Michelle A last minute trip with a discount!!!:yay: Have a great time!!

Gonzo It is so exciting to get to make your ADRs...then you know that your trip is right around the bend...good luck!

Hillview Lucky you getting a room reservation just 2 weeks out!...we are doing the regualr DP this trip and from what I understand you have a certain amount of credits CS and TS to use by the end of the last day of your trip...:confused3

mmmears Love that Boca Chica building too...that GV is my absolute favorite...:lovestruc

Mary I read a while back that they dont have the child size robes in the rooms any longer...didnt see any on our last stay...but you might still be able to purchse them in Sandy Cove...not sure about that....

The Basin talk has me thinking of a great shopping trip!!;)

Cinderumbrella How great it must have been for your DS to have his own space..;) bet it helped to keep the room neat too!:)

THanks!

Mary

Mary, BlueSkies is right. They do sell children's robes in Sandy Cove...or at least that was true last month. They are not the same as those in the rooms....more a fluffy style than the spa type found in the rooms.

THank you!

Mary

Ok... 1 week out and I was able to get Garden View AND a AAA discount on the room (I'm 2 days short of getting the room rate code...)

Can't believe I could get the discount this close to going... (we leave hopefully on the 5th... I have a work project that must get done by Friday so I can go or we delay... oh well... we'll see... )

That's amazing!!!

yay glad I found the new FAQ thread. I leave in less than a month :cool1:

Fabulous pics!!

I am excited about the views from GF as we have been staying over at CR the past few trips...so we won't have a castle view, but that's ok for this trip. DH said he wanted a change of scenery, :rotfl:

I also decided I will see if IPO can help me secure the bathrobes for my daughters and then put them in our room while we are out of the room the day after we arrive. We arrive on Saturday, so Sunday I need some magical suprises to appear for everyone while we are out at the parks. :goodvibes

Mary

Mary That is a nice idea about the robes...hope IPO can get them for you...:)

Gonzo How did you do with your ADRs...:confused3

Heatherlynn Those really are such beautiful pics...wish I was at the GF already!!!

I just want to thank all of you for the wonderful information on this thread! My family of 5 will be at GF SL July 21-28 and I can't believe everything there is to learn before we get there :yay:. I have already looked into bath bombs, water craft, and cabs all as a result of your posts. Thank you for sharing all of your knowledge, especially with Disney amateurs like myself. I look forward to learning much more over the next 83 days!

I do have one question: Do the s'mores on the beach take place every night or only on certain nights? If only certain nights, is there any way to find out which ones this far in advance?

At the pool there are tip boards. You can check there or ask at the concierge desk :thumbsup2

I had seen a picture of a sign showing what movies were playing for the week and it looked like the campfire and movies were every night. Of course it could change by the time you go but as far as I can tell it is every night for now.

As of March 2009, every night :thumbsup2

Thought I'd post this here for anyone who may be interested. From the allears online newsletter:

"ALL EARS® HEARS ... from Linda:
I just made reservations to the Wonderland Tea Party at the Grand Floridian for my granddaughter for our trip in May, and was told by the cast member that the time for this has been changed to 2 to 3 p.m. as of April 1 (not 1:30 to 2:30 as it was previously). Cost is still the same at $42.60 (including tax)."

Yes - I was wondering if you had the new times already b/c I remembered that you mentioned having your DD signed up for it. I assume it's correct info but maybe not...

and while I am thinking of it...

how much do the s'mores kits cost? Where do you buy them... right there on the beach? Or somewhere else, can you use your credit card or room key card or do you need cash... exact change even?

Silly question - what is IPO?
:confused3

Itinerary planning office. They help club level guest with making ADRs, special activities and all of that kind of thing.

I am not sure about the kits but during the camp rock party they had someone with a cash box and took cash only for popcorn and drinks. I would have cash on hand to be safe.
The smores kits are $7 and the marshmellow kits are $3 if I remember all ears report on it correctly

My kids are signed up for the Wonderland Tea Party and we were told it now is 2-3. Every time they went before it was 1:30-2:30.

Also when we were at the GF in February the movies and campfire were being run every night of the week -same as the YC/BC.

I emailed IPO and hopefully they will get back with me. When I made the ADR I was told 1:30-2:30. Chances are they forgot to mention the change to me :lmao:
I just want to double check to be sure :thumbsup2

I wish i could get DD8 to do these kinds of things. The kids stay by themselves, right? I know should would enjoy it once she was there but getting her to agree to do it difficult. She has alot of anxiety and new situations are not easy for her.:guilty: She is so glued to our sides it's not even funny. My DH and I can't do anything without her.:sad2:

I am booked in to the Grand Floridian for 15 nights next August with my DH and DD who will be celebrating her 9th Birthday while we are there.

Is there anything special I can arrange for her for her birthday. We plan on going to Discovery Cove for the day but may be thought of something in the evening or something in the room to come back to?

Also - could any one tell me of any other activities that go on in the hotel for resort guests. DH will be playing golf a couple of times so DD and me want to do something girly. One day we plan on pony treking over at FW but the rest of the time we are unsure. Just wondered if anybody had any ideas for something a bit different. The only thing she has done there before is the Perfectly Princess Tea Party and that was when she was 4.

Thanks

In room ideas: give her a bath with a bath bomb (we clean the tub, though :rotfl:), order a cake or those nice chocolate covered strawberries, have a basket of goodies up there for her bday. Sometimes, just having a room service dinner in her jammies makes my DD feel :cloud9:.

The regular afternoon tea in the Garden View Tea Lounge is very nice. Have you thought about having tea with her while DH is playing golf? Or you could rent a cabana for the afternoon and lounge by the pool in luxury. My DD had a great time shopping at Basin White for about an hour! There are also those little Sea Raycer boats that you can rent at the marina and "drive" all around the 2 lakes there.

I'm jealous about the 15 nights!!!;)
