than the first floor- but not as good as the 3rd.
We walked by the Hawaii bldg every day, and as many have noted, there are no balconies on the 2nd floor- so that would be an option for you- if you don't want one! I was sort of thinking that those people got cheated- since we spent so much time on ours.

To Jodeeb: the bike rental area is along the water behind Tonga Suites and next to Tuvala.

That's SUPER exciting! And ask away with any questions. That's what we're all here for. :thumbsup2

We'll be staying at the Poly in mid November and will be celebrating our 10th anniversary. The three kids will be with us (romantic trip for five!), but we are considering getting a babysitter one night so we can have a nice dinner alone and do something fun.

I want to stick fairly close to the Polynesian (on the monorail) in case there's an issue with the kids. Luckily, I think we still have lots of options. What would be your suggestion for a nice evening out?
