I wondering the same thing about the upgrade. When we were upgraded at the Poly and CR, we didn't know until we checked in. How did this upgrade work?

Native NYer - I have discovered an upgrade on my own, by checking my reservation on-line. I check my reservations all the time  and once, I think it was the actual check-in day, I checked my GF res. and it read "MK View" as my room type, even though I'd booked Garden View. I was thrilled! Especially b/c I was traveling w/ friends who were first-timers. The other time I've been upgraded was to Lagoon View from GV and I didn't know it until I got to the room.

Isn't Citricos fantastic? The GF is beautiful and the restaurants are one of its greatest strengths IMO. We love dining at the GF even when we don't stay there. :goodvibes

I agree BCV23. No matter where we are staying we almost always have Afternoon Tea at The Grand :cloud9:
Good to see you over here. I haven't been on the FAQ in forever  Check my tickers :woohoo:

Hi johnsonet! Good to see you here!

Having tea with your daughter is such a great way to make memories.:cloud9:

What a wonderful trip you've planned!:cool1:

Oh I didn't know that. Hmmm, I wonder if my Poly and CR upgrade were online :confused3 I'll check this year and see if we've been granted some pixie dust, but I doubt it will happen. We're booked in a deluxe queen RPC room. The next level up would be a suite and I have never read about anyone getting upgraded to a suite. All I want is a room on the same floor as the lounge. I don't want to have to go down or up to the lounge with a 2 yr old and a 6 yr old.

Yes - don't count on an upgrade from that  You're gonna LOVE it!! Have you requested 4th floor room through IPO? Soooo convenient :cloud9:

I am definitely not counting on an upgrade to a suite :rotfl:
As soon as the August park hours are released, I'm faxing the IPO my dining requests. Our ADR date is Feb. 23rd. I want to make sure that we don't schedule a character breakfast the same mornings as EMH at MK. We LOVE getting to Fantasyland before the crowds.

I'm also going to put in a request for a 4th floor room. I really would LOVE to be on the same floor as the lounge.
We're celebrating my nephew's 2nd birthday, my older nephew's kindergarten graduation (the trip is his graduation gift :)) and my parents' 37th anniversary. So, I think I should mention those on the form too.

johnsonet, love those tickers! What a great combination.:cloud9:

The wait times app won't work on the iTouch since you'll need either Wifi or cell service for it to connect to the server. The dining app will definitely work on the iTouch. I have it on my iPhone and my wife has it on her iTouch.

Well, phooey! Thanks for the info, I'll look into the menu app, at least.:)

johnsonet - congrats on your trip, you have my two favorite resorts planned!:dance3:

We saw an upgrade from garden view to lagoon view the same way last summer. We had changed our dates just prior to leaving, and when we got our new confirmation, it was listed there!:goodvibes

rubato - V&A's is fantastic, you will love it! I hope you are able to talk your DH into staying at the Grand.

mousefan1972 - our favorite things to do at the GF are relaxing in the lobby, visiting the shops, wandering the grounds, lounging by the pool, watching the EWP and/or the fireworks in the evening.

I was reading about the PIN codes, and called to ask if there was one in my name. The first day, they said no. The second day, the CM said there WAS a code in my name for a lagoon view, but all the rooms for the code were booked, and that in exchange for the 40% off, he'd knock about 10% off my entire package and upgrade us to TPV/Club.

That is fantastic!!! I hope you post some pics of the view from your room :goodvibes

I have a feeling that after our first GF stay in August we won't want to stay anywhere else :cloud9:

That's an awesome surprise. Have you checked your reservation online or received a new confirmation with the upgrade? As I said before, something similar happened to me and I didn't have anything in writing to back it up when I arrived. I'm just overly cautious at this point.

Native NYerWe were upgraded to a suite at the GF and I know at least one other person who got a similar upgrade, so they do happen ;) . There are 2 different styles of the deluxe rooms, but if the floor is the most important priority, you may want to stick to that as your primary request. The IPO staff really does try to give you exactly what you want.

I e-mailed the IPO to confirm, and they said it was real! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

An upgrade to a suite would be fantastic. But I am just so thrilled that we're staying at the GF in the Main Building :yay:

Which deluxe queen layout is on which floor? And can you request a specific layout? Not sure which is best for 3 adults and 2 children (6 and 2). I love the one with the larger tub. Also, do you know which layout has which view?

TIA!

Native NYer this link might help you out, http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=25366035&postcount=2 . Minniesota also posted some pictures here, http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=25333907&postcount=39 .

edited to add, for the bigger tub, on the 4th floor, you'd want to ask for 4419 or 4420

Thanks so much!!! Will the IPO accept requests that specific? I hope so :goodvibes I'd like to request beach/Poly view. I'm sure with only 6 deluxe queen rooms, it's a little easier to get what you want. At least I hope so :rotfl:

You can definitely request that view -- just remember that they won't guarantee it.;) But, yes IPO will take down requests, including floor numbers, etc. It's wonderful in RPC -- have a great time there!!!:goodvibes

Thanks! I'll make my requests and hope for some pixie dust :wizard:

I'm so excited about RPC. It'll be wonderful staying it the main building. I'm sure it'll be a lot easier getting around from there with 2 kids.

Can anyone tell me if the garden view rooms have the pull out day bed? We are a family of four, but daughters 17 and 14 (who are perfectly OK with sharing a bed) would be even happier if there was a day bed and they didn't have to sleep together.

Thanks for the info!

I believe GV rooms have day beds. Lodge tower and dormer rooms do not.
