I received my custom park maps and Magical Express package! About to start the 1 month countdown!!

Hi!
I just wanted to jump in here and say I just booked the POLY for our June trip!!

It will be our first time staying here. I requested Aotearoa building and a room with a balcony. I hope that was a good choice? We are not going to the parks and will just be at the resort for 4 days to enjoy swimming and relaxing!(we are DVC'ers and we just went in Jan and will be back in Nov so no parks this time!)

I plan on reading this entire thread tonight so I can learn everything I can about this resort!!

We are DVC's too, and will be staying at the Poly in June for a few days. We are first heading to Clearwater, and the beach - only because I couldn't get Vero Beach. This trip was thrown together just last week. We are doing four nights on points, and one cash night. The Friday night points is just too much for one night. I had really hoped to get club level, but nothing is available. I keep calling everyday, but so far nothing. We are doing Blizzard Beach, and MK and that's it. The other days we will hang around the pool.

We don't get there until July but I think she'll be okay maybe 3 out of the 7 days we're there.:confused3 I'm not going to count on it solely though. They made note of it, but I'm thinking we can supplement with takeout from Kona on the evenings we stay in if they can't do something special.

They will make sure we have soymilk in the lounge while we're there though, and we're all soymilk drinkers.

Did they say what brand of soymilk, my DD16 only likes 8th continent vanilla. I hadn't requested anything as of yet b/c she can live w/o it, but it would be nice for her to have if they can provide it.

We just rescheduled our trip from June to August, but we will still be at Poly. Everytime I read here, I get more excited about our first Poly stay. Now I just have to see if I can hold out until August. LOL

Awww. 4 days at the Poly and no parks. Sounds like Heaven to me!

Soymilk isn't put out automatically in the lounge. During our December stay, I just asked a CM if they had soy milk and she brought out a nice-sized bottle of vanilla Silk Soy milk. Eventually she recognized us in the latter days of our stay and asked if I'd like her to bring out some soy milk for me and my DD. The CMs in the lounge are awesome! :thumbsup2

DD and I are lactose intolerant so we live off of Silk soymilk. Thankfully Disney stocks it in Captain Cooks, Samoa Snacks and even uses it for lattes on request at the Kona Island coffee bar.

Oh, speaking of Kona Coffee, if you have a Trader Joe's near you, run, do not walk and pick up their cans of 100% Kona Coffee.:banana::banana: It's $19.99 for a big-sized can (around 16oz if I remember correctly) and yes, it is 100% Kona Coffee--not a blend. And the stores are all decked out in a Tiki theme so if you're sorely missing the Poly, it'll bring back memories. :cloud9:

I so understand! But at least you have this board. And while there are some folks with shorter waits, chances are there's somebody with an even longer wait than you. ;) :goodvibes

Hi All,

Just back from an amazing 8 day trip at the Poly LVC in Hawaii. I requested and received a 3rd floor room. We had a beautiful unobstucted view of the castle. It was great waking up in the middle of the night at say 3:00am and looking out the window and seeing Cinderellas castle beautifully lit up. We enjoyed the nightly fireworks from both the balcony and beach. In short, just a great family vacation as we hit the 4 major parks and Blizzard Beach too. Made my first run down Summit Plummet which was awesome. Hawaii was amazing as usual. The staff, food, & mousekeeping was great as always.

I don't contain the loquacious skills for generating a great trip report, but I'll be glad to answer any questions. I haven't gone back and read the last week here on Dis, so I don't know what's been talked about or asked. But if you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Thanks for the mini trip report -- and so glad you had a great time in Hawaii! We thought that the staff was great, too! And that castle at night...:cloud9:.

With having coffee maker in the room, is there some where we can buy the kona coffee to make in our room? Is there also some where to buy cream as well?

thanks

You can purchase Kona Coffee at the Kona Island coffee bar on the 2nd floor of the Grand Ceremonial House. Not sure if it's sold whole bean and they grind it for you or if it's already ground. You can buy cream (or just pick up some cream singles) in Captain Cooks or Samoa Snacks. Hope that helps! :thumbsup2

Hi All,

Just back from an amazing 8 day trip at the Poly LVC in Hawaii.

Welcome back! Isn't it amazing to be able to see the castle at all time of the night from the comfort of your room? :cloud9: Makes the trip even more magical.

Welcome back Greg :flower3:
Your stay sounds amazing. Just what I'd expect from the wonderful Polynesian :cloud9:
Sounds like your family had a blast and congratulations on Summit Plummet :cool1: You're braver than I am :rotfl:

One of my favorite parts of the trip is being able to see the castle 24/7. It just makes me feel like I'm always on vacation. Nothing better after a long day at the parks just relaxing on the balcony and enjoying the views of the seven seas lagoon overlooking the Grand Floridian, MK, Contemporary, and checking out all the boats in the lagoon.

Thanks, it truly was a wonderful vacation. The Polynesian always feels like "home" to us. I don't think we could ever stay anyplace other than Hawaii.

Summit Plummet was actually easier than I thought it would be. The initial drop kind of reminded me of the drop on Tower of Terror. Almost a free falling feeling. The whole "ride" was probably about 5 seconds or so. It was great, if the wait wasn't an hour I would have done it a second time.
