We were in Niue in March and I absolutely LOVED it! Fabulous location. I will be requesting this longhouse next time I book GV at the Polynesian.
The building is very small and only two stories. It is a darling little building, just steps from the GCH, very convenient to BOTH pools, very convenient to the parking lot and also the laundry facility, bus stop and Neverland Club.

We were on the first floor, on the quiet pool side. We had a nice, large grassy "yard" in front of our patio (not all 1st floor rooms at the Poly enjoy this.

This is a pic of Niue and our room taken from my lounge chair at the Quiet Pool :teeth:

This is the Volcano Pool side of Niue. You can see the nice open space the patios have.

Are there balconies on the 2nd floor of Niue? Looks like it but I can't tell if they are real or fake?

If the room has a balcony, there will be a table and 2 chairs on it.

No balconies on Niue 2nd floor.

We stayed in Aotearoa in late April 2007. I think we were on the third floor. It was very quiet - at the time, I was wishing I'd requested a patio room on the 1st floor because our kids loved the grassy area leading up to the beach. We had a MK view and could see the fireworks and water parade from the balcony (sorry, no pictures because we forgot our camera and had to use a couple of disposables - I might try to find the pictures and scan them).
The room was nice and clean and the staff were great. My kids loved the towel animals made in the lobby of the GCH.
Our last trip, we stayed at WL. It was nice, but I was a little squicked out by the clothes left in the drawers by the previous occupant and there was something sticky in the carpet that they couldn't get out. DH is not a fan of moving, so we stayed. Next time, I'd ask for a different room, though, or that they clean the floor.
My kids loved the Poly and my husband only wants to stay there from now on. He's pretty frugal, bordering on cheap, so that's saying a lot!

Hi Everyone!
Our 25th anniversary is on Monday, and our trip is 7 weeks from tomorrow. My Mom, and two DSisters had a family get together today. All five of our kids managed to come , as well as the families of my sisters.

When we got to DSis's house DH and I got lei-ed. :rotfl: And the gifts turned out to be Poly oriented. We got the resort pin, a Poly disc ornament and a tikigod ornament. :) Along with t-shirts with our names in Mickey heads,:thumbsup2 we got Mickey and Minnie wine glasses (I've always eyed those!):drinking1, some kitchen goodies and a Polynesian beach towel for each of us. :cloud9: Family is wonderful!

Yesterday, I put the balance due for our trip on our credit card (and then transferred some money to pay for it in early August....I need the points garnered by putting it on my cc) So. . . it looks like we are definitely getting closer.

Captain cooks has regular old French fries too. My kids have been ordering them all week even though they enjoy the chips.

If you are on the meal an the fries can be ordered ad a snack if all you want is an order of fries

Yay for fries at the Polynesian! Thanks for clearing this all important food issue up! For some reason, I got it in my head that the chips were all they had available, instead of fries. Glad I was wrong on this!

If you want to add fries they need to be ordered on the side, so I am not sure if you can change them and not have the Polyesian Chips.

I'm at Poly now (first time here, LOVING it, leaving tomorrow :() and for Cooks, they make you pick a side between Steamed Vegetables, Polynesian Chips, & something else that I can't remember right now (will try to look it up before we leave) and I don't know if there is a way to pick a none of the above option. Fries are their own separate item in the "sides" section and you can just order those on their own or with a meal.

Happy Anniversary and Congratulations :wizard: Sounds wonderful - you obviously have a great family

CrzyGmer789X2 - enjoy your last day!

Are showers/lockers located in the restrooms near the volcano pool? I'm wondering if it's similar to the GF?

My kids like to swim on our arrival and departure days, and having the changing area and lockers really comes in handy.

Just planning WAY ahead for next summer vacation :rotfl:

Oh my gosh I am soooo excited...we were planning a trip to Disney Hilton Head in August but dh just got the most amazing deal for CL level at the Poly and so we are headed to Disney in August!:cheer2:

It will be both of our first stay at the Poly and this thread has been so helpful (and helpful in getting us excited!) Thanks!

CL at the Polynesian is really great. I'm sure you will LOVE it  Congratulations.

I have a question for anyone who has visited the gift shop recently - do they sell lanyards with the wallet pouches at the Poly gift shop? I really want to get one for each of my kids, but not sure if I should buy them on Ebay or wait until we get there. Thanks!!!:flower3:

I love this site! We are staying at the Poly for our 38th anniversary in early Dec. We can't stay on our exact date (Nov. 26 because that is Thanksgiving and I have to do the family dinner for 30+ people) so we are going right after that. When I told my husband about this site, he wanted to read all about the Poly so he could "be prepared." Then he says, "Oh, and why don't you add a few more days, too!" Isn't that the best news ever?:thumbsup2 I'm off to see if days are available.:cool1:

The Pin Trading cart on the 2nd floor next to Trader Jack's sells lanyards. However I believe WDW has stopped selling ID pouches that were included with them, instead they now sell them separately. They also cost $4.50 and you have three different designs to choose from.
