Who is "they?" This was mentioned a few weeks ago on this board, I called the GF directly and was told that this had been pushed back to the fall.

"they" is also me. And the work on the floor will begin this summer.

Well, the CM that I spoke to at the GF, who spoke to her manager made it clear that the main building would not be torn up until at least October. I spoke to CMs and CL CMs.

I see you have a trip in August and you are probably concerned about the floor being an issue for you but do not worry. I promise you will not experience any inconvenience. I hope you have a wonderfully fun trip. :cloud9:

Wow, I should then probably get the name of the CM who was lying to me on the phone. Maybe the name of her manager since she talked to him/her as well.

I doubt she was lying. She probably was telling the truth based on the information she was given at the time.

I know you are really concerned about your trip, so if you're that worried about the lobby floor being repaired while you're there, could you call Disney and ask if you can switch to another resort? I bet they'll try to accommodate you.
:tinker:

Before my comments sound combative, I should mention that the CM I was speaking to was referring to the work being done in the main building only. The work on the individual buildings (I believe Boca Chica and Sugarloaf), would go on as planned. She told me that the work being done in the main building was the work that was being postponed until the fall.

Before this gets taken to the streets (or the new york section of Disney Studios;)) let us just agree to disagree.
I just want anyone going from mid-july to the fall to be aware of what they might encounter, which is basically nothing. The floor will be done in small sections at a time and while it won't be any bother to anyone, i know some like to know about any possible problem. I know you will have a great time Scottmc. How can you not? Its Disney!
Have a great day! :)

I agree. ::yes:: Since they're beginning the work behind the orchestra in small sections, I can't see how this will inconvenience anyone. I just returned from staying in RPC last month and I never walked in that area once. I would also imagine the work would take place between 9am and 5pm which most people spend at the pool or in the parks. This wouldn't bother me one bit. I would NOT change resorts due to this. :sad2:

I would also listen to the advice of people on this board before WDW officials. 99% of the time, the folks here know more than those in WDW. :rotfl:

I'm so glad you had such a wonderful time. Everytime I see a honeymoon, or anniversary couple I always hope they have a better time than expected. There are few things I enjoy more than watching that magic unfold for them.

disneyfan62, it sounds like a wonderful anniversary trip.:surfweb: Congratulations on 25 years!

:offtopic: BCV Are you planning to stay in the new BLT soon... I bet the views will be incredible...

Hi, Blue skies  Yes, we'll be at BLT twice in 2009. Can't wait. :dance3: I agree the views look amazing. However, I booked standard villas to stretch our points and until there's a bit more info on the views. Sadly, I haven't been able to get the GF nights I want for another trip. Those accessible rooms can be hard to get at the GF. :sad2:

I'm anxious to see the new lobby floor, too. I will be glad when the uneven ridges are gone....I almost tripped over one earlier this year! :rotfl:

Someone sent this to me, so I thought I would share for anyone that might be impacted. It probably wouldn't bother me much, but some it might.

Apparently they are replacing all the carpeting in the main building with tile.

The floor rehab will begin July 17th with carpet removal and work on the second floor. New tile should start to go in by July 20th. Noise will be at a minimum and tiling will be done during the daytime. If you know what room category you booked for your guest it is possible to request a room away from the center lobby. That you can do by calling Disney Reservations.

Have a *Grand* day.

thanks to all for the 25th anniversary wishes! it truly was a magical & grand time, I am having withdrawl this week being back at work though in my 4x4 cubical!! want to be back there right now watching the sun rise from our balcony every morning with a cup of coffee & watching every wishes firework show at nite with my dh! it truly was the best time we ever experienced at Disney! I am so thankful we were able to stay at the GF & got such an amazing room, we will never forget the wonderful & romantic time we had & how they made our anniversary so special with just the little things! our dormer room was in the Conch key room 7431...

Just wondering if anyone knows - do they still have the "Lady Bug Release Program" at GF?
:thanks: in advance!

So, all the carpeting on the 1st two floors of the main building is coming up at once? Ugh...this is so upsetting. I would assume that by the time we get there in late August, they might be working downstairs...does that mean that all the tables, the grand piano etc might not be there? Ugh!
