I need to get the DISigners to make me some, they're so cute!

How much do y'all generally tip the mousekeepers? :confused3 I hadn't even thought of it... I don't normally tip housekeeping at hotels, but it sounds like it's pretty common at disney?

We tip about a dollar per person if the service is good, but we have tipped one mousekeeper a lot more. She when overboard with our kids. Towel animals, the kids stuffed animals looking out the window waiting on us to come back one day, watching TV the next day. We could not wait to get to the room to see what she did that day. She was great!

So I just found out that a coworker of mine is going to wdw in about a week and a half. I was asking her if she had finished packing, if she had and adr's, if she had a plan of attack parkwise, and she looked at me like I was a kook :lmao: granted we're going adr-less and going with qs but i couldnt imagine not even started packing for my trip a week away! i'd go crazy!!!!!

You need to do a intervention. She could have so much more fun on her trip with a few hours of planning.

you still can!
:scared1: I've gone without any real touring plans, outside one knowing we were going to MK, but we only were going for one day! (and even then I had a breakfast ADR!)

a dollar per person per day is what I see most often quoted on the boards.

as for how common it is.. well, even at my small hotel in the middle of nowhere housekeeping is considered a tipped job, and their pay rate is set to a lower hourly wage because of it. tips is what really pays their bills. :confused3 I never knew you should tip housekeeping until starting to work a hotel and learning things like that.

Still have two, no one has guessed.

Complete guesses on my part-

First one-Artist's Pallette?
Second-Mulch,Sweat, Shears-DHS?? I want to catch them on our trip in June, I hear they are pretty good.

:offtopic:
*sigh* We hit a milestone today-DS got his learner's permit to drive. I KNOW it was just yesterday when he was 6 and learning to ride a bike. Why does it have to go so fast :sad1:

Thanks! I guess it makes sense to tip, especially if they go above and beyond what they're job entails. I know you tip on a cruise, I just never though about tipping on land  I think we can handle $4/day. Hopefully DH doesn't give me a hard time about it, when we were working on our budget for the trip he wanted to tip "a couple bucks" for buffet meals :scared1: I told him $2 for a $75 meal, even a buffet, wasn't ok :rotfl:

does he want to insult people? :rotfl:

My personal plan for tipping is to tip my personal at home avg of 15% for buffets, leaving extra for my actual served meals to be tipped at 18-20% depending on the service. :confused3

and since i got the dining plan and nearly every meal has an ADR, i have a pretty good idea how much i need for each meals tip. so i am planning for it now!

so glad of the menu's and prices being on the net! :thumbsup2

Arriving June 23rd, staying till June 30th at CBR.

ADR's at:
June 23 @ 12:40pm Hollywood & Vine
June 24 @ 8:35am Akershus Royal Banquet Hall
June 27 @ 5:20pm Whispering Canyon Café
June 28 @ 8:00am Chef Mickey's

yeah.... I don't think he realized how expensive the meals are :lmao: thank goodness for free dining, otherwise we'd be doing everything super cheap and I don't think we'd enjoy ourselves nearly as much as I think we're going to :goodvibes
My plan was about 15% for buffets, and for places they actually bring you your food I'll do 20%, that's what we normally tip when we go out unless the service is just terrible.
I was going over the budget last night to make sure we've set aside enough cash (with gas prices going up recently we've had to up the budget for gas :headache: ) I'm pretty much in charge of our money, so I'll just put a little extra aside ;)

I tip pretty well IMO, I might tip a little less if we didn't have 2 little mess tornadoes at the table with us :lmao:

if it wasn't for tax returns, we would never be able to go. :rotfl: I consider that 'money i never had'. you should have DH look at a menu or two. I know I am in a bit of shock ot have to set aside between 60-100 bucks for TIPS. just for TIPS... :headache: but, then again, we will be having AWESOME times, good food, and I DON'T HAVE TO COOK OR WORRY! well worth the tip money yes?

and yeah, so glad i don't try driving. we fly (nonstop too) and use disney transport. then I don't have to watch gas prices. also, for a quick way to get a ballpark on gas money for a drive is with AAA's fuel price finder tool

http://www.fuelcostcalculator.com/ is where I found it. (or just go to aaa.com then click fuel prices in the upper right hand.)

I love this thing even for things like visiting family a few hundred miles away. :confused3

another day closer! :woohoo::woohoo:

I've been away from the DISboards for a little over a month (life got in the way) and I can't believe how much I've missed in this thread alone! I feel like playing along with all the fun stuff, but by the time I go back and get everything sorted I feel like there wouldn't be a point...also, the tips are awesome!!! I never thought to take a photo of contact info in case my camera gets lost, and it never even occurred to me to take photos of my place before I left just in case...can't wait to get fully caught up :thumbsup2

at least do the questions, we do read them and gives us an idea of who coming out to WDW with us!

and answer any unanswered photo questions.

we've got $100 set aside for tips  I guess that's what we get for doing the deluxe dining plan  But I figure we got free dining and there's NO way we would do all these places otherwise (4 character meals, plus a few other TS)
We live in Georgia, so flying would be more expensive... just when we 1st booked our vacation and wrote out our budget we budgeted $3.50/gallon for gas thinking that gave us room for gas to go up (and to fill up in Florida once, which is always higher than GA), but NO, now gas is already $3.70/gallon and we'll be driving over Memorial Day weekend :headache:

Thanks for the website! It does all the math a lot faster than I can :)

at least do the questions, we do read them and gives us an idea of who coming out to WDW with us!

Here's this one for now!

1) How many miles do you live from Disney World?
I live about 3,239 km’s away from Disney World

2) What is your favorite...
show: Festival of the Lion King
parade: They don’t have it any more, but I think it was called the Lights, Stars, and Motorcars parade at the HS
Activity (play) area: I’ve never used one

3) What is your favorite gift shop?
The one in HS that’s attached to the Scary Apothecary candy shop because of the Nightmare Before Christmas merch, but I also LOVE the Art of Disney stores

4)What is your favorite breakfast meal? (include name of restaurant, cart, etc. and the specific name of the menu item or be as specific when describing it as possible)
So far it’s the Mickey Waffles, but I haven’t been to many TS breakfasts

5) What is your favorite lunch or dinner meal? (include name of restaurant, cart, etc. and the specific name of the menu item or be as specific when describing it as possible)
It was hands down the Mahi Mahi at the Coral Reef I had in April of 2008...it’s still probably the best meal I’ve ever eaten…it was fall-apart-in-your-mouth fish…sooo good!

6) What is your favorite dessert? (include name of restaurant, cart, etc. and the specific name of the menu item or be as specific when describing it as possible)
As crazy as this sounds, the only dessert I remember having is the s’more from the 50’s Prime Time…I know I’ve had others, I really don’t remember them…that’s not to say they weren’t good and that the s’more was the best dessert of all the trips I’ve taken, it’s just the only one I remember off hand

Hi everyone!

1) How many miles do you live from Disney World?
