Actually when going to the Monorail station they have an elevator for guests in wheelchairs and ecv's, so maybe you did not happen to see it.

Yep. When we stayed in the Contemporary with my grandma, who is in a wheelchair, it was one of the most handicap friendly hotels. The monorail was easily accessible (by said elevator) and the rooms were very large and easy to accommodate her wheelchair (this was a standard room, too).

Hey everyone! We're gearing up for our trip to the BLT (less than a month!) and I've heard that BLT will share room service with the CR. I've read conflicting reports on whether or not the CR allows for room service to be ordered from the restaurants in the hotel like other resorts (GF, AKL) do.

Has anyone ever been successful in ordering room service from the Cali Grill or The Wave? We're on the deluxe dining plan and between the four of us, we always have credits left over (too tired for breakfast, too tired for dinner, whatever) and it would be kind of nice to get some room service on our last night (or on a night when we're too tired to go out for a late dinner).

If you look at the Contemporary room service menu you can tell that the items come from the specific restaurants, like The Wave when you compare some of their items to the actual restaurant menus. So you technically won't be ordering from the restaurants and here is a link to the room service menu.

Oh. I agree completely which is why we bought BLT!! Can't beat the monorail!! But as far as the buses go, Pop , IMHO has the best all around service!

ITA about Pop having the best bus service ANYWHERE!!! :worship:

But the CR wins, hands down, for best location, IMHO. Being able to walk to MK is the best perk of all (don't have to deal with a rental car/parking lots or wait for a bus/monorail to arrive). Also, being the first stop after MK is AWESOME!! Even getting to EPCOT isn't so bad since the TTC is the next stop (getting back from EPCOT, however, takes a bit, but still better than sharing a bus with another hotel).

We REALLY need to have a serious discussion in this household about DVC, specifically BLT. We have never considered DVC in the past since we didn't care as much for the locations of the hotels (self professed monorail snobs :snooty::laughing:), but BLT is VERY intriguing...

Lastly, and slightly OT, another HUGE thanks again to everyone here for all the great info I got about this hotel!! :worship: DH has already given the green light for another mommy and me birthday trip/SWW in June 2010 and I hope with all my heart that it will be back at the CR!!!

:rolleyes1I hope the trip doesn't interfere with Y&R:lmao:.

Seriously though, don't forget that you can still book a "cash reservation" through the WDTC at BLT and use any applicable codes/discounts without being an owner;).

Yes, I used it, otherwise could not access the monorail. The area the elevator exits into is quite tight, and when there is a line waiting for the monorail, as there frequently is, people have no where to go in order to let you off the elevator.

Well I never needed to use that elevator so I would not know how tight that area is if there is a line, although I am sure it would be better if there was no major line.

Hey- I thought I recognized your screen name over there!! :rotfl:

As for DVC, it just something we really need to talk about. When I think of the thousands of $$ we have given WDW in the past few years it is starting to make more sense just to be owners :confused3 I am hoping to take a BLT tour with DH when we go back in Nov/Dec...

my wife and I have asked many times if we can order take-out from the wave and always been told no. which is a bummer, because it would be wonderful to carry it back up to our room.

but, like CRRF4L says, it seems like many of the room service options are close to the offerings from the wave and cali grill. There seems to be alot of crossover to the contempo cafe.

the funny thing about the wave though, is you can order take out drinks at the lounge! thats fun!

Thanks to a response by WillCAD with the information about WIFI access, I was able to add it onto the 1st page here it is.

Contemporary has wi-fi available in limited areas of the resort:

Main Lobby
Tower Club 14th Floor Concierge Lounge
Outer Rim Bar
1st Floor Convention Center Lobby
2nd Floor Convention Center Lobby
Main Pool

It is not free; cost if $4.99 for the first 60 minutes, or $9.95 for 24 continuous hours. You'll need a credit card for payment, as the wi-fi is provided by an outside vendor and is available to anyone, whether staying at CR or not.

1st post from a long time lurker! Thanks so much for this amazingly informative post...

So here's my question - if I am staying concierge on the 12th Floor can I go up to the 14th to use the wifi?

thanks!

Hi all.....we are booled n 8/7, tower MK view...when I made the ressies I requested Highest floor ( non-club) and have called back once since then requesting to be the N side, closer to MK. The CM on the phone was sort of unsure of what I was talking about, and she said, "oh, the CG side". Now thanks to you all on this thread I see that I should have stated the opposite side of Chef Mickeys ( I was saying the side by BLT, but she wasn't picturing it I guess :confused3) and I for sure should have requested a room with an odd number for facing MK from the bed.( totally goofed on NOT requesting that in my first call) So, here's my question, if I call back AGAIN am I crossing the line of being obnoxious, risking ANY of our requests? I mean, I know we have MK view for sure since we are paying for it, but this is a one time shot for us, and I REALLY do not wish to be over the convenetion center. We are going for DS 15th BDay ( shhh, it's a surprise) and only have a short time there. He has always hoped to stay at the tower MK view, as close to MK as possible....so ahould I call back, or request at check in? I am sort of leary of on line check in for this reason, I would like to have interaction with CM. When I booked, CM ased if it was a BDay surprise and I said yes, that it has been DS wish since he first realized people could stay in the tower overnight ( he was 5 at the time ;)) we are arriving the week before FD so I am hopeful it won't be jammed, and our flight arrives at 10 am, so if all is well w/DME should arrive fairly early for check in...but BLT opens 3 days before we arrive, so not sure quite what to expect ( I am hoping extra busses :thumbsup2) So, anyone have any magical :wizard: advise so I don't blow this for DS?

Thanks!

Pam (26 days to go! :cool1:)

Have a great time and I am not sure if you can go up to the 14th floor, because you would need to be staying up there. Although I guess you can ask a Cast Member on the 12th floor and see what they say.

I would not say your being obnoxious because it turned out you made the wrong room request and you have a right to request what you want. Plus it's up to the room assingment Cast Member at the Contemporary who can handle your requests and all the Cast Members from CRO just add them into your reservation.

Thank you so much spaceace, I have been on the boards for about 3 hours looking for a pic of the balcony space, wondering if 5 of us could sit out there and eat dinner while watching wishes, thanks to your photo I think it would b a bit tight.
