My DD loves towel animals, and we have been spoiled daily at both the WL and the Poly. Do you ever get any at the CR? Just want to make sure I prepare DD ahead of time if there won't be any. ;) Are there any special activities for children?
There are special activities in the afternoon poolside (games, contests). Those are the only ones I can recall DD doing.

At the CR (both GW and Tower), we usually seem to get DD's stuffed animals (4 or 5) all displayed in various poses throughout the room. We just love coming back to the room and seeing the different poses they are in.

We have had them placed everywhere including:

The (dry) bath tub with shower caps on their heads.

In the (dry) sink "brushing" their teeth.

On top of the toilet lid with toilet paper in "paw".

On top of Kleenex boxes in front of the mirror "brushing" their hair.

On the beds getting "manicures" and "pedicures".

On the "phone" (she disconnected the handset) ordering room service.

On a chair that she placed in front of the sunny sliding glass door with SPF nearby and sunglasses on them.

Lined-up with all of our shoes on them and park maps, headed for th
e door.

It's absolutely adorable. I much prefer this over towel animals, but I also prefer a very clean room::yes::, so if you don't get any of these "extras," perhaps your room will be extra clean ;).

I am considering calling WDW tomorrow and switching the last two nights from POR to CR. After staying up too late reading this thread!! and looking at pictures, I think my kids would love it!!
What do you all think? I would rather not pack everything up twice, but we cannot afford to spend all week at CR. We will be spending quite some time in the room as we have two year old twins that still require daily naptime.
Any advice or tips is very much appreciated!!
I think this is a great idea, especially since you have several children in strollers. You will just love the convenience of the walkway to the MK and, of course, the monorail to the TTC-Epcot/Poly/GF. Just make absolutely sure that you stay at the CR at the end of your trip, or else you will probably not want to switch to POR after staying at the CR:love:.

I know you wrote that you can't stay at the CR your entire trip, but is it at all possible to slightly shorten your trip, and then stay the entire time in the Garden Wing? No matter what you do, staying even 2 days at the CR will give you a great idea of what it's like for a future visit;). Let us know what you end up doing:).

We are booked for January with an atrium club MK view! Cant wait! We are celebrating my daughter's graduation early since we did not want to fight the Spring Break crowds again or the heat in June.

I read somewhere that the 14th floor does not overlook the 4th floor. Does the 12th floor (atrium level)? We loved looking out at the the 4th floor the last time we stayed at the CR.

TIA!

Yes it's true that the 14th floor does not look down onto the 4th floor, so it's all inclosed up there. However the 12th floor does look down onto the 4th floor like all the regular Tower floors.

Thanks CR fan! I was also wondering about the new palm trees that have been planted by the pool. When were there in 2008 one of things we really enjoyed was having all the shaded areas at the main pool. We love to sit by the pool but like to be shaded. Has some of that been lost with the new pam trees being planted? I love :lovestruc palm trees but they don't offer that much shade typically!

You're welcome and personally I think the pool area looks a lot better since it's renovation and al the new trees that have been planted.

I know it takes at least 24 hours to have a parcel delivered from the park to your room at a value resort, is it the same at the CR? Also would you get it faster if you are staying in the club level?

I believe it's the same amount of time no matter what type of resort your staying at. Also if you stay Club Level then any packages you have sent to where you stay will be put in your room, so you don't need to pick them up at one of the stores in your resort.

Someone asked about internet:
Wireless internet is provided by a different company than the wired (in-room) internet. We tried the wireless, because it was supposed to be available in the tower and at the pool. We had a Garden Wing room, but went to the tower, ground floor and 4th floor and the wireless connection was just horrible. Tried by the pool, too, without luck. So DH ended up using the wired internet using the cord provided in the room. You have to pay each 24 hr period. So if you get it at 4pm on day1, you can use until 3:59 on day 2. Thus, only paying ($9.95?? I can't remember) every other day.

The laundry room is nearest the tower end of the Garden Wing, on the 2nd floor. I didn't use it, but since we were on the 2nd floor we walked by it several times a day. It was almost always busy in the evenings, not so much in the mornings and early afternoons. It's close-ish to the pool. You couldn't leave kids unattended to tend to your laundry or anything (which I wouldn't recommend, anyway)

exactly what I wanted to know - thanks for the tips - I will do the washin' in the am - and, no, I would never leave the kids at the pool alone:scared1:...my hubby will be watchin' them while mommy tends to laundry... I am really gonna try so hard to not bring so much clothes this time, so I plan on one am of laundry time.

I should tell you it was HOT and HUMID by that laundry room! There's no place to sit, other than in the room (there's a tv in there, at least and a few chairs) In July, we saw many people who didn't look very comfortable. Bring a cool drink! I didn't go in so I have no idea how many washers/dryers, etc. I think it said it was open til 2am. I wouldn't like that much if my room was across from it, since the tv was always turned up pretty high.

There is an observation deck on the 4th floor

ohhhhhh!!!!!.......is it worth it to eat at Cali Grill just to see wishes from up at the top. or should be just watch it from the 4th floor?

opinions?

dh loves fireworks so that was the only reason we were going to eat at CaliGrill was to see the fireworks from up there.

personally, i would be happy watching them from the ground outside...which may not be a bad idea either :confused3

i'm sure we'll watch them from main street at least once but i thought it would be nice to watch them from Contemporary the rest of the time as one of the benefits of lodging at Contemp.

oh, and the EWP.....is that always going past Contemp at 10:05, no matter what time of the year?
