Thanks! That's what I thought. Now I'm left wondering if he wrote down the right request, or not. I guess I'll need to call back and double check that the request is Tokelau, that's T-O-K-E-L-A-U ! ;)

I would definitely call back and talk to someone else. :)

I made my final payment today on our June trip :banana::banana: I am so excited! I think I'm driving my kids nuts :lmao:

I once booked an Illuminations cruise for my DH's birthday. I kept it a surprise until the boat pulled up at the dock at the YC (easier since we were staying there). He still smiles when he remembers it -- it was so much fun. Keep it a surprise if you can!

We're doing an Illuminations cruise with another DIS-er and it's going to be a surprise for my mom - if I can just hold it in, LOL.:lmao:

Do the Garden CL rooms have a decent view? Or is it possible that you could have a parking lot view? I looked at the resort map and it appears to have a landscaped area between the Tonga longhouse and the parking lot. But I wanted to ask to confirm. The idea of continental breakfast, snacks, drinks, and evening drinks might be worth CL. But Lagoon CL might be a little too much $$ since we won't be in the room THAT much to enjoy the view.

The Illuminations cruise is really nice, and makes a great surprise. The best part is that you'll have front-row seats for it, and you wont have to wait for them or deal with pushy people! We really enjoyed ours -- my DD was 3 1/2 years old back then, and she had a great time, too.

Unless you've booked a suite, you'll be in the Hawaii building, not Tonga. And no, there are no parking lots anywhere near Hawaii. To me, it looked like most of the GVCL rooms were overlooking the quiet pool & gardens -- quite nice, actually, and a much better deal than paying for LVCL!:)

Having the snacks in the lounge is great, plus having the CMs there to help you make last minute dining reservations & answer any questions you might have is very helpful. Also, there's a fantastic view of the castle, fireworks, and EWP from the lounge! I can't tell you what room to request to get a better GV, but I'm sure some of the other posters on this board can help you with that.:)

Can anybody tell me about Garden View rooms? We are a large family so need 3 rooms, and so upgrading to Lagoon view is pretty much out. But this is a dream trip staying at Poly again. I stayed there as a kid and every time, we've been back to DW with our own kids we take a tour through POLY, have a meal or an ice cream, and say some day.....

So some day is coming soon but I do want to make sure of something. When you look at the map of POLY it looks as if some of the Garden Views are looking at parking lots. Please tell me this isn't the case....

Is there anyway, I can avoid this. Can you tell me a specific building to request that even with Garden view won't be a let down.

Thanks so much:-)

Thanks for your help!!!!! So Tonga is Suites? Didn't know. So a regular GVCL room would be in Hawaii. I just can't justify spending the extra $$ for LVCL when we won't be able to enjoy it 100% because most of the time we will be in the parks.

Silly question, but if you wish to carry your own bags to your room, do you still need to "check in" with Bell Services? Or can you go directly to the Concierge Desk?

Yes, all regular CL rooms are in Hawaii -- it's a great location -- right by both pools and the beach, and very close to the GCH. That's one of the best things about staying CL at the Poly -- at least you know which building you'll be in!

We didn't have any bags when we checked in (there were being transferred from AKL and hadn't arrived at the Poly yet), but they still told us to wait for a few minutes, then took us to the Hawaii building in one of the little golf carts. We could have walked, but this way my DD got the "full" CL experience. :)

Very festive mmmears! I'm going to file that away for an idea for my DH :lovestruc

We've stayed 5 or 6 times in Poly Garden View rooms and once in a Lagoon View club level room. ALL trips have been awesome. Being at the Polynesian is special no matter where your room is. I feel this way about all the WDW resorts I love but ESPECIALLY so at the Poly. The grounds are incredible, as is the atmosphere. We were just there last month in a GV room in Niue. It's a tiny little bldg. with just 2 floors. All rooms would be GV. It is in a very convenient location - right next to the GCH and the quiet pool and around the corner from the Volcano pool. It was wonderful! We loved our ground floor room and patio :cloud9:
Good luck!

There are a few good ones for a parking lot free room. Fiji, Tokelau, Tahiti, Samoa, Tuvalu to name a few. The unofficial website has a good map on it so you can see how the longhouses are situated. Google Tikiman 2001 to find it.

I hope your "someday" comes soon! I just had my "someday" during the middle of this month, and it was well worth the wait. :goodvibes

Why not try the golf cart? Bell Services will load your bags onto a golf cart and take you to your longhouse! I know it's silly to be excited about that, but after two stays at AKL and no Bell Service, (they kept refusing to help me with my luggage :scared1:) the golf cart bit was a huge treat. :) If you get a nice Bellman you might even get a tour of the resort. :)

I just think it's a very nice way to start your stay at the Poly.... :upsidedow

I've changed our reservation from 7 nights CL to 9 nights GV. Your post makes me feel a whole lot better because I was really starting to doubt the decision. I added 2 nights to the original 7 and added the water park option to our hopper tickets for just a little bit more than the price of the original reservation. I hope I did the right thing. I was really looking forward to CL!

Thanks so much. Our "some day" is just under 2 months away. :yay: I have to call back to pay for it before May 5th and I was going to make the longhouse request then. I'm not sure whether to pick a certain one, or just ask them to please not put us facing a parking lot or service entry.

That Tikiman site is wonderful. Thanks for the info:-)

We stayed in Fiji GV room but either side of Fiji is a view of either the beach and Grand Floridian or the marina and GCH. It is a wonderful location, close to the pool, GCH, and a practically private beach is just steps away. The 2nd floor does not have a balcony so if you want a balcony or patio request that.

I think that the best part of for him was the surprise, closely followed by his realization that he wasn't going to have to wait for an hour in a good spot, holding a couple of spots for me & DD (who was 3 and needed to walk around). He really hated getting a great parade of show spot only to get pushed and shoved around right before it would start!:) I'd love to do this again sometime -- it was a really great evening!:cloud9:

Here's a photo of the view from our Garden View CL room in Hawaii:

Do the Garden CL rooms have a decent view? Or is it possible that you could have a parking lot view? I looked at the resort map and it appears to have a landscaped area between the Tonga longhouse and the parking lot. But I wanted to ask to confirm. The idea of continental breakfast, snacks, drinks, and evening drinks might be worth CL. But Lagoon CL might be a little too much $$ since we won't be in the room THAT much to enjoy the view.

If you look on Tikiman's website, he breaks down the cost of breakfast, snacks, drinks etc and shows how it's worth the money, if you take advantage of it all. The lagoon view is worth it to our family, since I expect my kids won't be up late enough for the water parade and the fireworks most nights, and hopefully we'll get a balcony or patio to enjoy them. So it all depends on what works for your family. Good luck choosing!

The garden CL rooms will not have a parking lot view. You may see the quiet pool or the next building. We just got back from the Poly and had a lagoon view CL room and did love it. We were back in our room almost every night by 10 and got to watch the fireworks from our balcony which was just great. And when we were able to get 3 of the nights for free with the buy 4 get 3 deal, it really did make it a bit more reasonable as far as the cost.
