Hey everyone! We are down to the single digits here!

The floors are coming up I have been told BUT IPO has assured me they are doing it in small sections, they will be placing panels up and guest shouldn't even notice the area they are working on. I am not worried anymore :goodvibes
I might even try and snap a photo or 2 of the new tile if they will let me!

Has anyone been to the GF recently? I am not sure if the flowerbeds have...well flowers in them this time of year :rotfl2:
With the very heat of summer I was wondering if they just had greenery type plants or actual flowers! With my new camera I was hoping to get some pretty floral shots with the kids.

Also the waterfall pool ~ how deep is it? I forget LOL
DH was asking and I said I think 4 foot but I can't be sure.

Actually....to put at ease the minds of those who may be worried about this work being done, could you also snap a picture or two of the areas being worked on? I'd be VERY appreciative. Thanks!
I'm very excited for you! We're 42 days out! :cloud9:

I sure can BUT as they are working in small sections ... they will be working in different areas from your trip to mine but I will snap as many photos as I can of the work area with my new trusty camera.

Hi Brook I was at the GF last month and all of the flower beds were filled with beautiful tall summer flowers :flower3: No sure what they were!... but they were beautiful...lots of shades of pink and some yellow too...there will be many lovely spots to take pics and make good use of your new camera...

I think that the waterfall pool is 4 feet at its deepest part too...it dosent get very deep like the court yard pool does...

BCV Two trips to BLT! How nice..:) hope that the room you need at the GF opens up for you...

Scott Most of the time from what I have seen with any of the refurbishments being done they do try to them as unobtrusively as possible (most of the time...last month they were painting and washing the building exteriors and there were big cranes being used...this was NOT unobtrusive!!:headache: ) ...like doing small sections of the floor at a time...The GF is absolutely beautiful! So I would imagine work in one small area wont detract from that...

Thanks for the info~
I knew it didn't have a serious deep end but couldn't remember if it was 4 foot or 4.5 foot deep.
My DD still does that half swim/half drowned dog paddle thing :lmao:
DH is a red cross certified life guard (for boy scouts) and was asking about the depth while watching painfully his daughter trying to swim :rotfl2:

Glad to know there will still be flowers in the flowerbeds! Around here, all of the flowers have been replaced with green tropicals for the serious heat waves!

Scott, are you staying in the main building? From what I understand this flooring will only effect the main building. If your staying in the outer buildings I seriously would not give it a second thought. We are going to be in the main building and I am a little concerned over the construction messing with my beautiful serene view but I have been assured that I won't even notice it. Also, DH has suggested blindfolding me every time we walk past the area so I won't lose my magical happy place thoughts :lmao:

Hi Brook, you must be so excited. Have a great trip.:cool1: Can we look forward to some pictures of the lovely flower beds at the GF?:surfweb:

BlueSkies, thanks for the good wishes on the room.

Scott MC, I really wouldn't worry about it. At WDW they're always working on something and do an excellent job of masking it so that it doesn't impact guests.

I have 6 16meg SDHC cards along with a 400gig external hard drive. DH figured I could take 1 photo every 30 seconds 24/7 for our entire 11 day stay and still have storage room left :thumbsup2
I am going to take photos of EVERYTHING!

If anyone has any special photo request let me know!

Another transportation question~

On our resort day we do have Chef De France booked for dinner. I am looking at the quickest easiest way to get to france from the GF....

I think a cab would work but I don't think the cab will drop off at the International gateway ..but I could be wrong :confused3 Anyone ever get dropped off or seen cabs there before?

If that is not an option which resort should I have the cab drop us off at? I don't want to have to take the monorail, swap at TTC and then walk all through FW and over the bridge just to eat dinner :lmao:

What would you guys suggest from GF to France and please don't say *by plane* as my DH already did :rotfl:

I've taken a cab to the BC to get to World Showcase for a F&W event before. Worked like a charm...

That's my plan as well unless someone knows a quicker way!
How long did it take you? How much time should I allow to get there?

Brooke, probably the fastest, most direct route will be a taxi to the Yatch Club, then walk over to the International entrance and France is right there. I know in Feb. after the illumination cruise we went over to the Yatch Club to grab a cab back to the GF and it was real quick and so easy. Glad to see you're down to single digits, today I'm at 29 days. This will be the first time for an RPC stay. I'm surprising my niece an nephews, but the suspense is killing me. Hope you have a great trip and I can't wait to see your pics.

Thanks! This is our first RPC stay as well and we are really excited. I do think the BC would be closer/less of a walk than YC.
I am just not sure how much time to allow for travel. Our dinner is for 5pm so I am thinking of getting the cab at 4pm?! should I try for 3:30 instead?!
Maybe I should just cancel this meal :lmao:

I'd say the car ride will take 10-12 minutes and then the walk from BC lobby to IG/turnstiles + walk to restaurant another 10. So I'd allow about 25 minutes from the GF lobby princess:

Grab a cab at 4:30!

Thanks! I think we better stick to the 4pm ..just in case as I will be traveling with 2 kids and a DH so anything could happen enroute :rotfl:

We are sleeping in this day and DD has the Alice tea party from 2-3. We can throw her treasures in the room, get ready and hit the cab for 4pm EASY and make it for dinner. Of course DH is already complaining and wanting to cancel this meal ...he wants to stay at the resort, swim and eat at Gaspies instead of going clear over to epcot for dinner :rotfl2:

I agree.::yes::

Brook, you're right. BC is closer than YC.

Glad to hear you're well stocked with memory for the photos. Looking forward seeing some.:surfweb:

edited to add that I saw you plan to stick to 4pm. You will have plenty of time to enjoy the walk that way. BTW, has anyone noticed that they are now saying to show up 20 minutes for your reservations? At least that is the case for our September reservations. If that is true this summer as well, 4pm would be safer...or at least 4:15. :)

4 sounds good. Better safe than sorry ;)
Hopefully your DH will enjoy his meal. By taking a cab it won't be such an ordeal getting there.

Me too!

Me too!

That's the plan! I need to entice his lazy butt out of his swim suit and the free beer in RPC and travel in the heat of the day clear to France :rotfl:
Yeah it will be a struggle conning him into following through with this plan :rotfl:
The cab will help a great deal =)

I want to see Remy DANG IT!!! I might end up going alone :rotfl2:

Hello Everyone!
I have questions a couple of questions about the GF. I'm staying there September 25-27, my dad and I were going to stay at the Poly but he found a discount and we switched to the GF :goodvibes. But I have a few of questions..

1. I want to get a dormer room, are they difficult to get if requested?

2. Might seem like a wierd question, but does the GF have a food court, I only know of the sit down restaurants like 1900 Park Fare.

3. Can you see the monorail from any of the rooms?

4. What is the likelihood of getting upgraded?

Thank you!
